I'm second year clinical student in health science. First year, you would rotate through each station, pharmacy, occupational therapy, radiology, etc.....but this year, I pick one thing and I stay there the whole year. I picked nursing, so I'm with some RN, LVN, or PCT, every other day of school for around 2 hours. I like it a lot since time passes by fast when you walk around. The nurses gets comfortable with you and open up and teach you too, but YOU HAVE TO ASK QUESTIONS or else they won't tell you jack.

that's exactly what i'm doing! here's how they do it at my school...

health science tech 1-learn basic stuff like vital signs, the body, etc.
health science tech 2-clinical rotations to different areas of the hospital twice a week
health science tech 3-internships at a specific area three times a week.

last semester i interned for a neurosurgeon. i saw surgeries twice a week, then a clinic day. it wasn't that great. i couldn't really see anything. but it was sort of my fault too. i wasn't very assertive and didn't want to scrub in lol. this semester i'm interning at a surgery center. it's kind of boring too. i just see the same things over and over again. mostly shoulder and knee scopes. but overall it's interesting. the only way you can see a lot of stuff and actually do things is if you're assertive.

oh and this is a hs program that the schools in my district offer. i don't know if mistapooh is a hs student or not, but i'm assuming so.
