So I'm pretty new to this side of the forum, but judging on most of the replies on topics of the SAT and such, yall are those asian child prodigies. So I'm in a dilemma and I need help

I'm a junior, so everyone around me is already looking for colleges and such. My mom wants me to go to Emory University minimum; she'd prefer me to go ivy league.

The classes I've taken thus far and plan to take have all been Gifted and AP. My GPA is about 3.985. I'm involved in 10 after school clubs and activites and already have about 11 cords lined up for my graduation. I have considerable writing skills so the essay part of admission is not a bother.

Then there's the issue of SATs. I took the test in January 2006 and got a 1950. Hardly enough to go to GA Tech.

My parents are pretty mad right now. They want me to take an SAT school thing on weekends so that I can take the test again in April. Problem is, do they really help? I went to a 4 week one and all we did were practice tests. Big help, let me tell you. dry.gif

So do all you SAT geniuses recommend going to an SAT school? Did you go and did it help?

I don't know. I don't like the idea of going to school 24/7 nor do I like the whole "spend money for a better score" deal. It's like cheating. Ahh, whatever. Anyways, your advice?

Um... the SAT class I went to kind of helped. The teacher I had explained things clearly and told us what the tricks were for the critical reading section and told us what the graders "liked to see" for the essays, and all that stuff. And actually, you get better by practicing, so the practice tests should have helped. But in order for those tests to be effective, you should review each question after you finish taking it and really make sure you know why the questions you answered correctly were right and why the questions you answered incorrectly were incorrect.

And we really can't tell you anything about the SAT place that you might go to. The teachers could be crappy or whatever, and that definitely would not help you.. duh. haha Ask a senior or a junior that's previously taken those classes for their opinion and ask them if it helped them.

Taking the tests over and over helped me see the pattern.
To tell you the truth, on the writing section I sometimes don't even look at the rest of the answer choices. I start by looking at the shortest answer and see if it works. lol... I missed 3 out of... 60? I think.

Beh.. I'm a senior and I don't care anymore.
