Now, i'm working a 100% commission job as a life insurance agent...i am given leads...but i have to make appointments and visit their homes....but so far, i haven't been making much...jus about the same as my old job..with jus less hours..but has a lot of pressure to make ends meet. I'm constantly stressed out to make sales...and im not a sales type of person. But if i get good...i will make double than my old job. It may take 6 months for me to get good...but so far..i've been stressing out like crazy.
I know that the economy isn't doing so good and its always wise to take any job offers....but i dunno if i should go w/ my old job...i will learn so much...taxes, insurance, finance, insurance, estate planning..i will work closely w/ the owner who i really respect. But the pay isn't gonna be good but its stable but..that means i would have to get a part-time job w/ it...like a weekend job..etc. Im 24 btw...what would u guys do? isnt it normal to go back to a job that you had quit? i jus said goodbye to everyone...but i'm in good terms w/ my boss and manager. tips...advice?? thanks!!

The first job is better. how long were you working at your first job? If you get 5-10 years experience on the first job it would look amazing in your resume and you can use it as an actual skill.
Then while working the first job after 5+ years. try to negotiate a better pay and benefits/promotions. if they don't provide you with that.. still work there.. while looking for another related job somewhere else with better pay and benefits. (i'm sure people will look at it)
then later once your skills improve you can ask about raises. etc.
why don't you do both parttime?

It might seem weird going back to your old job because you've already said goodbye to everyone. But them wanting you back means they valued what you were doing before, right? I'm sure they'll accept you in again with open arms. In the beginning it might be really stressful and difficult again, but once you get used to it things will get easier, and you could potentially rise up the ranks. And if the owner and manager loved you, I'm sure you can negotiate more pay for the good work that you do
Good luck! I hope everything will work out for you fine!

interesting choice of words. because when i was doing sales based on commission.. i was sorta losing my mind because i was living on trying to entice people to my product (mortgage changing APR)...
let me share a story i've personally went through
me - "hey we are mtg company, we're calling in behalf of your mortgage"
him -"I'm not interested, do me a favour and put me on the do not call list, if you call again i'll sue you."
me - "Come on man we can really change your APR"
him -"Do you f#$kin hear me? i'll F#$kin' sue you, i'll kill you and your whole family" (cursing continue for another 5 min)
me - "please?"
one thing led to another and i had to get the manager. for some reason even tho he said he was going to kill my family.. i was in desperate need of money and i didn't want to give up.
Then i realized sales wasn't my job. ha-ha.
I'm not really trying to discourage you if you ever choose to do sales. but this is what i personally went through.
hope my experience helps.
I personally believe that even if you get RICH and SUCCESSFUL off of commission based work. you're still going to be stressed.

But.. again.. Insurance Jobs aren't exactly that good in the first place. Have you thought about going back to school, or just doing a career change?
