Just making it clear that I'm not asking whether I should take it or not, or asking for any medical advice, so I think I'm allowed to post it here, if not close it is lol.
So I was put on Cipralex 10mg yesterday, obviously asked a million and one questions to my pharmacist and my doctor and did my research, however I was curious if anyone takes the exact same one? I realize different anti-depressents work different on different people, but I just wanted to know how people felt immediately after or even way after.
The websites state side effects and what not and people's "reviews" for lack of a better word talked more about another drug Citolopram? They say that the side effects should be more or less similar.
I just want to hear your experience with it and how long insomnia and/or upset stomach usually lasts for you guys, apparantly you crash before you get better which seems absolutely ridiculous if you already feel unhappy.
What dosage, how long have you been taking it for, did you feel better? Especially curious about it NOT working for anyone and how you realized that and what you did.

I was on Citolopram/Celexa for about a year... maybe a year and a half. It made me grit my teeth alot, caused my jaw to lock up and for the most part, I kind of always felt "high"/slightly disoriented and out of touch with reality. If I remember correctly, my dosage was 10mg as well. It didn't help with my insomnia (my doctor said it takes 8 weeks or something to take affect). In fact, it kept me up all night the first few weeks.
"It was tender and mild, like baby Jesus."

Whatever you take that gives you side effects to give you a high feeling, the jitters, conspicuous movement and etc, is pretty much not good for you. You should try and look for herbal medicines that can help you instead, just got to make sure they're 100% herbs. Should talk to one of those asian vendors who sell all those dried herbs. Those actually work and they're not harmful for you. Hope this helps

ugh omg never take these meds. doctors think they just can just prescribe you a pill to make your mental health better. I was given xanax for anxiety and it totally made me feel weird and out of it. and after I stopped taking it I couldn't sleep 3 days straight and my mind was always on alert and still to this day I can't completely fall asleep like before I started taking it. Just my intuition. Please try other ways (exercise, tea, yoga.. etc.)
EDIT: I only took xanax for 2 days.

To the above posters:
If you've never been prescribed the medication in question, why are you responding?
She's asking for opinions from people who actually have experience with that specific medication.
Xanax is good stuff btw.
I sleep like a baby on Xanax.

I would suggest you post in a forum that is not Soompi, most of the posters here are teenagers and thus, do not have much experience with long term drugs (hopefully not anyways).
I personally have not been put on this medication but I do have some knowledge on SSRI (the class of drugs that Cipralex and Citolopram belongs to) . These types of drugs were introduced in the 1970s thereby have a very short research history. Long term effects and study on this drug is not well established if you are looking for scientific research articles.

Here is a forum posting where the replies are a bit more in depth on the individual poster's experience.
Good luck and I hope you'll be able to find out more about the medication that you've been put on beyond the standard pharmaceutical/medical reply

There are a few people here with the actual medical knowledge to answer her questions. And apparently we have a person who has taken it before.
I wonder where you are from, because I've never heard it called Cipralex in my life, since I see it as Lexapro all the time. This drugs is rank #3 on the top 200 drugs prescribed in terms of volume/money I think. It's a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor. This means that serotonin will stay in your body/brain longer, as depressed patients have shown to have less of it.
The main side effect is feeling tired/drowsy. Your body has to get used to it. And yes, it does take about a month before this drug actually has any significant results. This is because your body has to down regulate and increase sensitivity.
If you are going to stop taking this med, you have to TAPER the dose. Don't be like that other girl on soompi who stopped taking Xanax cold turkey. Your body cannot handle it. It's like quitting smoking cold turkey for a guy who smokes a lot. Stopping Xanax abruptly will lead to rebound anxiety. You get like supersaiyin anxious lol.
_________
For those who say she shouldn't take the meds should think twice. Yes, I agree some people do not need it, but medically some people really need them to live with their daily lives. Talk to a psychotic patient with and without meds. There's a world of difference.

hello. you have good points. I should have made myself clear. I only took xanax for 2 days. and those were the effects I had. Xanax is a highly addictive drug, as are most other benzos which is why I really recommend not taking it or starting them at all. Definitely try other ways first :]

Well, Xanax is also a depressant, so the reason why it made you feel "weird and out of it" was because it was making you sleepy. The alertness/insomnia is a result of stopping xanax quickly without tapering off like you're supposed to (withdrawal symptoms).
You're right though, it's a highly addictive drug (it's a C-IV, afterall) and you should think about your situation before you decide that you need to take it. However, like kuku said, some people really need to be placed on this drug. We don't know the situation of the person who started this thread, thus we shouldn't be the ones to judge her on her decision. For all we know, she could be taking it for seizures, right? Let's just stick with the topic at hand. All she asked was for people who have experience with Escitalopram (Cipralex or Lexipro) to share their opinions of the drug with her.
To the OP, I'm not sure if this was the right place to ask for experiences with this drug. A lot of the people on this forum are really young and inexperienced so you might want to try elsewhere :\
EDIT: wait, why are we talking about benzodiazepines here? The OP was talking about Ciprolex, which is an SSRI..................
