I'm from NYC so a lot of my friends commuted from home. It'll be a much better experience -- albeit, more expensive -- if you dormed there. A few of them did that, and they seemed to have a lot more fun. Nothing beats a weekend in Manhattan!
The professors don't really care that much about you, though. But, what more can you expect? Kids are from all over (mostly from NY/LI i heard), but there are definitely kids from cali, hawaii, texas, etc. (the big states).
good luck! and don't worry..i think EVERYONE gets accepted lol.

^ definitely not.
...i think?
they do. And plus, don't you have to take that test with almost every subject in it: physic, chem, bio, math, etc. in order to get in?

I personally went through the process -- I was accepted, as was every other person I know who applied (10+). There was no test required either. That's why I don't believe only 280 applicants are accepted. There are various programs, and I know that the business program itself has 50-100+ kids. Then there's the engineering ones, etc. If 50-100 kids enroll in the business seminar, then that means well over 200 applied (and probably accepted).
