Hi, I am considering going to purdue for grad school, and I was just wondering how the lifestyle is there? How's the environment and how are the people that attend the school? Thanks!

well, i root for purdue only because i'll be attending there this year, but from what i hear from the juniors & seniors of purdue, they really like the people and the environment around there. people are very friendly and they welcome you with open arms!

and i heard very good things about their grad school as well. good luck with your decision making!

It's odd but there are so many Californians that goes to Purdue. I wonder why myself but no doubt Purdue does have an awesome Engineering and Pharmacy program. But the downside is the cold weather sad.gif

Purdue is a pretty decent place to go. The campus is not the prettiest but the people here are pretty friendly. There are over 500+ clubs available and if you can't find one right for you then you can create one. The academic programs at purdue are all good especially engineering, vet, pharmacy.

University of Indiana...are you referring to IU bloomington. If you are then it is one of the most beautiful campus i've ever seen. And yes it is known as a party school but in my opinion it's all about quanities where purdue is qualties tongue.gif

Hope this help you a bit but you can probably tell i'm bias toward Purdue tongue.gif

Haha I'm pretty sure it's Purdue. I'm going for the Biomedical Engineering graduate program. Hopefully, I'll know by the end of this week! Thanks for the replies. Is the area like a small town or is like a busy city?

My sister goes to Purdue; she's in the pharmacy program. I went over there and I was appalled when I saw loads of people, women, in general, walking around at around 8 in the morning, skantily clad. It was 40 degrees out side. I asked my sister and she said its a club called the breakfast club(?). Apparently, they drink from sunset to sunrise? One of the more stranger things I've seen.

Anyways, my sister loves it there; she's having the time of her life and she loves the program. I did hear that Purdue's engineering program is wonderful. My friend is attending there this fall for engineering, in fact.

I haven't really heard much about IU but I've heard its a gorgeous campus.

Wherever you decide to go, I'm sure you'll do great.

:]

It's funny that this question popped up cause my Philosophy teacher just talked about Purdue University today. He said his whole family went there, including himself. He met his wife there and as well, one of his kids is going there now. He talked very highly about it so i bet that it's very good. Good luck on choosing!! smile.gif

Purdue University is located in West Lafayette which is a very, very small city. But if you every miss the big city you can either go to Indianapolis which is an hour away or chicago which is 2+ hours away.

If you are going into biochemical engineering, Purdue is definitely a better choice for you.

haha, i'm not smart at all! i got very lucky when they accepted me. purdue is an awesome school for engineering, so i would definitely choose that over IU, even though IU is BEAUTIFUL.

i'm majoring in hotel management and purdue is the #1 school in the nation for that, so i'm glad i got accepted.

good luck on your decision making! smile.gif

dude, i was planning on going to Purdue this fall for biology... since i was accepted in february or so,.... or their pre-veterinary program, but changed my mind when i got an acceptance letter from UC San diego just because it was closer.

But i would go. I've heard good things.
I'm kind of unsure now about UC San Diego..... well i can't be, because i've already submitted my intent to register.......... but man. MAN. Goodl uck to everyone whose going to Purdue! I would have been a future boilermaker had the uc acceptance not come. And plus it costs more as an out of stater..... i had to weigh pros and cons.

But its a beautiful place... sad.gif perhaps i will consider purdue for grad school.

UC San Diego is awesome! They have beautiful weather, nice beaches, and a pretty chill nightlife...check out Pacific Beach. If all else fails, go to club Safari in TJ lol! I don't know anybody that goes there and doesn't like it! The campus is huge...I got lost driving around in there when I visited my friends from there. I want to go to UCSD also because their graduate biomedical engineering program is #2 in the nation, right behind John Hopkins...but I got rejected! lol good luck man.
