AP is a test by test bases...and a little easier because all you need to do is take the test and pass...
I think that those school looks as the two programs pretty evenly... so it's up to you to decide how much work you want..

from what i've heard of in my area, ib courses are harder in general than ap classes, but then again it could just be my location.
in general, AP gets more recognition within the US, but seeing as you're planning on harvard or princeton, they recognize the difficulty of the ib program as well.
oh btw, the IB exams are supposed to be slightly easier than the AP exams, particularly the math ones.

Of course IB is better. Teachers at my school blatantly stated that already. When you're in IB, you write a whole lot of papers. When you get to 11th grade, you start doing informal orals in classes in preparation for your senior year. I heard that we also have to pick a topic for a class and do an extended reasearch essay on it. You also get paper 1 and paper 2, not completely sure what those are but they are hard.
I say go for IB if you're aiming for Ivy Leagues. There are a whole bunch of AP kids, and much less IB kids. By the way, if your HS offers IB and you want to be a valedictorian, pick IB because all IB courses (that's possibly your entire schedule if you're in IB) are out of a 6.0 GPA.

HOWEVER, you don't need to take the AP class to take the AP class.
I've taken 3 ap's without taking the class.

in my opinion, IB has more intense courses, you have to do a lot of extra work and score really well to become get the IB dimploma...
AP is a test by test bases...and a little easier because all you need to do is take the test and pass...

TAKE THE IB.
when i went to an open house for my hig hschool thing a whileeee back..they had a chart comparing AP graduates to IB diploma students..and for ivy leagues..IB HAD WAY HIGHER PERCENTAGES..there was even one that took 100 percent of IB students compared to like 70 something of AP..UPENN had like 40 percent for IB compared to AP and for cornell it hink it was like nearly 60 percetn compared to 40..and idr harvard..but
definitely take the IB although it will be more work, it will pay off in the end.

the main advantage of not taking IB and taking a lot of AP classes and post-APs is that it'd probably be easier to pursue your own specific areas of interest and/or a wider range of different ones, I think. also, APs are good if you're pretty strong in certain types of subjects but not really in others, then you can take harder classes in the subjects where that would be a good idea for you but not in the areas you maybe are bad at. how hard AP classes are depends on the school, though. at mine even regular classes are hard and APs are usually really difficult, but at my base school a lot of the APs that're hard at my school are comparatively freakin' easy. if they're not that hard at your school then maybe you should do IB.

The registration asked which ap you took and the years in which they were taken. They also asked your scores.
However, I do not know if they ask for your IB classe though.
Ask someone who applied and took IB's.

i don't know about the UC school system, but most of the private schools that i applied to in california asked for which IB classes i was taking.

I had to choose between IB and AP.. and went with IB.
I was told that HL IB Classes are more challenging than AP Classes, and that IB Classes involve more writing.
I went with IB, because my counselor told me that IB would look better for colleges. haha.
BUT, I am dying from IB Math HL.. -_____-;; But, other than that, it's okay. There IS a lot of work, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Senior isn't hard. Junior year have prepare everything for you already. And my IB english teacher is a smart ass that she check every little bit of word student wrote. If you get only one word wrong during the test, you won't get credit. ahha I got D in IB english in Junior year.
Senior I got B first mark period then A through the semester. I don't know, maybe I got an easier teacher where during the test she don't really give us long essay.
Go for IB, it is much cooler and I hear like almost people who is an Full IB Diploma has a high chance of getting to Harvard University.
I love Math but HL is so hard. And I'm an candidate but I'm taking any IB Exams in May. I feel bad because now I want to take it but it's too late. cry cry
ahah sorry my sentence is fragment and does not make sense.

Also. If you pass all your IB tests and get enough points to get the diploma, you get Freshman standing at the UCs. That's always good.

then again, it just depends on what you consider to be more difficult.
i take 4 HLs, english, history, biology, and chemistry. i think you're only required to take three, though.
