Just to let you know.
Yeah but I rather binge on fruits and veggies than on bread, rice and pasta. At least those are more healthy carbs. Unless you are following the atkins/south beach plan which I think is silly. As long as you do carbs in moderation then there's no reason not to have carbs in a healthy diet. You can also find other ways to consume carbs like whole wheat bread, brown rice and etc. As long it's in moderation. You will still gain weight if you have whole wheat bread/pasta or brown rice often. I would only have like 1 of those things. For me, carbs are major factor and I learned to cut down alot especially the breads. I love eating any type of breads. Now, I just have it once/twice a week.

Yes, if your calories intake is below 1200, health sites recommend nuts. It's good for your heart, during/after your period (iron), and it contains good fat.
Women need an average of 2200 cals a day (depends on your weight). If you eat below 1200 your body automatically turns into starvation mode, you'll store fat and burn less calories!
To lose weight, it is recommended that you take out 500 cals from your ideal calories intake. you need to burn 3500 cals in order to lose a pound. so 500x7 (a week) = 3500. losing 1 lbs a week is the ideal & healthy way. (if you're overweight, it'll be easier to lose the first 10 pounds or so)
Next, determine whether you have a small, medium or large frame. Using a measuring tape, measure your wrist. If your wrist measures exactly 6 inches, you have a medium frame and the weight number you calculated above, does not need to be adjusted. If your wrist measures less than 6 inches, subtract 10 percent from your ideal weight. If your wrist measures more than 6 inches, add 10 percent to your ideal weight.
How many calories you need in a day.
If you are totally inactive and usually get no exercise, multiply your adjusted ideal weight by 11. If you get regular exercise two or three times a week, multiply your adjusted ideal weight by 13. If you get regular exercise four to five times a week, multiple your adjusted ideal weight by 15. And finally, if you get regular exercise six to seven times a week, multiply your adjusted ideal weight by 18.
Now that you know your ideal weight and how many calories you need each day you can easily figure out how much fat you can eat. Most nutritionists recommend that you limit daily intake of fat to 30 percent of your total calories. However, if you want to lose weight or have a history of heart disease or cancer, limit your daily fat intake to 20 percent of your total calories.
Let's take a look at a real life example. If Jane is a 5 foot 4 inch woman with a medium frame her ideal weight is 120 pounds. Jane is trying to lose weight so she needs to keep her fat calories down to about 20 percent.
Jane is exercising two to three times a week so we can multiply her ideal weight by the number that matches her activity level, which is 13. Now we know that Jane needs 1,560 calories each day.
If we take 20 percent of 1,560 (1,560 multiplied by .20) we get 312. Next, translate fat calories into fat grams (this will make it easier for you to read food labels). One gram of fat equals 9 calories. So if we divide 312 by 9 we know that Jane can eat about 35 grams of fat per day.
I don't know how effective the article above is for Asians because I'm 5'9 and work out 7 days a week (I burn around 900 to 1400 cals a day!). My ideal weight is 154 but I'm a lot lighter than that and am still trying to lose some flab! I'm supposed to consume 2772 calories a day! But anyways, I personally find it easier to just burn 500 cals a day!

Whenever I'm dieting hardcore for a speical event or after the holidays (I know you guys are nodding your heads on this one). I keep my meal intake strictly veggie and water.
I'd have a cup of green tea in the morning, have a cup of boiled broccoli
for lunch i'd eat a healthy portion of cucumbers, spinach and tomato
I usually skip out on dinner and have more tea.
do that for a week and you drop at least 10.
If I'm just trying to rid of 3-5 lbs. I'd have egg whites and soy milk for breakfast; half a turkey breast sandwich minus the mayo and mustard for lunch; bowl of soup or a fruit salad for dinner.

Maybe you didn't read the original post.
She said she would eat little carbs, but said she would eat more fruits and veggies
A apple it self has 30 grams of carbs.
Those are obviously contradictory.
Thanks keri.

I'm curious what to eat instead of those since it's carbs and all.

But I have a question. How many carbs (minimum) do you have to eat in a day? (if this have been written, then I'm sorry to ask again, but I'm too lazy to read through all 101 pages...
Please answer.

Diet Soda
I don't drink much of it, but now that I'm on a diet, its nice to have something different to drink aside water (even though water is the best alternative). I brought some Coke Zero, it's your typical diet soda.
Does anybody know if this stuff stunts weight loss or can affect your weight loss process?
Thanks

height: 5"3'
weight: 120..= _=;
since i'm going to korea this summer imma cut down on food just a little bit cuz i'm a big eater. rawr(:<
i mean..people say i'm skinny..but i dont consider myself to be skinny or fat..
but it wouldn't hurt to lost couple extra pounds you know?? haha
i went to a gym last night with my cousin...man was it good(:
when i start working and get enough money, imma get a membership and work out....
working out at a gym is better than working out alone at home for some reason..haha
i usually eat cereal for breakfast cuz i heard milk is good for kick-starting your metabolism
the problem is i eat a lot for dinner- _-;; any way i can eat less at dinner?
i know i have to do something..but it's so hard!!

If I were you, I'd still eat a lot for dinner. But I'd cut down on rice. Instead, I'll drink a lot of soup (yummay) so that I won't be THAT hungry and I'd eat lotsa veggies. It helps that MY favorite veggie, bok choy/siu pak choy (chinese cabbage) has 20 calories a cup and is the top 20 healthiest food? Haha, I just found out. Yeah, I'll try to eat loads of veggies. Cucumbers are low in calories as well.
Eat only lean meat. Skinless, Boneless, Chicken Breast & Turkey cutlets are the leanest meat!

7AM - 1 banana, coffee/milk
11AM - medium salad (w/ dressing), water, bag of crackers or something
3PM - snack like a handful of nuts, oatmeal, occasionally ramen (i know i know, 300 calories and it's bad for you... but i have to run right afterwards to dance and i need something filling!), raisins... trail mix, etc & apple cider/juice
6PM - dinner... i have a traditional chinese dinner with various chinese dishes, i eat quite alot... not sure how many calories this is, but i'm guessing its around 300-500? dinner is the absolute meal i can't lessen because i eat with my family and they'll be like WHAT you only eating that much?!? -___-
yep

hmm, did you estimate your calories intake? 1000 calories AFTER you subtracted the calories you burned? or just 1000 calories from the food? just in case, calorieking.com is probably the best site ever!
looking at your food intake, it should be alright. it looks like there's more than 1000 calories. a cup of peanuts has 800+ cals (more if it's cashew nuts), salad WITH dressing contains a lot of calories as well (around 650 per serving), banana & 200ml of lowfatmilk each contains 100 cals. and yeah i know what you mean by average chinese dinner. but i love chinese dinners because it's healthier (think about all the steamed stuff and TOFU! & clear soup!) and doesn't contain a lot of calories. just eat more veggies and stick to lean meat.
i suggest you eat cereal with a banana in the morning! like we all know, it contains fiber and helps with your metabolism. did you know that if you eat fiber for breakfast, you'll crave less throughout the day? hehe, one day i ate fried rice for breakfast and i was literally stuffing myself throughout the day! and i haven't had any cereal for breakfast for the past 4 days (because it ran out and i was too lazy to refill) and for the past 4 days i've been binge-eating (sorta) but then it's probably because of my period as well (eesh)
well, you're snacking on good stuff! i personally think the amount of calories a person need in a day is depends a lot on different factors.
also, try to snack on fruits more! i myself eat a serving of bananas, oranges, prunes, & apples a day

oh and i heard this thing on the news about how if you just "think" that the little movements you make is a workout, your body would treat it as a workout or something like that and actually burn more fat. it's like some type of psychological thing that has to do with positive thinking. i dunno, anyone know more on this subject?
