Well I all honestly I felt that Italy deserved to win anyway. Truthfully the score should have been 2-1 before OT in Italy's favor if you ask me, because I don't think that guy was offsides before he headed the ball in the goal. IMO, that was a bad call. But what can you do? You move on and fight harder. And Italy did just that.

Also, playing dirty? Let's not forget France was no angel in this match either phew.gif Including several dives from respected players. If I mention the name here I am afraid I will get bashed crazy.gif The Italian's offense played well in the begining of the match and their defense played well throughout the entire match. France played decent throughout...but I feel Italy outplayed them. I wanted France to win - but italy's performance in this game was better.

Exactly. The contract says he can still play until 2007, but he already said goodbye to us, since our league ended more than a month ago. It was his decision. You should know it if you love Zidane so much.

YES. I'll support him too. But didn't Materazzi get hit in the face "on accident" after Zidane was out? biggrin.gif By Thuram, I think. And, though I like Christiano quite a bit, I REALLY REALLY want to see how ManU and the fans will react. AHH. These last few games were like... fight to the death games! <3

Honestly, I enjoyed the boo-ing for the ref's call when Zidane got carded. FIFA didn't need to replay it. In fact, they aren't supposed to. The refs didn't see it, the video was replayed, Zidane got a card.

It made me cry when they didn't even allow him to get a medal. T_T And then he looked at the trophy and those stupid photographers taking his picture and those stupid American commenters kept commenting about how disappointing it was. At least they pointed out that he's a legend. smile.gif

Geez...why insult a person because of his religious background? and why headbutt the guy?

Both were in the wrong...how shameful sad.gif

Let's make one thing clear: Zidane head-butted Marco Materazzi FOR A FACT. But where is the proof that Marco said anything negative to Zidane regarding his religion? Where are your sources? I mean, I've checked pretty much every sports news website out there and nowhere did I find any truth to this ridiculous accusation. I think it's a vicious attack on Marco's behalf to spread such a nasty rumor. So if you have evidence that he said this, please, enlighten me. Post up what you've read or heard because right now, Marco has the benefit of the doubt. If he did happen insult Zidane's religion, then hats off to Zidane! I support him 100% for his rash but nontheless admirable attempt to shut Marco's trap. Like I said, that's a terrible, terrible rumor and I really hope it's not true. I STILL LIKE ZIDANE REGARDLESS, I'M JUST DISSAPOINTED.

I don't have any proof that marco insulted zidane's religion. It's just what others have posted.

-edit-
regardless of what is the real story, BOTH were in the wrong. obviously Marco provoked him with some unnecessary comments, and zidane reacted in a shameful manner. Like I said before, both should be ashamed.

well the news is wrong. He was born and raised in Marseilles. His parents came over to France 20 years before he was born.

you can check any other source if you want to.

No, it's just an assumption, and not necessarily his religion, but his background. Zidane's only known for blowing up when his background is insulted. That's a fact. Otherwise, he won't blow up. And honestly... I'm not sure we'll ever get evidence, Zidane is very private, before, he wouldn't even say the name of the person who helped him decide to help France out.

Will there be any new players on Real Madrid? Wow, he can still play until '07, that's only a few months! AND, he was and still is, the highest paid football player. I wish him the best.

Italy was really lazy towards the end. They were slow. France were the ones attacking. They would have scored numerous of times. Buffon is a good GK.

Zidane understands because he's played in Italy, I believe. He's probably picked up Italian.

don't worry about it. I know people get a bit defensive when it comes to players they like. Don't worry, I won't headbutt you....

^Yeah, and the FRENCH players dived and acted too. sheesh. I saw the Austrailian game but i was judging Italy on THIS match and this match alone. Keep in mind I was ROOTING for France because I really respect Zidane and it would have been a great way to end his career. Acting or not, italy outplayed france from the way I see things. They had great possession over the ball throughout the entire game, and their defense responded well to any pressure put on by France. and not to mention all those penalty kicks were absolutely beautiful.

yeah, one source said his Italian is better than Totti's. haha. Totti's known for his rather crude manner of speaking.

France dominated the game from the latter half of the Second Half. Did you see Trezeguet after the game, watching the Italians celebrate? ..........poor thing.

Actually, Italy's not supposed to be super at PK's. I think it was Barthez. You want beautiful PK's? Look at the PK's scored against Buffon or Ricardo. Few of the best GK's in the tournament.

Italy weren't playing well in the end though. FRANCE WAS. Man, Italians were diving three times in a row, in less than a minute!
