Ever since I started to actually workout, I found that my period seemed to only last for two days.
My workout plan?
I get up at 8:30. I jog for two hours. I go at a moderate or slow pace. But I figured since I'm going for two hours, it'll make up for it.
I get back home at 10 or so.
I do my 'muscular endurance'. This meaning pushups, sit ups. I use an exercise ball every other day. There's various workouts involving those, its just a matter of finding them.
*sit ups..35 a set. Two sets.
*pushups..I can't do a pushup to save my life, so I try to do 10 at least =)
After that I move on to weights. I use 3 pounds and one set is about 35.
That normally last for 30 minutes.
My backup plan when I don't get a chance to run?
I just start on my pushup and sit ups and weights. At least then I feel good about myself for doing something.
The reason I don't eat before I run, is because when you eat, the glycogen that you get from the food gets burned first, before your stored fat. At least this way if you don't eat, your body will use your stored fat or carbs first.
Of course with a workout plan comes a proper diet.
Usually I have a bowl of cereal with skim milk.
Lunch, normally anything I'm craving for. Rice and one egg, instant noodles. Key here is portion. I allow myself to eat anything as long as its in small portion.
Dinner, since I work at night, I don't have much chance to eat dinner at a proper time. So when I get home its normally whatever my parents had. Again, small portions.
Snack, a fruit.
(A trick I usually use to make sure that I'm eating small portions, as dumb as this may sound, is I eat from a bowl. Your eyes tend to play a trick on you. If you use a big plate, then you tend to fill it up even more, and you'll end up with too many portions. With using something small, you fill it up right away with just the right amount. And if your parents ask you why your eating from a bowl, say its easier to clean =P)
I completely stay away from pop or any sugary treats. I'm not one to count calories or worry how many grams of fat there are in a certain food. Here's the thing, even if the label says 'low fat', watch out for that sugar content. If its not the fat that gets you, it'll be the sugar. Sugar is just as bad as fat. I'm not saying stay away from it all, just 'treat' yourself with it. That's what it is ..a "treat".
For one day of the month, give yourself a treat. This doesn't mean one day pig out. It means eat a dessert of your own choice. Don't worry about how much fat or sugar it has or the toll its going to have on your 'thighs'. Just one day of the month. At least then you satisfy your craving.
Replace your pop with water or orange juice. You have to watch for the names that they have for drinks. Try to avoid anything that says 'cocktail' thats not real juice, its loaded with sugar.
Again, eat whatever it is you want, just make sure its in small portions.
