I'm not a big fan of Twlight (I did however, adooooreeeeddd RP during HP days as Cedric Diggory) but I did notice that ever since the movie came out, people seemed to be having this obsession over vampires. There's this girl in my school, she wears black lipstick everyday and has the palest skin shade because of her foundation. She tells everyone she wants to be a vampire. I'm just like ... WOW.

Does anyone else know people like this? Or is it just me that thinks this 'Vampire' craze is .. well .. crazy?

Same concept, slightly different target group.

You are not alone.
This girl in my school tried to bite me when she found out that I was blood type O T___T
She calls herself a vampire.... She does have really sharp teeth X__X
My poor friend got bitten by her and she had bruises and tiny scars on her arm D:

sfsadfl. While I like the books because they make me feel like a 12 year old school girl with her heads in the clouds and it's fun to reminisce, I hate how they destroyed the images of Vampires. I love the Vampire folklore, it's very dark and romantic. The book isn't even close. It's just silly and childish.

What's funny about this is that even in Twilight, the vampires strives for secrecy and all the high school kiddies are running around yelling, "Look at me!"

However, I haven't experience anything in person when it comes to this. It's just a bunch of kids online.

It's funny because I just conned a guy into taking me to see the new Twilight movie tomorrow. I'm not a Twilight fan. I think the books are poorly written crap. But, the movies are just gold in terms of humor. As for the new macabre surge of Twilight--it's weird because I was into the goth subculture long before Twilight made it and it's certainly made certain kinds of cosmetics and clothing more accessible and popular in the mainstream. It's funny watching these kids get totally wet for vampires but still be the gooey little preps (and preps remind me of peep marshmellows haha) on the inside. To be honest though, I don't have a huge problem with it. The basis of the books is still the basis of other tween/teen novels--it appeals to a young woman's sense of romanticism. As my theory goes, every young woman wants a relationship with a guy who is just so nice that she feels compelled to do things that she wouldn't do if she wasn't being blackmailed to do them. Whether vampires are involved or not has little to do with why the novels are popular.

To be honest, despite my goth roots, being a vampire is not appealing at all. Everyone has been thirsty before. Maybe even desperately thirsty. And the idea of being that thirsty all the time just doesn't sound like much fun--even if I get to be ridiculously good looking and live forever in the process.

holy crap.
the vampire movies are movies, but what's up with the overrated publicity?
i was reading the newspaper yesterday and there wasn't a SINGLE PAGE without something to do with New Moon.
i used to be neutral with the vampire thing, but now it's just too crazy.

okay, i honestly had this interest in vampires before i found out about twilight .
back then, something about them intrigued me. but i didn't pretend to be one.
now i completely detest the "mainstream" and commercialized vampire. makes me gag .
i am not a twilight fan at all. -___- when i hear people at school talk about it, i immediately leave.
as for stephenie meyer, i have nothing against her, but she really could do a better job at writing if she tried.
other writers, that haven't gotten the spotlight, completely pwn her works.

^We surely don't know much about vampires, but that's because maybe we don't want to.

I've seen a documentary about people who actually lived like vampires. There was this one guy who was pale, has long black hair and wears a cape all the time. He says he's not looking to bite anyone, but he does drink blood. His girlfriend is also a vampire and they take each other's blood with a needle, pour it in a glass and drink it.

Though I have nothing against it, the whole Twilight thing just kills me. I cannot take it and I've tried to read the book... Badly written, really bad. But nowadays, a lot of things or people get famous for no real appearant reason. Paris for example.
i met the future that didn't reach you.

People take this crap to the extreme. Come on.

We all stopped believing in Santa Claus at one point. It seems as if the human race has deteriorated and is now obsessing and believing in nonexistent crap.

I liked Twilight right before it got popular and every girl started whining "Bite me! Bite me!" but I guess you could say I'm hypocritical because I got back into vampires again with the Vampire Diaries playing on TV and all tongue.gif . It's mostly because that one vampire dude.....Ian Somerhalder.........is sooo hot.
Let's commit the perfect crime. I'll steal your heart. You steal mine.

I was a big fan of RP from the start..i was like meh from Hp and I couldn't believe he was Edward...

As for vampires..i loved the concept way before Twilight came about...but the craze is getting abit over the top I think...so many other vampire novels...as good as twilight and even better don't get much notice untill now...have you notice how many vampire/fantasy books there are now on the book shelves...those were there but really hard to find...now its like everywhere!

Vampires have become grossly overhyped ever since Twilight became the latest phenom for pre-teens of America. I find the craze to be a sad obsession.

the whole twilight hype is over the top. imo, the novels were poor and the movies were dull and choppy. though i do enjoy the whole vampire thing, i don't like everything is taking is over the top. i liked dracula and i enjoy vampire diaries now. i've tried watching true blood but it was way too intense and too much sexuality for my taste.

I used to love Twilight (the book) But after watching the movie, I got annoyed with the whole Bella and Edward thingy.

I'm watching Vampire Diaries now :0 It's awesome!

I'm actually very fond of this vampire 'world'. It's full of mystery and, I don't know, it just makes me think of hot guys. Haha. But I don't think I know anyone who's obsessed with it to the point that they change their make-up, etc.
