Arhg I would list who I like, but it would just be a repeat of the ones everyone else has already mentioned. -0-
BUT! I'm glad alot of you guys have such good taste in music helping me out in filing my mp3 player.

as for the fan's since the begiging thing. You know, I like music just to like it, I don't care if they are popular or not, as long as it sounds good I'm cool. I guess because I'm not that young anymore and don't obsess like I used to. I mean I remeber when I used to know every single thing about a band/group I liked. Now I know thier name and that's it. I'm not looking for thier life stories or how cute they are as long as they can get me through the day and they are enjoyable. I hate when people rant about it either way. it's just music and your enjoying the music. I guess I am saying I dislike fangirls. HAHAHA >__< don't beat me.

Okay now to go listen to the recomendations from here. MUAHAH new ear candy!~

Expatriate are a great Sydney band. they play sorta psycadelic rock i guess. some pretty catchy tunes. they somehow remind me of The Cure, though i'm not sure i'm thinking of the right band......... 'killer kat' is a recommended tune!

I really like Yellowcard. They have this unique style that I think is slightly different from any other typical bands. But I don't know, most bands sound a like laugh.gif

I really don't think a band shown almost every half hour on MTV should be considered "indie". dry.gif

I really don't bother anymore... the term "indie" lost its true meaning a loooong time ago. wacko.gif

Yeah, The Ugly Organ was probably their best ablum. But I also like Domestica...

Mmm took someone's advice and began listening to Godspeed You Black Emperor!...they're great =). Usually I get tired after listening to instrumentals, but Godspeed is something I never got tired of. Great tunes, I say.

I don't think you've heard enough. Yellowcard is definitely not indie & they definitely do NOT have a unique style.

i find MySpace is the place to go for indie/unsigned bands. there are some absolute gems if you look hard enough. i reckon, if you look for one indie band you can look at their "friends" list and find a whole lot more similar sounding bands/artists. i am absolutely loving The Enemy at the moment. they have a really unique modern-Oasis sound to them. check them out at www.myspace.com/theenemycoventry

Mainstream = highly publicize?
Indie = Unsigned or Signed under a small label? or not many know about?

I never understood these terms...can someone clear this up for me.

I add Buckethead

ermm pple uses these terms diff. but from what i understand, mainstream means popular. its diff from indies vs major. indies is basically underground or having no label or under a small one. major is when they get signed onto a major label, like universal records for example.

some think tt once you become mainstream... or more popular, they are automatically major. but i guess tt really depends on the band itself. some bands prefer to remain an indies band, thou they are no longer underground anymore.

here are just a few bands i listen to..or listenED to..
Architecture in Helsinki
blocparty
belle&sebastian
copeland
grizzly bear
guster
hotel lights
imogen heap
joshua radin
lovedrug
matt pond PA
minus the bear
modest mouse
portishead
stars
sufjan stevens
soundgarden
ted leo and the pharmasist
the honorary title
the weepies
the shins
