Hello (:
So I'm picking out a new phone, and in all honesty I wanted a blackberry or iphone... butttttt, I can't afford the data plan as of now, so those are out of the question. Maybe in the future.

So I've been doing some research, because I'm a nerd like that, and I've narrowed my choices to two phones. I'm stuck between the LG Chocolate Touch and Samsung Samsung Rogue.

cnet links:
Samsung Rogue || LG Chocolate Touch
----

They are the same price. About the same size in length and height. Samsung Rogue has a bigger width because it comes with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. They both have a 3.5mm headphone jack which is a HUGE plus in my book. I like the Chocolate Touch because I've heard the music quality is amazing and you can multi-task with it, meaning I'll be able to text people while listening to music and etc. Apparently you can't do that with the Samsung Rogue, which bothers me greatly. The full QWERTY keyboard is the main thing that I like about the Rogue. Chocolate Touch has a longer lasting battery life, but only by a couple hours, I think.

I really don't know which to pick, and I'd be ever so thankful if you guys helped me out ><

Thanks for reading & helping (:

Chocolate Touch is FUG.

Why don't you get the EnV Touch. It's has a qwerty board, multitasking and a touchscreen and
on amazon it's only $50 bucks.

I would pick the samsung over lg.

I love LG's designs, but their phones aren't as reliable as samsung's.
If you're tight on money, you'd best be going with the samsung - there's less chance of it freezing/crashing etc.

Also, the lg chocolate is a new phone, and there aren't many reveiws on it. Doesn't look good either.

Thanks everybody (: I think I'm leaning more towards the Rogue now.
And to answer the question about getting the EnV Touch, I don't like flip phones. I have the EnV2 and I hate it a lot.
I miss my slide phones ><

well it depends.
qwerty keyboards on touch screens are hard to type fast with, but if you're confident go for the Chocolate. biggrin.gif
the Rogue does look better, but i get frustrated all the time cause i can't do anything while music's playing on my phone... tongue.gif

i'd go with the Rogue:p
p.s i have the env2 too x.x one more year till i get a new phone...

Just a note, verizon changed their policies on their phones.

AS of Nov.7 if you buy a phone with a full HTML browser, you are also required to
have a data plan. But the data plan is like $10 a month.

I'm not sure if you can cancel it later, but yea... my friend got a rogue, and they made him get the plan.

honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

Darn it, I went to the Verizon store and it's true.. you need to get a Data Plan. I guess I'm going with the chocolate touch then... unless my dad changes his mind about letting me get the data plan.

Such a stupid rule IMO. sad.gif

Thanks for all the help!! biggrin.gif <3

Well cause data plans are pretty expensive I think it's like 30 dollars a month just for internet and unlimited texting, then you need to pay for the minutes too. It ranges from like 70-80 dollars a month I think for just one iPhone user on AT&T. Well, I have an iPhone 3G for T-Mobile jailbroken and unlocked of course. Thus not needing to pay for a data plan. smile.gif I pay 10 dollars a month for my plan, because it's part of our family plan.... down side is there's no internet, although I need to add texting though.

The Rogue requires a data plan of $10 a month. My cousin really, really wanted to get it, but she didn't want to have to pay for that data plan. I'm planning on getting the Chocolate Touch. The only thing I don't like about it is the ugly colors for the menu buttons..lmao, but I guess it'll be okay with a different wallpaper. And the Chocolate Touch looks SO much better in person. The grayish part on the front is actually like a mirror. What I also personally like about the Chocolate that's making me choose it is how thin/light it is compared to other phones and the ease of texting compared to other touch phones. <3 I was going to pick the enV3 but it's too bulky for me :/
The Samsung Rogue isn't BAD..it's a really good phone with great features. It's just that darn data plan. d: I only inform you about the Chocolate cos a bunch of people think it's bad at first glance.

I hope you pick the right choice? biggrin.gifD

I went to Verizon yesterday.
All blackberries, smartphones, droid, and the EnV touch requires a data plan

Blackberries and droid are $30 a month cause they have a different type of internet and they have other features.

EnV touch only requires $10 a month

Chocolate Touch looks MUCH better in person. It's really thin and it doesn't look as cheap. The feel of it is pretty good.

I still really want the rogue though... I just don't trust LG anymore :\
I hate this stupid data plan rule D:

I bought LG cookie recently and was very happy with it, until I discovered that its battery dies easily.
In bad moments too.
So if you're a person who adores text-ing, I wouldn't recommend LG for you.
Good luck smile.gif

I have the Lg touch and I like it. I had the Env before with the keypad. Though i do love having a keypad, I can still text pretty fast with the touchscreen. it is a very small and slim phone! and i like the camera

i used to have the chocolate touch;. DONT GET IT
the touch sensitivity was bad near the bottom of the fone - so if you used the qwerty keyboar it would mess up a lot and when you pressed the clear button it would end up pressing a letter a lot.... Also when you callibrate the screen the callibrations okay but sometimes it can be WAY off... Also a couple of my friends have the Rogue and they say the fone is good. Also my other friends with the chocolate touch say they've experienced similar problems. However the battery life on the chocolate touch is really good. However the touchscreen is good the first couple of weeks but then it just worsens
