Tips on losing weight

Not sure if anyone has done this but I was thinking of putting all the tips that can actually help you lose weight or tone your body. Even just little stuff. Here is a list. Please post more and I will add it to "the list" I'm sure this will help people to lose weight biggrin.gif

1. Drink water with apple cider vinegar - this will increase your metabolism
2. Take epsom salt bath - makes you feel less bloat and supposingly help you lose 5lbs
3. Count the calories - I recommend 1000 calories a day but depends on your height
4. Join the gym - be a membership, it will definitely motivate you to go
5. Don't eat after 8 pm - makes you feel better as well
6. Don't starve yourself, eat alittle every 2/3 hours - if you skip a meal the next time you eat it, it will be stored as fat
7. Suck in your stomach - when your in classes or bus etc
8. Swap food - like fruit for chocolate
9. Do sit ups or push ups while watching tv
10. Stop 3 bus stops earlier - walking distance is longer so more exercise
11. Eat breakfast - something filling porridge, banana
12. Keep a diary of what you eat - write about what you've eatten right and wrong and your target
13. Know your start and end date of a diet
14. Have a motivation e.g. prom
15. Have a photo of role model - the female inspiration thread is good!
16. eat your food slooowwly
17. chew your food till it gets watery
18. get 8 hours of sleep - burns calories
19. keep a before and after of your measurement - weight, arm, thigh, waist measurement
20. plan what to eat
21. Cut down in carbs
22. snack on raisins
23. make sure your calories intake gets smaller every day. So your breakfast should be your biggest meal and dinner should be the smallest
24.drink green tea
25. eat green apple
26. have a table spoon of apple cider vinegar after a meal
27.do 100 sit ups before going to bed
28. when eatting egg, eat the white part only
29 when having bread have wholemeal
30. have a goal
31. studying makes you burn calories
32. drink water if you feel hungry first
33. *New* Make out
34. Drink cold water to increase metabolism

1. Drink water with apple cider vinegar - this will increase your metabolism
I've always wondered what ACV tastes like. Its suppose to be extremely good for you, especially your stomach. I heard people replaced their shampoo with ACV too.

3. Count the calories - I recommend 1000 calories a day but depends on your height
No! No one should ever consume 1000 calories or less unless they're under 5'2 (That's pushing it in my personal opinion!) + their natural healthy weight is around 100-110. So for some of you, this might apply but for most, figure out your BMI and it should tell you how much you should consume a day. For most average girls around 5'2-5'5, you should be consuming 1,200-1,600 while exercising to lose weight. Boys, double the amount.

6. Don't starve yourself, eat a little every 2/3 hours - if you skip a meal the next time you eat it, it will be stored as fat.
^This is so important. I know a lot of girls including my mother who starves themselves all day and eats only dinner and a snack now and then. 6 small meals will do you much better than 1 large meal.

7. Suck in your stomach - when your in classes or bus etc
Rather than suck in your stomach, train to "tighten" your stomach muscles. Sucking in your stomach only makes your ribs look larger.

12. Keep a diary of what you eat - write about what you've eatten right and wrong and your target
This helps immensely. For those with iPhones/iTouches, the Lose It! application is great for this even though it's not always accurate. It's fairly close.

16. eat your food slooowwly
It's proven that you consume less calories by eating slower. :]

22. snack on raisins
Almonds (or any other kind of nut) helps make you feel full and I think they contain less sugar.

23. make sure your calories intake gets smaller every day. So your breakfast should be your biggest meal and dinner should be the smallest
This is called the reverse diet to some people. It makes sense because you'll burn off you largest meal and go to bed without a bloated stomach. It's hard for me personally because I can't eat that much in the morning nor do I have time.

28. when eatting egg, eat the white part only
60 calories per egg whites and lots of protein. :]

so is apple cider vinegar and water good? my mom always tell me vinegar is bad

Sucks how that doesn't work for me. My ones coming up in 2/3 weeks and I have no motivation.
I'm getting confused, I've read somewhere that I should eat before 6, then 7, then now 8 o'clock? HAHA.

Oh & I have one.
I heard making out makes you loose calories.

I'm under 5ft 2 (only 5ft) so yeah I try and take about 1000 kcals. Yeah it's not healthy but then this is tips about losing weight. Losing weight is unhealthy if you want to have fast results.
Also egg white only has about 15-20 kcals and the egg yolk has about 50-60 so yeah eat the egg white.

Basically you burn calories in every activity you do, even sitting there, sleeping, brushing your teeth etc burn calories. It doesn't really burn alot but it still does. Don't you always feel hungry when you are studying?

Yeah I've heard before 6 as well but I stop eatting before 8.

Again just anothe tip because it is easier to digest plus it takes your brain about 30 mins till it tels ur stomach that it's full so eatting thoroughly is good.

I thought really healthy people eat about 2000 calories a day, because fruits and vegetables have lots of calories. If you're eating healthy you're consuming more calories.

I don't know where you heard this. Fruits and veggie are generally lower in calories, but very high in nutrients and other goods your body needs to function on. And 2000 calories/day is what you'll usually see on the nutritional value thing on boxes, but the amount of calories you take in depends on your height, weight, physical activity level, and whether you want to lose, gain, or maintain your current weight.

Who ever said this was a thread on losing weight fast and in unsafe ways? There's a reason topics like The Master Cleanse were permanently deleted and not allowed to be posted on soompi. Your goal in losing weight is to lose it at a reasonable rate so you can achieve your goals and maintain it instead of gaining it all back once you try to eat like a normal person again.

And even at 5', you should probably be getting a little more than 1000 calories a day. In case you hadn't read what suzushii had said on the 30 Day Challenge thread, allow me to quote:

You should eat at least 1200cal a day or your body goes into starvation mode and makes you gain double the weight once you eat over 1200cal. So try to keep it at a minimum of 1200cal and you should be good : )
