My HP laptop recently broke. The screen and keyboard was punched and so the screen is cracked and the keyboard has a huge dent in it. I can turn on the computer but all that happens is a really loud BEEP and black screen.
I was wondering how exactly to go about saving all my files (music, docs, pictures, software)
or if anyone had an experience where they could actually just replace the screen etc, to save the laptop itself?
I've had to laptop for about 2 years, was in great condition.
Taking it to some computer store and then they put all my info on a CD? USB? I dunno ? Would it be really expensive?
Also, I dont have a new laptop yet. Would I need to get it beforehand o_o?
Any info would be great, THANKS!!!

Let's hope your hard drive isn't busted. If you have a desktop pc, you can purchase a laptop IDE to desktop IDE adapter. This lets you plug your laptop hard drive to the desktop and you can access your files from there. I don't know if you have a sata hard drive, but if you do, you will need to get a laptop sata to desktop adapter. Just make sure they fit.

It'll probably cost a lot to repair that laptop due to the broken screen and keyboards. Your motherboard might be damaged as well, but since there's no pictures, we can only assume.

I recommend the second one, if the laptop was purchased within the last 2 years then it probably has a SATA drive. There are cheaper variants of the cable like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...9-169-_-Product just search "SATA to USB adapter" to see your options. You WILL want to get it with a power brick.
Also, if you have a desktop computer (within last.. say 3 years) you can try to connect the laptop drive directly to the computer.
The hard drive is located on the bottom of the laptop (I assuming its the DV2000, DV6000, or similar model) if you need explicit directions, you can ask or search on support.hp.com site they will give you information on "hard drive replacement" Just need to take off two screws on the largest rectangle on the bottom. The drive is held in with two more screws then you can just lift it out. There is a little adapter on the drive that you can just pop off and you will get the standard SATA connector you need for the adapters.
Consider opening the middle flap with the grid lines, the ram is under that... ground yourself and take out the ram chips then put them back in, the Beep sound often indicates ram error.. and if it was hit it might have popped out.
