My Journey To Lose 25 Pounds by Valentine's Day <3
(I am not performing a fad diet/cleanse/fast, this is plainly a healthy diet.)
if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it.

Growing up in an Asian family where everyone is "big boned" or "just plain big", I get sick of being the only FAT Asian girl at school and at home. Through the mean looks, comments, and crude things people had given me, it plainly sucks to be big and it hurts when you're the joke and they're laughing at you. I've always tried to lose weight and set goals for myself but those thoughts never had the chance to be carried out. Therefore, I'm hope that by posting my goals/results online--where the everyone could see would motivate and keep me from giving up. So here it goes...the embarrassment are exploding...

Some random facts about me before I start:
  • I play Girl Tennis in the Fall, Strength Training in the Winter, Girl Lacrosse in the Spring, and Boys & Girls Tennis in the summer for my high school.
  • I LOVE reading and writing in my free-time, though I spend way too much time on that matters. I think they're one of the main reason why I gain weight easily by staying stationary.
  • Makeup and shopping are my other hobbies, which is pretty obvious since I'm a girl.
  • Classicals are my favorite music genre, like Debussy, Mozart, Yiruma, John Williams, Yo-Yo Ma...
  • I'm Buddhist and Vietnamese
  • I was born in Vietnam, I moved to America at the age of 8, can speak and write fluently in Vietnamese.
  • I love my mom <3333

Updates Schedules:
Every 2 day with weights, every 8 day with pictures and once in a while with body's measurements.
How To Take Measurements
What am I doing on my diet?
Like you see on most people's diet journal, they usually have a certain food they will eat and their scheduled lunches/dinners, I won't be doing that since I'm horrible with scheduling and planning.

On my diet, I am going to try to eat healthier than I normally eat: such as eating chicken salad at lunch instead of the usual burger and fries, or half a bowl of rice at dinner instead of full or two bowls. I'm thinking of a practical diet, a one that anyone can follows and succeed by using self-discipline and wise decision.

For the exercising part of my diet (which is in the winter-spring), I'm in the Strength Training group at my school, which are for athletes during their off-seasons to stay in-shape and not lose muscles. I run 2-3 times in the morning, though it's not much. I also use the yoga-ball, which can performed situps/pushups.

Let's Get Down With It!!
Height: 5'5"
Current Weight: 145 pounds (Nov. 18, 2009)
Goal Weight: 120 pounds
Time Goal: By Valentine's Day.
Looking at the weight goal and due date, I'd have to lose 1-3 pounds/week.

Day 1: November 18, 2009
145 pounds

Day 3: November 20, 2009 - 144 pounds

Day 5: November 22, 2009- 144 pounds

Day 7: November 24, 2009 - 144 pounds

Day 9: November 26, 2009 - 143 pounds
My Notes

Day 11: November 28, 2009 - 141.5 pounds

Bust: 37 1/2 in
Waist: 30 1/2 in
Hips: 39
Thighs: 22

I've been running 1-2 miles in the morning for the past 2 days. I live in the midwest so it's super cold in the morning, and it's pitch dark until 7:30 am, which doesn't leave me much time to run until the evening. I also suck at running too (it took at about 9 mintutes to finish a mile), years of tennis and lacrosse didn't really help....... :[, I totally forgot to tell you guys that my family doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, I didn't have to worry about gaining weights that night. I'll add more on the next update. Should I make suggestions on exercises and food then?? Thanks guys <33

(Next update: Monday, November 30, 2009)

It's really good that you're not doing any of those outrageous diet plans and you've set a realistic goal for yourself.
I think when people do that it's easier to stay with the diet. And I totally understand the being stationary because of writing and reading. I have that problem as well. ^^

Anyways, good luck! Fighting!

You are a very brave girl. I hope that you achieve your goal. You are going into the right path by eating healthier. Make sure to eat 6 times a day and in small portions to build up metabolism.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you, I just given birth 7 months ago.. and I'm trying to lose weight that I gained while I was pregnant. I have my goal set for New Yrs... I've been running for 15 minutes every morning and doing the P90X at night. I've completely cut out cake, candy, cookies from my diet... but the holidays are coming, I hope that I have the willpower to not eat all the sweets.

That's fair. Looking forward to seeing some steady results. Remember if you succeed, you'll be an inspiration to a lot of the members here (sorry, just piling on the pressure for you).

My only other comment is; don't be afraid to get a little bit more advanced with your diet/exercise plans after a month or so.

You seem to have a very realistic goal. =D The only thing I would say is that your planned work-out routine only includes strength training of sorts. That's great, keep that up too, but you really should be doing cardio as well. You will definitely get the results you want faster and more easily.
And as for dieting, the trick is don't eat when you're not hungry, and only eat until you're comfortable (not full).
Just a few minor pieces of advice.

I agree with boka, if you succeed you're gonna inspire so many people here. Good luck! I'm rooting for you biggrin.gif

Good luck! I wish I can say that I hope to continue to see your progress but I have a feeling this will get closed... There were a bunch of other people who posted the same thing and the mods closed it and told them to use the "Get Healthy By Summer" thread. sad.gif
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

I LOVE how you're so dedicated to this ;v;
I'm also in the process of losing around 25 pounds (so far I've gone through almost 10 pounds, and I started at 5'3" (height) and 144 pounds, so technically I was more overweight that you >_> because I'm shorter, too) and so I know what I mean when I say this

pleaseplease DON'T feel discouraged if you suddenly gain like 3 pounds in a day or two sad.gif
because that happened to me last week and I got all pissed
but I still persevered and lost 3.5 pounds within the last 3 days biggrin.gif

this is soo weird, because I have the same goal!!

in the summer, i decided that i would commit to loosing weight.
I was 5'6 and 145-150 lbs. I was fluctuated a lot, but now, i'm 135lbs! therefore, believe me when i say, YOU CAN DO IT!! not only that, but you can do it in a healthy way. I know for me, the most difficult part is to break mental barriers. don't ever think "I can't do this" or "what's the point..i'll look like this forever" just force yourself to persevere. it was the hardest thing I've had to (and still have to) do.

I'm definitely gonna follow this thread. Maybe we can reach this goal together =)
Let's do our best~

If you set your mind to it, I promise you, you'll be able to do it. I was just 5ft. two years ago, and I weighed 130+ pounds. I stopped looking at the scale after I got to 130lbs. Then one day I was like, you know what? I am not going to sit around and feel like crap for myself anymore and I'm going to do something about it. Now I am 110-114lbs depending on how I'm exercising or eating that week.

Anyhow, I wish you the best of luck and I am rooting for you!

Good luck! This is a really good idea actually...I never thought about setting Valentine's Day as a deadline but it's so cute and nice and makes me feel happy inside. smile.gif After all...loving yourself is the first step to any sort of love, right? smile.gif waaa~

I think I'm going to do something very similar to this. Thank you so much for inspiring me :]]]
