Every time I click on a link after doing a google search or something, it always leads me to a different link that's totally unrelated (advertising). I have to click 3-4 times before it finally leads to where it's supposed to. I ran a full scan because I thought I might have spyware. After getting rid of all the spyware, I tried it again and it still happened. So what's wrong?

Most likely a virus. Download a spyware program (check the pinned soomi thread, I personally like malwarebytes anti-malware) ASAP, scan and get rid of it.

If it's a virus, then spyware programs are useless. The original poster already stated that he/she already scanned and got rid of the spywares, but the problem still occurs.
Frazzle, what are you searching on Google? Can you post a sample link of one of the sites? I believe it's just one of those websites where you have to click through a bunch of advertisements to get to the content, which is no spyware at all.

Aaaahhh long time I didn't help people with malwares... Mostly because no one PM me anymore lately... *stretches*
For this case, I'd say that there's some left overs remaining in the browser (although he got rid of certain spywares) - or the host file has been manipulated... I'd go with my first option...
Get malwarebytes thing here:
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti...4-10804572.html
Update it and perform a quick scan. Don't mind the full scan. Delete all what it has found.
After you're done, get hijackthis:
http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-Hijac...4-10227353.html
Scan and save a log file. It will scan pretty fast and then a notepad with long stuff will pop-up (that's the log that I want)... Copy everything in there and post it here... Time to check out some R0, R1 and R2 lines... Also some BHO lines (that's Object 2 I think), Object 3 lines (I think this is the HOST line I expect, otherwise we'll go find the Host file), hmm maybe Object 23 lines... What else? *Rusty* For some fun, I like to check out the Object 4 lines as well... *Excited*
Hmmm... and some registry keys in binary and not hexadecimal somewhere inside HKEY-LM>sft>mft>ie... along with some string values... ah ha! *Reminder to self*

http://www.superantispyware.com/ is also a good program. Hmmm, you can try a system restore to an earlier date when you did not have the spyware problem.
