i've noticed that there are different types of manga drawing styles... for instance.. hyung taekim draws his cartoons differently from the normal mangas i see.

see tae-kims manga characters.. their faces are diff to the normal ones e.g eyes and nose.

do they have names for these styles like hyung tae-kim styles and normal ones? unsure.gif

it's just different artists with different styles.

it's not like they learn how to draw specific styles for their drawings.

^ not really. there are mangaka who draw male teens/adults w big eyes too.

this style thing is really simple.. it's just like handwriting. smile.gif
everyone has his/her unique handwriting & it's almost impossible to find 2 pple who write exactly the same. it's hard to categorise each & every style. in the past, u can clearly distinguish the shoujo & shonen styles. but now.. it's kinda hard to tell for some manga.

Of course they're different. Yes, it's like handwritings. They vary depending on style of art and preferences but what you have posted up are two very different artists. The art for Magna Carta is by a Korean artist. His art is more similar to other Korean artists while the artist for Sailor Moon has art similar to Japanese manga art.

Also, Magna Carta is more recent compared to Sailor Moon.

Art seems to change as time changes. There is no "normal" or "different". If you prefer differences, Hyung Tae Kim's can be referred to as "manhwa" whereas Naoko Takeuchi's is "manga".

yeah i guess it depends on the mood/theme of the manga, if its one of those happy-go lucky stories then the characters usually have big eyes, if its like horror/thriller then the eyes are usually smaller to show more of a depressed/serious scene . I prefer japanese manga style drawings cause they look better. Even though im chinese myself, i hate chinese manga style, i find them annoying =/ Korean style is pretty good too, some arent as nice but they usually have hilarious expressions laugh.gif

i may be wrong though ^__^

it's just his preference.
some artists are very meticulous(sp) and put a lot of time into details.

if he's drawing full color comics, then maybe that's how he likes it.

i mean...there's a whole range of styles to choose from.
CLAMP with X was very detailed.
furi-kuri had less details.

if it's drawn then it's manga...
i write an important thing, and do not let's finish. a way of writing for freedom.

There is no such thing as "normal" manga drawing.

Well, theres Shoujo (girl-oriented) and Shounen (boy-oriented) drawings. Other than that its just however the artist chooses to express him/herself ^.^

Kim Hyung Tae draws MANHWA.

Not MANGA. There's a difference.

And different artists have different styles.
Diversity makes the world more interesting.

Sailor Moon is definitely shoujo. Old-school shoujo?
