it depends on what you're shooting for; if you're shooting for one of those ivy league colleges, i would say 2100+. but the average for the new sats should be about 1500 or so. if you're not really looking into the ivy league type colleges, i would say 1800+ is good.

Yeah because many people say you can't compare directly the old and new because of the writing section.
because the percentages and stuff hasn't come out from the writing

But it should approximately be

1500 ~ 2250
1400 ~ 2100
1300 ~ 1950
1200 ~ 1800
1100 ~ 1650

right?

But that's kind of unaccurate because you can get a 800 V 800 M 500 W and get a 2100 whereas on the old test you would've gotten a perfect score. So it's hard to compare.

just wondering (sort of off topic sry), what scores do you guys think i should aim for to get into the UCs? The UCs im aiming for are Berkelely LA and maybe San Diego. thankssssss =]

and yeah, it depends on what college you want to go to. theres not a "good" score or a "bad" score.....all your own opinion i think depending where u wanna go

^ That seems about right to me.

I personally don't find it accurate to simply convert 2400 to 1600
I think it's more accurate to only add up your math and verbal scores to get a real score out of 1600.

1590 on M+V or M+V+W?

If M+V, that's excellent and you're a candidate for top tier schools.
If M+V+W, that's the national average (I'm assuming 530~ on each section), so you should be able to go to various schools with that, too (like state schools).

i know it's a horrible answer, but it really depends on your GPA and the schools you're interested in... i remember the GPA average for UCLA being 4.25... but the SATS were less threatening... i think about 2010-ish.
