I think UCLA has a legit shot at the championship now that head coach ben howland has turned around the program to a high caliber defense machine. I personally don't think duke is going to win it or even U conn, they are very good but it doesn't seem like they have that extra swagger to em that makes em stand out.

okae dude, i love ucla. i'm the biggest fan of the backcourt duo of afflalo and farmar, but get real. no inside game. unless hollins, aboya, mbah a moute, and fey become really solid, theres no chance, and they haven't showed any signs of life. they just don't have anybody that stops anybody

afflalo and farmars inside drive is enough to be a force to be feared. I believe hollins and fey have potential
to make inside shots...
Yeah..ucla going all the way being champs might be my personal wish, but right now it doesn't seem like there is that one dominant team with a swagger to win it all the way. I think its fair game

i don't know about duke, their good and all, but the lack of a third scoring option is what scares me. uconn is a consensus pick. my suprise pick is tennessee. teams that full court press have great success in the tourney, and tennesse does just that with athletes.

When it comes down to big games, its all about the back court , which UCLA excels in. Whoever mentioned that UCLA doesn't have big guys has probably never heard of hollins or fey...they are around 7 foot.
I saw them on campus last time and dang, they were tall..however, hollins was a little on the skinny side. I don't think it would hurt to gain a few more pounds for his inside game.

there's talk that sumpter could return in 2 weeks. im torn whether or not he should. it would be great to have him back, but maybe not so great for his career.

When it comes to back court option, I don't think any team can beat Villanova's Allen Ray and Randy Foye... Clearly two of the best guards in college basketball right now. What I see as their problem is their size, and if they get outmuscled and outrebounded, then it can be a loong day for them... They have to set up the tempo with points, especially the 3-pointers they're so good with.
villanova reminds me a LOT of the flyin illini of last year...

we were not the flying illini last year. that's the 1989 team. orange krush actually did everything in their power to make last years team different from that '89 team.
and villanova guards are better at creating shots for themselves. illinois' motion offense was why the team was so darn good. west virginia is more like illinois, in that they run the offense to perfection.

dubbed so by the honorary dicky v.
i'm just talking about the personell, if i'm not mistaken, they also go three guards, correct?...
bah, i feel as if the illini are overacheving this year and the bubble is about to pop...
