FF9 beat X-2 to be the worst FF game IMO.
if you saw the speculation from a thread on Gamespot, i can tell you that's a joke topic. seriously.
it started cos GQ9 is going to be released on DS. and one of the main reasons is due to the series has always been very traditional and it suits DS's less superior processing power.
but for FF series, you can see the trend just by looking at the games since 7. so it's near impossible the core FF games will end up on Wii in future.
and 1 last thing... if it's official, it will end up on its official site.
really?? hmm, it must be a really widespread joke cause a lot of my friends were talking about it. Well, I'm quite relieved that it's not, hehe
Whatever, I'm happy the main FF's are not gonna be on the Wii =)

i honestly didn't think it was great nor was it bad. it was a very neutral FF. 8's the worse for me. at least ffx-2 has a good battle system. if i can't stand going through battles, then i don't care how good the story, characters, or graphics are(which weren't good in 8 anyway)

i agree with your look on the battle system being more important than the story, but then again i haven't played much Final Fantasy games (only played FF7,10,10-2,12), which are known to have a strong plot.

Personally, I think all the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" products released so far have been second rate. But Crisis Core looks so good that it could turn things around on its own.

The one that I enjoyed the least were V & IX. V simply because there was nothing extrodinary about the system (I was spoiled by Tactics improved system) and I did not like IX mainly due to the last boss, which came out of left field and decided to give you attacks like Grand Cross, which would very often take every single character in your party out with massive status changes.
I'm surprised at how many people did not like X-2, which I felt had a very well done battle system. The story although weak, I felt was a very bold move on SquareEnix's part, from the VERY linear story of X.
I have yet to even touch XII although I do have the CE version, I plan on starting it soon after I finish up Magna Carta : Tears of Blood.

i dont mind which is worse, 9 or X-2, the point is they both suck and arent worth playing unless you want to brag about how you finished all the FF games or somethin
i didnt get all the ultimate weapons on FFX too, its friggin impossible

Getting all the higher end weapons in FF XII is worse. Some of them require that you do very specific things during various stages of the game. For example, one particular weapon's requirements was that you didn't open certain chest boxes way in the beginning of the game. I can see how they might do something like this for a tiny number of items but in FF XII tons of weapons follow similar requirements and if you did not buy a strategy guide or download a complete walkthrough, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get them. Even luck wouldn't guide you in the direction of obtaining them.

i agree. it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
i heard getting ultimate weapons in FF11 is the worst. supposedly, getting weapons in ffx and ff12 are nothing compared to that lol.

9 was fun playing....i liked it
10 was the first one i beat. loved the ending and great music--->i think i cried....LOL
X-2 was boring....no storyline but great graphics--->loved 1000 words
12 was alright. i thought it was a bit short and those side quests are hard!
