trying to become a vegan, haha
because...
in korea,
i saw a truck of pathetic looking chickens pass by
and in that moment,
i felt horrible, haha
it came to my senses where these chickens were going
and it got me thinking about how cows, pigs, etc
were all slaughtered just so i could have a satisfying meal
i felt pretty selfish, haha
and so, i stopped eating meat from that day on

i pity vegetarians. they should just enjoy the food God gave them to eat.
i never understood the philosophy of vegetarians
i don't think you shoud pity vegetarians
vegetarians choose not to eat meat
(unless it is against your religion....)
just because we don't eat meat
doesn't mean we don't "enjoy the food God gave [us] to eat".
there are other foods other than meat, you know...

I am a vegan and I do not understand why you pity those that do not choose to eat meat for whatever reason.
One can abstain from meat and animal products and live a perfectly healthy life (and do). Many do it because they feel that they do not need to kill another living thing to live (they don't) That to me sounds more spiritually connecting with many religions ideal of doing no harm until others living things.
I eat a vegan diet (it is actually a buddhist monk diet, consisten of 3 parts) for several reasons.
When I was losing weight (almost 100 lbs) my diet consisted of lean meats (white meat and fish) but very sparingly, at most, 2-3 times a week. As it progressed, I adjusted my food a lot and generally ate meatless and that evolved into a full vegetarian diet.
After a while, I realized I didn't like how dairy made me felt so I began eating a dairy, animal free vegan diet.
After that, I began looking into full on veganism and animal rights, but I realized it is a very skewed, distorted thing so I got out of that and do veganism for myself because it makes me feel good, I never impose it on others. I am not a cliche animal rights radical, I just thought I'd point that out and i have to say most others aren't either..it's just a bad image that seems to be associated with vegetarians and vegans.

a similar thing happened to me actually , but i was driving somewhere in the countryside one day (god knows why) and we drove past a sign that said "abattoir" , and it made me feel a bit sick .. i kind of felt bad about eating meat after that , but i kept eating it . then one day i bought some beef thing and it gave me food poisoning , and since i'd been thinking about going vegetarian for quite a while i figured i might as well start then . unfortunately the first thing i ate when i got better was chicken soup
yeah . i'm vegetarian (plan on becoming vegan one day , although perhaps not strict , but do intend on maintaining vegetarianism) , just because i feel like it's not right eating animals . sometimes i think about how nice it would be to eat some bbq chicken or whatever , but in the end i feel like it's not worth it . my head couldn't hack it .
it annoys me that vegetarians are always portrayed and thought of as hippies , though . even in that mcd's ad that was on a while ago , there were all these normal people running around eating burgers , and then they were like "oh and we also have a vegetarian option" and there was some hippy wearing hemp pants and a singlet w dreads in his hair .. it's a bit sad .
.... i don't think i'm fanatical or anything ..

i hope to become a vegetarian some day, cuz i don't want to eat meat, or kill animals to eat meat, but my mom disallows cuz she thinks i need the protein and nutrients, so she wants me to eat meat. maybe next time in life when i grow older i will gradually cut down my meat intake and become a vegetarian
The only thing meat has nutrients wise that plants don't is iron. Which can be easily obtained by eating more dark green veggies and taking vitamins.
just out of curiosity , how do you vegetarian / vegan people keep vitamins up , without taking tablets or supplements ? (i think they're bad for me) ..
Multivitamins are not bad at all. Don't confuse them with weight loss pills and all that. Taking a multi vitamin like centrum should be done with everyone, meat and non meateaters alike. If you still don't want to take pills, just eat a variety of different plants and fruits.
lol ii love meat.. and personaly ii dont know why people are vegetarian. If it's because they think meat is nasty OKAY. But if it's because they think they're harming the animal and its torture thats another thing. Because the vegetables you're eating is the animal's food , and you're taking it away from them. Lack of food kills them too =I
That is the silliest thing I've heard.
Production of vegetables requires less land and time than production of meat and maintaining animal farms.

Anyways, I think the important thing to question is whether its right to put our personal tastes over the suffering of other creatures. That question is what pushed me to be a vegan.
