I graduated with a degree in Business Econ from a UC this year. I would love to become an elementary school teacher. However, I read that you need a degree in Education or a Masters in Education.
What step do I need to take? What classes do I need to take, and what licenses will I need to obtain, and how long will this take? Do I have to go to grad school to become an elementary school teacher?
Thanks.

Sorry to hear that you majored in something kind of hard and more profitable and want to become something that requires an easy major (Education) and pays little.

Hmm well it depends on what state your in. In NJ you practically go to school twice...and come out with your masterers.
I'm doing History+Education (as you have to major in subject) and then after getting a BA in History you go back and tacke education classes/training for another 1-2years..
Have you tried substituting yet? Good practice!

hurry worry - I love how people always say teachers are paid little. Because where
I am from (New Jersey) elementary teachers' starting salary is $47,000.

Whoa... the teachers in your states get paid so much... The teacher her in DE start at around 24,000,
and the most i've heard of a teacher making was in the 60's... and this was a teacher at retirement age.
It depends on the state you live in. Not all teachers make alot of money. That said, there are teachers in America making
100k a year which is completely ridiculous.

I want to become an elementary school teacher too! I'm in my fourth year of my regular bachelor degree. In Canada you must get an undergraduates degree before you enter the Education program. Then the education program is only 1 year. So in total your doing 5 years of schooling in order to become a teacher. You can become an elementary school teacher with any undergraduate degree as long as you take some of the required courses. Like 6 credits of English, 3 credits of math, 6 credits of Canadian studies...
We don't get paid much here either, but if it's something you love, then money shouldn't be stopping you...

I'm from Canada too, and it's not true how you need an undergraduate degree before entering the education program. Some universities offer Concurrent Education programs where you can study for your undergrad and education at the same time.
And anywho, good luck in becoming a teacher! You're lucky to have found something you want to do.
