YG is hip/hop. R&B. And the people who are getting mad and talking bad about the YG Fam... well you just need to stop. because quite frankly I dont see you with a contract. Nor do I see you making it big ANYWHERE. And if I'm wrong well then please correct me.

...

I get tired of listening to "I make tha' doe, and I kill that dude, or I F***ed this Ho." Why not rap about something funny or that actually matters? But that's just me.

Algerlanny, there seems to be one major contradicting issue in your opinion. You seem to be a YG fan, and yet you say you're tired of rappers rapping about money, murders, girls, etc. However, that seem to be the major theme in the YG "hip-hop" groups. I have to admit YG has some talented R&B and pop singers. However, it is the very fact that YG "rappers" (e.g. ITYM) like to rap about stuff (just like the so-called American gangsta rappers) that makes me wanna turn off their music. (Example. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=pH8k2COES8c).

The reason that I am all for the MOVEMENT music is because they got real poetry in their music (not ALL, but most). When you look at artists like Drunken Tiger, LeeSsang, Sean2Slow, Tasha, etc, these are real street poets with real issues to talk about.

To me, YG to other Korean hip-hop artists is just like comparing 50 Cent to Common (or Talib Kweli). Sure, one may be more popular and makes more money. However, for real hip-hop fans to enjoy music, I think most of them would agree that music with real content is the one (and the only) thing we listen to.

This, too, is a personal thought. No hard feelings, and I'm not being rude or anything - just a personal opinion.

PSYL: I can have a casual conversation with someone. its cool. blush.gif

See I'll be honest... I dont speak Korean... dry.gif but i am slowly learning. And i dont know the translations to a lot of songs. but you can kinda get the drift of what's going on.. blush.gif

and i understand that YG does rap about that stuff, now that i've like looked at the lyrics more closely dry.gif , but they have a limit on how far they go about it. i listen to some of these songs on BET and MTV and i just turn it off... i dont wanna hear details on anything that people do... and i havent heard anyone in YG say i f**ked that ho or whatever... what i really meant i guess is i dont like explicit lyrics... its really not needed... yes YG raps about girls, n stuff but its nothing like explicit...

I agree... I dont listen to YG alone... I like underground... but im still kinda new to it. i like epik high, drunken tiger, dynamic duo, Tasha, and the honey family... their lyrics do have more depth. i never said that they didn't. Dont think that I'm bashin on underground cuz i'm not at all... I was just gettin on some things that people were saying that didnt make sense to me.

and i also agree. listening to something with actual issues is better than listening to something with none...

As far as 1TYM, yes they do rap about that stuff... which is why I dont listen to them as much nor am I an avid fan of theirs...

BUT this is an opinion!!! CASUAL ANDFRIENDLY CONVERSATION... blush.gif ph34r.gif no hard feelings sweatingbullets.gif

If that's true, then I'd like to know everyone else's category.

Is this really 45rpm?

[Note: I only ask because I found their performance quite amusing. I know it's them, hehe.]

Yes, I know them. They are ok, whether people think they are real hiphop or not. Further I like to listen to some old stuff from CB Mass, Garion & Leessang.

^ BaeChiGi is great. I like most of the artists from SniperSound and their minimum use of English in their lyrics.

To algerlanny, I respect your opinion. I, too, get tired of people getting extremely offensive when they come to a sensitive topic. That's why I got to keep writing "it's just a personal opinion" so people don't take it as an universal statement and need to be overthrown.

Did anyone try to listen to 45RPM's Hip-Pop album? I downloaded the whole album for about 30 minutes. Give a quick 1min listen for all tracks. Then I deleted them within a heartbeat. What a waste of my time...

What's the song called? I'm interested in Rhyme Bus tracks, especially with Clazziquai.

BTW anyone listen to Drunken Tiger and T mini album called Rhapsody?

PSYL really know's his Korean hiphop, because the answer to this thread is plain and simple. And that answer is:

MOVEMENT.

They represent everything true to hiphop - thought provoking rhymes and beats that don't need to be sugar-coated in order to compensate for the emcee's lack of talent.

Seriously, there's incredible depth and variety in the Movement Crew. You have living legends like Drunken Tiger, quality underground artists like TBNY, even artists that appeal to a more mainstream audience like Epik High, and to a much lesser extent, Dynamic Duo and Eun Ji Won.

The other label that I think it really worth listening to is Soul Company, which houses artists like Kebee, the Quiett, and Loptimist - an extremely talented producer.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on mainstream music, because I'll listen to and enjoy YG artists as well - I'm just saying that I find that there's more substance to other artists such as the ones in the Movement Crew.
