This thread is created for the sole purpose of discussing games developed by Konami.
Konami is my second favorite game developing company because of games like Suikoden and the Metal Gear Solid series. Anyone excited about MGS IV as much as I am for the Playstation 3?! Anyone ticked off because Rumble Roses II is only for the Xcrap 360? I know I am, hahaha!
My top two Konami games
One of my very few disappointments with Konami is that they only re-made MGS for the Gamecube when it was originally released for the Playstation. I don't own a GC and I never will because I'm not a sell-out (lol), so I would never get the chance to really experience what the first MGS for the Playstation would be like in the form of the second MGS game on the Playstation console. The pros of the MGS series are game controls, graphics, storyline, sound, and creativity. It literally throws you into a whole new world of espionage.
My other disappointment with the developer is the lame, low-quality ending for Suikoden. I mastered that game to perfection like I do with all my games, but the ending left me unsatisfied; I wanted more! I was hoping for a good animated ending to that game not the House Party-esque ending.
Afterall, do you know how long it takes to master that game? Top priority in mastering any game is to find all the hidden characters then master them to whatever level the game lets you get to. You had to find all 108 stars of destiny, their runes, and their weapons in order to claim mastery of that game! However, Konami didn't punish the gamer too much. Thank goodness the gambling in that game made it easy to gain the upgrades. They say games aren't bad for you, but I must admit that I was a gambling addict after playing Suikoden. The main pro of the game its battle systems. The six versus six, duels, and strategic battle system lead by Thomas made this game perfect. I couldn't ask for more in a battle system.
Also, Each character had a unique story to his/her own and each character was unique in their own way. The ability to create your own army and empire made the game ever so memorable. I remember when I first played it, it shocked the heck out of me that the Castle started changing as I found new members. All in all, I loved every bit of the game except for the sad excuse for an ending.
I can be a dork at times when playing RPGs because I can't help going to each character to talk to them to see what they had to say. Ugh, it is a bad habit though because I'd go pass the time limit for the game by doing that. An example of passing the time limit is when my time meter on Final Fantasy VIII turned red. I was told that if it goes pass a certain amount of time then the player won't be able to complete the game. Anyone know if that's true for most RPG games?
Well, that's my brief take on two of the best series ever to be created by Konami.

Edit
Who cares GC got the remake version MGS but PS2 got a MGS3 which imo it was better then the the first 2.
Edit:
Some people like it and some People don't like it because it's something not seen in any of the other Metal Gear games, at least not to this level.
Gameplay-wise, it plays just like MGS2, the main new addition other than graphics and the new direction in cutscenes.
Some people dont like it for some reason, but I have watched those cutscenes over and over again.
So overall
It is basicly the story from the original, but all of the features from MGS 2.

that said, I think my all time favorite Konami game By FAR is Snatcher.. while it is short, it has an incredibly interesting story, great music, and great character design.. after all..it is one of Hideo Kojima's masterpieces along with his Metal Gear series.
other games is Contra, Konami yes, but developed by Treasure. It has alot of reply value and probably the best controls in its genre.
and yeah, Metal Gear is nice too but I expect everyone to bring it up
Some games I wish that came over:
Policenauts - considered a sequel to Snatcher, although has little to do with it.. same format, more cut scenes, and lots of PSX and Saturn technology to improve it over Snatcher (although yes, Snatcher was remade for those two consoles, along with the Sega CD, PC Engine CD and MSX).
Esper Dream series - there were 2 released for the Famicon (NES), 1 looked like crap, but 2 had very good graphics and controls for it's day, lots of large sprites too. Plays like an action-rpg, story involves a boy falling asleep at a library and able to go into the world of any book he finds..and solves the problems in that world.
LaGrange Point - another rpg released in the ending days of the Famicom.. like Esper dream 2, very good graphics and sound for its time.
as for Snatcher..I can't reccomend it enough.. the best version one could find and play 100% flawlessly is the Sega CD.. there are Genesis emulators that are able to run Sega CD Isos and Mp3s with out requiring you to burn it to cd. As a former Sega CD owner, the emulation is virtually flawless, even the v-sync is accurate. There are other versions too, such as those on the MSX like SD-Snatcher (uses a top down RPG interface), however the first versions lacked the 3rd chapter (3 chapters in total). The remakes for PSX and Saturn were toned down as some found it too graphic (i.e maggots on corpses, etc), which makes the sega cd version probably the best one out there.

Two of the games that I like, not necessarily my favorites, are DDR and Contra the classic version.
DDR was the "cool game" when I was in HS so I followed the trend and bought it, played for minutes until I got tired.
Contra, on the other hand, is the game that I loved to play when I was a wee lad in Vietnam. I was about 5 or 6 when I first play this game--even though it's been out for a while, we were a little behind back then, so ehh. We couldn't afford a Nintendo system up until I was 7 or 8...so before then I would always go to a local arcade-like game shop to play. They don't have the huge arcade machines like the ones you'd see, but instead they have a bunch of NES in a room, they'd charge like 2,000 VN dollars (around 20 US cents) for 30 minutes of game play. I'd save money my mom gave me for lunch or snack and go there to play Contra with a few friends, freakin' awesome! Big machine guns shooting an endless amount of continuous super cool looking amunitions at monsters and aliens, what's not to like about this?
Edit: And also Ninja Turtle, same reason as Contra. We didn't understand the story line of this game at the time so we thought that April, the damsel in distress, was one of the guy's gf or wife.

I love Contra especially with its easy cheat code, hahaha! The classic Contra is a legend in my book. I'm actually wanting to buy a Nintendo just to play that game again. Dance Dance Revolution is fun too, but I wish they had better character designs like Bust-A-Groove.
Range, you are the Man (if you're the opposite then my apologies)! You explained your thoughts very well, and I have to agree with you about Policenauts. I hope Hideo creates a perfected version of it for the Playstation 3.
MGS 3 is a great game, but we all should have seen it coming.. MGS 3: Subsistence (Online Play: The first MGS game to be played online.) It's a perfect way to end the first trilogy of the series. You can unlock hidden characters like some of the girls from Rumble Roses as well as bosses to play online. Online play consists of two modes or more. The player can play as Solid Snake versus a group of terrorists (your friends), or you can play team versus team (mixed characters). Solid Snake, Revolver Ocelot, and The Boss versus two of the girls from Rumble Roses and The Fear, or Blue versus Red terrorists. I hope it doesn't change for the NA version. I can't wait!

lol thanks. Are they making a new version for the PS3? if so that would be great.. but SCEA can be annoying.. companies like Working Designs had alot of trouble with them as they were pretty strict on what can be released in the US.. reminds me of Nintendo back in the 90s..
anyone like the Parodius series or Goemon?

i love MGS series. though the fourth one is kinda screwed... snake looks ugly in MGS4 but he is handsome in other MGS.
silent hill is cool though SH3 was screwed and i like RE more than SH.
and no doubt that i love PES, who likes soccer/football love PES.
about MGS you guys, do you think its the last one of the series? cause i doubt that... though kojima is mad and maybe he really kill the poor snake and finish the series....
and if he finish it do you think can he make another great series like MGS to make fans more satisfied?

As the originator of this thread, I thank you all for contributing!!
The suspicion that the MGS series will not end with the 4th is highly plausable. Knowing how Hideo created his own company which he coined Fox Hound, there is no doubt in my mind that MGS4 is the last we shall see of Solid Snake. Anyone know if the Live-Action MGS MOVIE rumor is true? I hope they don't trash it. Seeing how the movie Beowolf was created entirely using CG it would be wise for Hideo to stick to CG as well for any MGS movie he decides to film, release.
As for the Suikoden series, I am disappointed in myself for not purchasing Suikoden II when it was on sale for 20 USD. Has anyone seen what it is selling for NEW and UNOPENED at places like Amazon.com or Ebay?? The cheapest I've seen so far is 500 USD!! Final Fantasy VII isn't even selling for that much! If anyone can help me locate a reasonably priced "unopened" Suikoden II then I will greatly appreciate it and I will also give a handsome reward of 100 USD just for helping me. I've been dying to get my hands on that game. Every site I've visited says it is THE BEST RPG of all time. Yeah, I'm a collector, haha!
I'm glad someone mentioned Z.O.E. It was a fantastic game even though it always made me nauseous half the time I was playing it. I would love to see a Z.O.E. for the PS3. Hopefully they clear it of glitches and fix the camera system before they release it.
On another note, I believe that fans of the Castlevania series should get together and demand a remake of Castlevania Sympony of The Night for the PS3. I can't even fathom how beautiful that game (if done right) would be. -sigh-
