Hey guys, I've been really confused
I really suck at spanish, im in 4AP. I got A in that class somehow, but I don't want to take the AP test
Some people tell me you HAVE to take it in order to get the A weighted (5 points), and some say you don't.
I'm confused, clarify? thanks

This depends entirely on what your school's policy is.

mai skew doesnt weight grades. only collages do that for you =/
i think they still weight ur grade...it just doesnt count as college class credit. so basically u hav the repeat the class in college again...why not take the test?

Usually your school counselors will send in your weighted GPA so don't worry about it and there's no special school policy about that I know of unless you go to some strict high school or some screwed up one.

You don't have to take the AP test to get the weighted grade credit from the AP class.

you should take ap tests that you know you will have to pay a bunch of money for in college. if you get a good score on your ap test you can receive college credit and you'll save money and time smile.gif so it really shouldn't be just what you get on your report card. think about the long term.

Mmm.. in my school- teachers recommend that you do take the AP exam when it comes.
My english teacher for English AP highly recommends us all to take it in May so that we can get out of that freshman english 101 class in college.

for foreign language, i dunno... Maybe you should as what the others above me have said to you :]

At my school, you don't HAVE to take any AP test, but then they say you should. Because if you don't, you probably wasted your tine in that class preparing for it.

But this a question that you should maybe ask your Span. 4AP teacher.

Colleges tend to frown on guys who duck out from taking the AP test. At least that's what Princeton Review told me. sleep.gif

Taking the AP is basically a regulation to be sure that the A you get isn't just because the class is easy.

Last year someone from our school got a 5 on the Chem AP test and got a B in her class because the class was really hard, but this other girl from another school got an A in the class, but only a 3 on the test, which shows that her class was probably a lot easier.

But it shouldn't affect your GPA, you just won't get college credit for it, meaning your going to have to take it again.

I can take 6 AP classes but I can take no ap tests.

Really... I don't think colleges even weigh AP's anymore. It over-inflates your grades. My friend's brother had a 4.8 gpa in his senior year if you count AP's.
AP eng, calc, physics, and gov... and one elective class.

no. its weighted if your school has weighted GPA for honor classes. if you dont take the exam, you just dont get college credit for the class. you still get the credit for high school

well, it's better trying than not trying at all.

at my school, the exam and the grades you get don't coincide. if you're not taking it your grade is still weighted.

well the grade you earn depends on your school's grading policy. but like someone else said, colleges don't like it when students don't take the AP exam. for one thing, it's saying the only reason you took it was for the extra weighted point and it'll be hard to believe that your A in the class is legitimite unless it is backed up by the AP test. and on the other hand, if you pass the AP exam, you don't have to take the same course in college which saves both money and time.

You should take the AP exam anyways because then it seems like you only took the course for a weighted grade so it looks bad on your part..
