heck yeah. last year my friend and i did it for gym credit.
gosh, the first time we were in the room, we were like about to die after like 5 minutes and the person was nice and opened a little window for us. but yeah..i was mad nauseous until we got use to it. everyone else in the class was like in their 30s.

i wasnt flexible at all and it was mad weird and i felt weak and stupid at the same time bc i couldnt do any of the posed except the "tree pose" hahaha.

also, if you are planning to do it like regularly. go like more then ONCE a week bc your body needs to get use to the heat. if you go ONCE a week, your body will NEVER get use to the heat and ull always feel uncomfortable and nauseous. my friend and i went like 2-3 times a week.

yeah. im not sure about losing weight and stuff but DEFINITELY, after you finish sweating and crap (a good 1 1/2 hrs), you feel SOO GOOD. and less stressful.

if you're planning to do it, good luck! and im sooo excited for you too!

oh yeah. make sure u dont eat before you do it bc the heat and food doesnt mix well.
also, drink TONS of WATER before you do it.

ok im talking too much. i encourage u to do it soooooooo much!

Oh there is a thread on bikram yoga! I just posted one to see if anyone else has benefitted from this at all....I've been practicing for nearly 7 months now 5 times a week on average. It is so amazing for you. Weight loss will be gradual. If you are CONSISTENT (it really is the key in this), you will not only lose weight after a month but it will SHAPE the heck of your body. This practice works on your cellular level as well and through the 26 postures, they help you realign your inner organs and strengthen them, flush them, and strengthen their location so it really realignes your internal workings as well and strenghten and lengthen just about EVERYTHING inside your body while shedding fat. This is also just life changing, I know it's a bold statement but it REALLY is. But the key is CONSISTENCY for realz. They say 2-3 times a week minimum but from my own personal experience, during the first month you should go 4-5 times a week to really change your body. The logic behind this according to the institute is this: Bikram Choudhury (the founder of bikram yoga) says in order to make an appropriate shaped sword, you have to constantly slowly bend the metal and shape it over time in heat. That is how the body will achieve this - hence the heat. The heat really helps you with your flexibility and detoxification. The heat will be really hard to adjust to during the first 3-4 days but trust me, you will absolutely love it once your body gets used to it and you get used to the postures which will probably take place in your 2nd week? Though some absolutely hate the heat and prefers regular yoga but I LOVE what the heat does for me. I have lost 20 pounds though I have gained beautiful muscle tone that you just can't get from westernized workout like dumbells, etc. I think you get the most beautiful toning when exercised against your own body weight. I know peeps who have lost 60 pounds over a year.

Bikram yoga will give you the body that you are meant to have when you are slim - if that makes any sense. So if you see people who's practiced this for a loooong time, you'll notice not only how "skinny" they are but you'll be kinda wowed at the beautiful SHAPE of their bodies. It really shapes your body and I think this is why this practice is so unique.

People say "you do the bikram hot yoga thing?" I just want to clarify that bikram yoga is NOT hot yoga and vice versa. If you want further information on as to why, please ask me as it will take some time to explain and I don't want to digress from the real topic here - Bikram yoga will be the best thing you can do for yourself forever!

If you are interested, they have an unlimited weekly pass for $23-25 (this is NYC price).
1. their main website: www.bikramyoga.com (it has a listing of all of their studios all over the world under classfinder tab)
2. www.bikramyoganyc.com (info. strictly on NYC of course)

I did it for a year, I agree that it makes you sweat, but didn't really make me lose lotsa weight. It does make you feel good afterward, because you feel like you released lotsa toxin thru the sweating process. Also I became a lot more flexible.

However, I would be careful, my mom and some friends (who done it for about 5 month) have damaged their muscles by stretching too far. Because the room is really hot, so you can stretch more, but wat you don't realized you might have over stretched for your limit. Just be careful.

i love it & i hate it. i love how i lose weight fast & still stay stress free & its really good for the skin. but really... working out in a sweaty frenzy makes me feel like im about to die. but i LOVE the results on bikram yoga.

but if i had to choose, id stick with pilates.

its 100 degrees fahrenheit or approx 40ish degrees celsius so um just saying 100 degrees is misleading
i had a panic attack during my first class yesterday and i barely slept last night
not sure i will go again

i LOOOOOVE bikram yoga: i eat better, i'm less irritable,
better in sports, more flexible, more toned. and i know the heat
sounds kind of intense, but once you get in there and you lie down
on your mat, your body will slowly adjust to it. and i can do all
the positions better in a heated room D:

just don't push it in the first few classes, because i remember
feeling faint-y during wheel, and some of the back stretching poses

OOH I have been wanting to do yoga for a while, and bikram yoga intrigued me the most because of it's use of a heated room.

There's a studio a couple blocks down from my school and I wanted to go...but I wanted some friends to come with me too lol.
