Belle & Sebastian, i've heard a lot of stuff about them and their supposedly quite popular in the UK. i'm gonna give them a try as well.

Architecture in Helsinki i know from Rage. do they sing the song 'It's 5' or 'It'5' or something. the video is dizzying until the end where the guy throws up in fornt of everyone........

Maximo Park are a good band. maybe after a couple of listens you'll be impressed! i love 'graffiti'!! and 'apply some pressure' is good too. 'a certain trigger is another tune you should check out.

petit, yeah that's the one.

Wolf Parade, Kaiser Chiefs, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Interpol i like

My mates are fans of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Grates, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Broken Social Scene and Tegan and Sara ... i haven't given them a good listen yet so i dont know how they fare in my eyes.

Dogs Die in Hot Cars are good. though i listened to one of their songs ages ago, i DO remember them being good.

The Grates play very catchy upbeat hyper music....they're supporting Arctic Monkeys on a few gigs. they have a myspace/site and a couple of songs on there. they're an australian band.

i'm not sure if they're indie but has anyone heard of The Cops?

heard about The Police...

and they sure ain't indie... sweatingbullets.gif

I think I've heard of The Cops... but I haven't heard any of The Cops. I dunno but their name just made me think about the Redsunband?

I like the Grates too! They have a new album out don't they?

Dogs Die in Hot Cars = awesome band... lovin' the eighties.... yeah, they might be mainstream now.. but I'm not too sure...

my friend has a "Dogs Die in Hot Cars" badge, and all these people were asking her if she was some kind of sadistic animal abuse person (since it said dogs die in hot cars)... oh the amusement.

In regards to Architechture in Helsinki, yup that's them.

haha gotta love rage... there was many a late night spent in front of the TV watching wacky music videos, mind you, it gets dull after 6am. you get your typical chart fare...

oh yes for those of you who haven't already I really suggest you pick up some street publications in your local area! I find that street press (those HUGE A3 sized free newspaper/magazine like "Drum media" (for all those fellow sydneysiders out there!) and are great sources for information on indie music.

They have a lot of interviews, features on new bands, tour dates, upcoming tours, music reviews and stuff...

I think you can find them at local music (especially guitar/musical instrument) stores (though don't hope to find them in your local Sanity wink.gif)

thanxs for the vids MUXU, I might go check em out. wink.gif

i like reading street magazines, i usuall pick them up just outside JB Hi-Fi near my area. the one that is usually out front is 'Beat!' which had all your music stuff ranging from all kinds of genres. there is also a newspaper type one but i can't remeber what its called.

The Cops are an Australian band from Sydney and they released their first LP in '04. their song wallet/puffer/smokes/keys is the one that got me hooked on it and after i couldn't find any songs online i went to buy the LP and i haven't regretted it since. they're not that well-known just yet but they have about 2 videos on Rage.

Rage is the best resource for indie music in my opnion because apart from hearing the songs you can see what they're like and all. if you go on their website every Friday arvo you can check the updated playlists for Friday and Saturday night programmes. at the end of the artist's name and song name, they have the record comnpan'y name whether it be BMG or Virgin. some of them have 'Independant' which shows you what to look out for in the near future.

Sanity has their own magazine {SAIN}. which i sometimes pick up cos they have an interesting cover story or for their dvd section. SAIN doesn't cater for indie tastes, more of a Top40 kind of thing. though they do have the odd "breakthrough" artist every now and then.

thanks v much for recommendations and the like , everyone <3 MUXU , those pete videos are fab`lous ! oh and , i like kate moss just because she's pretty , and desperately thin x_x and she seems interesting / enigma-ish / possibly actually very boring but nobody's allowed to know . and pete's just hot . and they're both lovely looking together laugh.gif

dogs die in hot cars had that awesome song "i love you 'cause i have to" , didn't they ? i hate saying the band name , though , it makes me think of my dog and being slighty worried . great song , though .

my dad gets drum media sometimes (he's very unaware of his age , it seems . or he's still a cool kid , stuck in an old man suit) , but i don't think i've seen it about the house lately . perhaps i'll have to see where it's gone . i picked up a couple of magazines at a store a few weeks ago , ones i've not ever seen before , and they were so damn alternative i just spazzed and put them down laugh.gif if i don't recognise any of the artists for a few pages , i tend to feel intimidated by the indie-ness of it all and get ashamed of my mainstream-ness . plus sometimes they do bits on metal bands and they creep me out O_O;
ema <3 LUPEN

there's this girl i know and she's okay .
there's this guy as well , he's much the same .

the song 'i love you cos i have to', reminded me of Franz Ferdinand at one stage. i think it was the accent in the vocalist's voice. aren't they from scotland or something?....

^ the jeans in your signature are amazing by the way *stares*

my sister found a new band called the automatic . http://www.myspace.com/theautomatic . may not be very indie . maybe we should just assume that the "might be mainstream" tag applies to any bands i mention from here on out , plus those i've mentioned before . eep .

The closest thing to indie I listen to is Natalise and she's only indie cuz she's not signed up with a major label. But her music certainly don't sound indie.

indie doesn't have to be total rockin' band

Frou frou are(were?) indie(i think) and they pull out some great tunes, even if they arent indie they sure are alternative and those two might as well be pretty damn synonymous(in my eyes). Anyway correct me if i'm wrong.

the automatic sound pretty decent EMA.

I just gave the doves a listen, i reckon they're pretty rad. I'm also a fan of The Presets and Cut Copy, they're some awesome stuff.

jcraze, The Doves are awesome. i first fell in love with em when i saw the 'black and white town' music video and the tune was bloody brilliant. great band.

yeah, there can be indie pop, rock, whatever. as long as its on an independant label it can be classified as indie. there are heaps of indie artists out there (hidden in your local area, possibly) so check them out when you have a chance!

i usually only buy cds if i can't find the songs online [hey, what cna i say, i was born into a digital era...] And usually, those cds end up being an unknown yet to be discovered indie band biggrin.gif
random: my country still hasn't stocked the Arctic Monkeys EP.....damnit.
