I'm not looking for much anymore. I want to stay away from Windows Mobile though. It's kind of ugly, haha.
I'm basically looking for anything with a QWERTY key pad. I don't favor touch screens but I can grow past that.
I like Blackberries too but I haven't used one in years but I'll consider them too. I'm avoiding the Blackberry Pearl or anything with a similar keyboard.
I haven't looked at the new LG phones because I know the old ones we extremely faulty. How are they now and should I even consider them?
Thanks in advance!

Like others have said, your best bet is going into the
Verizon store and actually playing around with the phones.

I'll look into the new blackberries and the EnV3. The DROID looks awesome too, does it require a data plan?

The droid requires the blackberry plan - Data plan is extra $9.99
Blackberrys and Droids extra $19.99 *(its either twenty or thirty)

I have the blackberry 8330.
Good phone. I honestly thought I would hate it because I didn't want the phone in the first place, but I'm pretty attached to it now.
My dad went from his 8330 and got the Droid. I was playing around with it and *0* gosh it feels so nice. I wasn't a fan of touch screens by the HTC phones are so darn responsive, that I actually like it. I would get the droid, but with the blackberry I have such easy access to my emails that I can't part with it. If BBM wasn't unlimited I would switch to the Droid. You can look at the blackberry Tour, when I was playing around with it, it was pretty nice.
If you don't want to go with a Data Plan then you can consider the Samsung Rouge, or LG EnV3.

"The Droid" means DROID by Motorola.
If you mean the HTC Android phone, it is the DROID Eris.
I have the DROID Eris, and I'm loving it. Even though it only has Android OS 1.5., HTC made its own modifications to the phone. Some people even go so far as to say it's better than the DROID by Motorola.
3 main reasons HTC DROID Eris beats Motorola DROID:
1. The Motorola DROID has a physical keyboard, but many people complain about how the keys are too flat and small to properly use. The keyboard just adds extra weight and size.
2. The touch screen keyboard for DROID Eris is supposedly more responsive. Honestly, Motorola hardware is about as crappy as it gets. HTC, on the other hand, has good quality hardware, thus making its phones' touch screens more responsive.
3. Home screen space usage: the Motorola DROID may have a bigger screen, but it still only fits 4x4 squares like the HTC DROID Eris. Moreover, some of the apps (e.g. the flip clock) don't display correctly on the DROID because of the different screen size.

You said you used a PDA, so I figured you'd probably want a smartphone.
Verizon recently released the Omnia II. I was actually going to wait for the Omnia II to come out on Verizon (there were several rumors saying Omnia II was coming out on Verizon because they already had Omnia I). If I remember correctly, Omnia II has an AMOLED display screen. This means it will have the sharpest, most accurate colors (even better than plasma TVs). I haven't used this phone, but I think it'd be pretty good, too.
