Make sure you install the ActiveX. Are you using firefox? Try IE.

It was firefox... the newest version of it apparently hasn't quite been properly debugged, reverted to the slightly older version and it worked... can never get enough Soul Company, that song is fresh!

Just made a playlist with Primary Skool, Eluphant, and the Soulman & Minos collab CD, might add some P-Type.... super jazzy feel, anyone know of any other artists who I should add? Probably going to toss in a few songs from M&A and Primary Score / Primary / Primary & Mild Beats.

NUCK IS BACK! (for anyone who cares)

Soul Dive is going to be EPIC. MS&SM is going to blow [e] out of the water.

(SOUL DIVE)

[MAD SCIENTIST & SWEET MONSTERS]

Cool Running’.

MS&SM release has been moved to the 18th. Most likely because of you-know-who's album dropping on the same day.

I just got my digital copy from Mnet. Naver music is being slow.

Honestly this is the BEST K-hip-hop album I've listened to all year. This is not an exaggeration. Far surpassing V and FANATIC. There are only 12 tracks but they fit perfectly with the whole vibe MS&SM was going for.

FREAKY GAME 108 should be the national anthem.

Seriously guys. This album is awesome.

That is all.

*listens to Free Thought*

Let me make this simple: MS&SM > everything that's been released in 09. Including [e], The Passage, V, Feel gHood Muzik, etc.

Personal faves

CREAM is excellent. It's hard to find weak song. Dare I say SALON 01's best album yet (too early?).

Right now MS&SM = CREAM. But I'm kind of leaning towards CREAM.

If you can't find a way to listen to it right now, just hit me up. It's just too good to pass up.

I'm pretty 넋업샨/IF biased, just so you know... ha

넋업샨 is one of my favorite rappers... his flow is insane and his lyrics are incredible.

I managed to find a copy... it's a little more "raw" than the feel I usually go for (ie. The Quiett, Minos, Kebee) but it really is probably the album of the year... hot tracks, hard lyrics...

This is the new Soulman & Minos album for me

MC Sniper is eh, imo... only really good track put out by him was Better Than Yesterday, and that was a really big collab album... Asadal is the resident authority here, but this is a mini-list of artists I really like:

Favorites from Soul Company:
The Quiett
Kebee
Minos (solo album and Soulman & Minos album are excellent)
Loptimist
Hwana

Others:
MC Meta / Garion
Infinite Flow
Drunken Tiger (mostly albums 5-7)
P-Type
Addsp2ch
Primary, Primary Score, Primary Skool
Dynamic Duo (debatable if they're considered underground anymore)
Ignito / Vitality / Revenans (freaking sounds like the voice of God)
Dok2
Gaknakunae aka Superman Ivy
Soul Dive

The Quiett is actually my favorite producer (his music is very much "my style")... he's under Soul Company records. He and Loptimist do a TON of producing for all the Soul Company artists. Most notably he produced the track for 8:45 Heaven, which Tiger JK won the award for Hip Hop Song of the Year at the Korean Music Awards.

He's got a few albums on iTunes actually, Music and Take the Q-Train, both classics in my book. Back on the Beats is solid, The Real Me is a great album, and he also released an album of just instrumentals, The Lost Me (primarily beats that weren't used before, some ended up on new albums like Hwana's newest).

He also wrote a handful of tracks for the Soul Company compilation albums, both of which I HIGHLY recommend to get your foot in the door for Korean Hip-Hop... also look up the "One Penny" Remix by Dynamic Duo, 31 MC's, 32 beats each, good place to get started.

Previewing the new Dynamic Duo and Leessang albums right now.
Only on track 2 of the new DD album, but GODDAMN. So happy. I heard the horns and knew immediately that they're back. Funky beats with solid rhymes. Looking forward to hearing the rest of it. <33

EDIT: Mkay, only on track 5, but so far a killer album. Totally into it. Even the "modern" track (track 03) has that funk-influenced bass beat, and is catchy as hell. Great album so far. Kinda reminds me of the first album.
To be honest, I almost started to (reluctantly) count out Double D along with all those other lame-ass "hip-hop" duos (cough Mighty Mouth cough), but this is a total return to form (and then some).

EDIT2: Mkay, track 6 [왜 벌써 가 (Be My Brownie)] wrecked my face, in and out. My new jam. Good sh--.

EDIT3: Awesome album from DD. If you've ever been a fan of DD, you'll love it. It's the perfect marriage between their traditional funk-influenced beats and their more modern work. I was very pleasantly surprised by this album, thinking that it would stray even further from their roots, but man. Definitely worth my money.

Haven't started Leessang's yet, but will get to it tomorrow!
Grip me with your eyes.

EXCELLENT news about the new Dynamic Duo album... I was worried they weren't going to keep up that funky feel, glad they're pushing to keep it going. Now I'll be buying the album too =D

For SC, I would change a little. I would put Hwana second and Minos third (; My personal taste at least.

You DO have the draw the line for hip hop somewhere though. I think artists like Epik High, Dok2, L.E.O are great, but it's not too awesome when someone as far from hip hop as Big Bang claims to be hip hop, or imitates it to get famous.
No love no hatred for them.

i DO draw the line. but that's MY line. i am not south korea's official hip hop line drawer lol. and neither is anyone else in this thread.

i said i thought big bang wasn't hip hop. but i'm not gonna have a meltdown if someone says they're hip hop.

if i can have an opinion, so can they.

This is true, but opinions have to be informed. To think 85 songs with the catch line "sarang hae" with pop music can be considered hip hop is a fallacy; it's not what hip hop was ever intended to stand for. I don't think it's necessarily bad stuff, not what I like. But it is most certainly pop, and if you want to really narrow it down, hip-pop.

You wonder why there's discontent between underground artists and mainstream artists? Because groups from the big YG Family all claim to be hip hop, when they mis-represent a genre and push down the underground... it's a personal thing, but at least in my opinion, it's an easy line to draw =/
