Since the thread seems so quiet I wanna post a comment on Bi's 4th album Rain's world
Find it interesting
1. Rain's World (Intro.) - Okay, so reviewing an intro doesn't seem to make sense, but if it were a purposeless song, it would not be on the CD. This definitely builds you up for the music to come, and who can get over how nice it is to hear Rain talking to you?
2. I'm Coming (feat. Tablo) - When i first heard this song, I immediately had visions of Rain possibly leading an army of Rain clones to take over the world. lol! Well, thank goodness that didn't happen, but I think it expresses how well this song conveys the idea that Rain is Coming. With his world tour and attempts to break into the US market, what better a battle cry then "I'm Coming"? Meaning and mood aside, this songs beats are hot like bacon on a skillet (so sue me, I don't do similie jokes very well....;_;). This is definitely a good song to pop your chest to...haha...it's in the choreoraphy anyway, so my visions of chest-popping proved correct. The beat is really drilling and staccato...which would seem annoying if it weren't for Rain's smooth as butter (I really should never use metaphors!) voice. This song is so well-balanced in that way.
3. With U - This song makes me happy. Again, the whole package of this song conveys the point of the song so well. It's about a happy love! A love that you were positive would last, and did. This is a great song with cute lyrics, and fills me with warm fuzzies! It makes you long for that kind of childish, fun love...the kind of love you feel when you so blissfully head over heels you have to sing and dance to get it all out. Maybe that's how this song came to be? I don't know but sometimes it's nice to feel that way, and this song does a good job of making me feel that way....
4. In My Bed - This song is so good! I think I really appreciated it more though after I saw the PV for it. It's a classic "I caught you cheating on me why did you do this to me I'm so sad!" song, but let me warn you, Rain's vocals might completely melt you. This song has a nice slow jam beat; a lot of soul. One word to describe this song: sexy. Though it is a sad song, it is still sexy sounding. The lyrics are so sad, and the beat is sexy, but it still works. Gosh Rain's songs do a good job of doing what they are intended to do. Again, credit goes to JYP and his knack for beats.
5. Not a Single Day - Another lower-tempo song, though not as ballad-y as In My Bed. This is a song with a meaning similar to "Running Away From the Sun", but not as melodramatic I think. These lyrics are very believable to me, and I'm sure we've all done the things Rain does in this song to try and forget someone...Another interesting blend of beats with song meaning... Excellent mixing in my opinion. At first the song sounds pretty level tempered, but the lyrics are very sad.
6. Cassiopeia (feat. Im Jeong Hee) - I will admit that this song isn't my favorite on the album, but surely has its merits as a memorable duet. This song is really good for Rain's voice I think. I love to hear him do such gentle songs on an album when he also sings a lot of vocally powerful songs. I tend to dislike Im Jeong Hee's voice though...though her vocal tone is well matched with Rain's.
7. Him & Me (feat. Dynamic Duo) - Ahhh!!! What a refreshing, clean sound this song has. This is such a fresh beat. Everything about this song works. The beats are minimal, the vocals are minimal, the rap by DD is smooth and clean. This is like an ice cream on a hot day for sure. There's not a whole lot going on with this song, but at the same time there is. It's hard to explain!! So simple, but extremely effective. Kudos to JYP for producing a minimalist hip-hop beat. There aren't enough of those.
8. Don't Stop - This is another minimal-type song. The bass isn't overwhelming, the fading quickness and slowness of the rhythm is nice...it's like a wave to me....building up, coming down...not the best similie but I've taken long enough on this review that I really don't want to think of anything better! O_O...anyway, the syths in this song are excellent. I personally find synth strings annoying as heck, but they're used so effectively in the chorus of this song. The lyrics of this song are great as well...very sexy indeed. But not in an offensive way...a gentle sexiness. Yes...this song is gentle sexiness…I was waiting for the right words to come...lol
9. Touch Ya (feat. C-Luv) - Finally! My favorite track! I said before I love to dance, and this is that one track that really gets me going. This is such an awesome beat. The tune of the synth at the beginning is so enticing...anyone who likes to dance will not be able to resist! I mean, it is a song about dancing, so it should make you want to dance!...the lyrics are pretty spicy too...the beat and the attitude in Rain's voice in this song really portrays that "hot and sweaty in the club" thing well...The chorus is really fun to sing along to! I love the piano/string chord hits too...I guess that's how you would call those... They add a special touch of intensity to this song. The bridge is a nice, timely voyage away from the tension and severity of the song, and it blends perfectly back into the groove with the shouted vocals all mixed together...this song really makes me want to go clubbing with Rain...haha....I also dig the hints of bongo in this song…I love bongos!
10. Move On - A gorgeous ballad. This is my favorite ballad on the album. Perfect in every way. Nice piano tune balanced with that bit of hip-hop flavor...and...I hear bongos again!! Oh, I can never get enough of those...The chorus is really lovely. I like the touch of acoustic guitar as well...For a slow song, this still makes me want to groove...it has one of those beats that are still lightcore danceable. (I like making up terms for everything....like lightcore danceable...haha) This song also highlights Rain's smooth, powerful voice. I just love how perfect this tune is for his voice. It lets him stay in his vocal comfort zone I think better than the other ballads...I like hearing songs where he goes into his lower range...I know a lot in the song he goes high too...which sounds really good, but to meet it seems lower in general? I know that's not too favorable in pop music today, but I like his deep voice.
11. Oh Yeah (feat. AI) - This is another on of those songs I just want to dance to. I was surprised at first to hear this Japanese song on his Korean album, but it was refreshing...changing things up. AI's voice goes so well with Rain's. I love the low-end piano in this song...since the synth is rather high-pitched; it's balanced so well. I love after the bridge when they start stylizing the tune...They have really good vocal chemistry in this song.
12. Friends (feat. Tiger JK) - This is such a nice touching song! I love the piano in the beginning...I hear a touch of jazz! Just a touch! Nice song to change things up with. I thought the singing with the kids went a little overboard with whole "we're pulling on your heartstrings" thing. It's pretty cheesy, but a nice song nonetheless. I can't listen to this a lot though...I'm not a slow song kind gal...I love the rap that is put in this song. Tiger JK's voice...and that little strain he puts on the end of his sentences...very reggae-ish? Anyway, it's an interesting touch that works very well with the song. Any song that can mix jazziness, hip-hop, pop ballad, singing children and a reggae rap is fine by me.
13. To My Friends - This is instrumental, but it really does well at bringing the album to a close, basically a twist on track 12's tune.
14. I (B-Garage Remix) - eh...I guess this is sort of the bonus track of the album. This song is ok, but I would love to hear the vocals more pumped up. The beat overpowers the vocals way too much. I prefer the original of this song, but if the vocals were loud enough to have the power they had in the original, this song would have been 10x better. I love the break beat and scratching that happens before the bridge though....that part's hot. The beat itself is unique...but I find that this song went a bit unreasonable with the almost inaudible vocals...
Basically, this is an awesome album, and truly shows off the diversity in Rain's talent's, as well as the genius of his producer, JYP, and every member of the production team. This album is solid; no complaints buying it!
I hope someone appreciates my painstakingly long review...with some very horrible attempts at humor...
