Architecture in Helsinki i know from Rage. do they sing the song 'It's 5' or 'It'5' or something. the video is dizzying until the end where the guy throws up in fornt of everyone........
Maximo Park are a good band. maybe after a couple of listens you'll be impressed! i love 'graffiti'!! and 'apply some pressure' is good too. 'a certain trigger is another tune you should check out.

The Grates play very catchy upbeat hyper music....they're supporting Arctic Monkeys on a few gigs. they have a myspace/site and a couple of songs on there. they're an australian band.
i'm not sure if they're indie but has anyone heard of The Cops?

and they sure ain't indie...
I think I've heard of The Cops... but I haven't heard any of The Cops. I dunno but their name just made me think about the Redsunband?
I like the Grates too! They have a new album out don't they?
Dogs Die in Hot Cars = awesome band... lovin' the eighties.... yeah, they might be mainstream now.. but I'm not too sure...
my friend has a "Dogs Die in Hot Cars" badge, and all these people were asking her if she was some kind of sadistic animal abuse person (since it said dogs die in hot cars)... oh the amusement.
In regards to Architechture in Helsinki, yup that's them.
haha gotta love rage... there was many a late night spent in front of the TV watching wacky music videos, mind you, it gets dull after 6am. you get your typical chart fare...
oh yes for those of you who haven't already I really suggest you pick up some street publications in your local area! I find that street press (those HUGE A3 sized free newspaper/magazine like "Drum media" (for all those fellow sydneysiders out there!) and are great sources for information on indie music.
They have a lot of interviews, features on new bands, tour dates, upcoming tours, music reviews and stuff...
I think you can find them at local music (especially guitar/musical instrument) stores (though don't hope to find them in your local Sanity
thanxs for the vids MUXU, I might go check em out.

The Cops are an Australian band from Sydney and they released their first LP in '04. their song wallet/puffer/smokes/keys is the one that got me hooked on it and after i couldn't find any songs online i went to buy the LP and i haven't regretted it since. they're not that well-known just yet but they have about 2 videos on Rage.
Rage is the best resource for indie music in my opnion because apart from hearing the songs you can see what they're like and all. if you go on their website every Friday arvo you can check the updated playlists for Friday and Saturday night programmes. at the end of the artist's name and song name, they have the record comnpan'y name whether it be BMG or Virgin. some of them have 'Independant' which shows you what to look out for in the near future.
Sanity has their own magazine {SAIN}. which i sometimes pick up cos they have an interesting cover story or for their dvd section. SAIN doesn't cater for indie tastes, more of a Top40 kind of thing. though they do have the odd "breakthrough" artist every now and then.

dogs die in hot cars had that awesome song "i love you 'cause i have to" , didn't they ? i hate saying the band name , though , it makes me think of my dog and being slighty worried . great song , though .
my dad gets drum media sometimes (he's very unaware of his age , it seems . or he's still a cool kid , stuck in an old man suit) , but i don't think i've seen it about the house lately . perhaps i'll have to see where it's gone . i picked up a couple of magazines at a store a few weeks ago , ones i've not ever seen before , and they were so damn alternative i just spazzed and put them down
there's this girl i know and she's okay .
there's this guy as well , he's much the same .

my sister found a new band called the automatic . http://www.myspace.com/theautomatic . may not be very indie . maybe we should just assume that the "might be mainstream" tag applies to any bands i mention from here on out , plus those i've mentioned before . eep .
there's this girl i know and she's okay .
there's this guy as well , he's much the same .

Frou frou are(were?) indie(i think) and they pull out some great tunes, even if they arent indie they sure are alternative and those two might as well be pretty damn synonymous(in my eyes). Anyway correct me if i'm wrong.
the automatic sound pretty decent EMA.
I just gave the doves a listen, i reckon they're pretty rad. I'm also a fan of The Presets and Cut Copy, they're some awesome stuff.

yeah, there can be indie pop, rock, whatever. as long as its on an independant label it can be classified as indie. there are heaps of indie artists out there (hidden in your local area, possibly) so check them out when you have a chance!
