It just came to my attention that the College Board has gotten my name wrong on the information they sent out to colleges and possibly the National Merit Scholarship Corperation.

It's correct on my PSAT, but on all the letters from colleges and their e-mails to me it's wrong. Should I e-mail them and ask them what to do and if so, how formal should the e-mail be?

You should definitely write to them.
It doesn't have to be very formal, but formal enough to let them know that you're an educated individual being who knows proper grammar and spelling.

On a second thought... just "formal" enough to communicate. College Board is here to serve YOU.

I just did and that's basically how I wrote to them.

The funny thing is, on all my score reports, and registrations, it's only the e-mails from the college board itself, and from the advertising colleges that are wrong sad.gif

Haha, too late. I had e-mailed them before I could add that in.

Here's what they sent me

Thank you for contacting The College Board.

To report an inaccuracy on your account, please call SAT Services at
1(609)771-7600 to speak with a representative.

Thank you,

But that was the wrong telephone number to give me, because I said that the PSAT/NMSQT must have been where the inaccuracy was in my e-mail and the number given is for the SAT

so I called and was told to call this number for the PSAT
1 (609) 771-7070
but found out that everyting on my PSAT was fine and correct.

I then had to call the Student Search Service at 1 (800) 626-9795 and finally found out that that's where the error is.

I then called the NMSQT people to make sure my name was correct there.

So in case this happens to anybody else, these are the people to call.

I emailed them when I had a problem. It was quite pointless. They just told me to call them. All it was was a simple yes or no question. Stupid bastards. rolleyes.gif

Life is friggin' fantastic.

I'm kind of wondering if they even read my e-mail =/
