really? i thought it had to do with breathing right. i'll keep at it then.
i think it's getting better though because before, it was exactly like you said; i'd get a stitch after a quarter of a lap and now i can go a whole lap until i get a mild one.

I'm pretty sure on this one, cause I asked my doctor cause I was so out of shape, that I can't run short distance w/o hurting that i thought something was wrong with me, lol. That's what he said, and that's what my father said too.

Uhm, that just means you're out of shape. You have to keep going at it days after days to lose it. At first, starting out, I run a quarter of a lap, and I have stitch, hurts like crazy. Now I can go the whole lap until I have stitch.

It can be either fitness, breathing, or both. If you're like most people, you exhale when you land on your right foot. This puts downward pressure on your liver (on your right side) which then pulls on your diaphram and giving you stitches. Solution? Exhale as you land on your left foot. smile.gif

the 100-200 calories burned were from the mile i ran outside. the 50 calories added into that are from the lightweight strength training i did. i roughly estimate these because there is no way i can accurately know the number of calories i burned.
285 fat calories, however, is correct from the 1 3/4 mile cardio run i did, because my treadmill records it.
because fat calories aren't the same as regular calories, i can't add them together, and so i just list them both. lol.

in my case it's probably both.
thanks for that, i'll try it tomorrow. i could run a lot longer if i didn't get the stitches so i really want to stop getting them. ;__;

spinning/cycling/stationary bicycling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_(cycling)
spinning is a lot of fun smile.gif it's also very easy on your joints (whereas in running if you don't have the right shoes, you hurt your joints, get shin splints, etc.)
and don't go running in khakis sad.gif you need something you can move in.. if you don't have any sweatpants or something, go in pajama pants

ah i see! i've been on those before in school when the fitness room was open to everyone.. =.= hmm maybe i should consider getting one of those instead of a treadmill.. xD

oh thanks for the tips. thank god i haven't went running yet. i had a day off yestaurday.. but hmm i guess i'll go in pajamas...

---

3/3/07 (yestaurday)
breakfast: nothing, had to rush to school
lunch: half a toasted raisin bagel with jelly
dinner: went out for japanese tonight; sushi, udon, and sashimi overload. =X
snacks: a few pieces of soy crisps. haha.
liquids: water and apple juice

exercise: none. but i went shopping so i did A LOT of walking. from 47th st. to 23rd st. woo =) (it was kinda my day off)

calories burned: not much
calories gained: i don't even wanna know.

but hey, i went to models and bought two 1lb weights that i could use when i go running. hopefully it can work out my arms a little. i'm not too sure what the purpose of that is, but i think it's for your arms, right? =X

does anyone know how long it will take to burn off fat in my tummy area if i exercise 20-30 minutes a day?
i try to jog on my elliptical i have at home because i recently gained a lot of fat in my tummy area T_T

depends on how much you eat...and how hard youre working on the elliptical. i also go on it...i love it. assuming that you eat...pretty healthy. then if youre going to go on the elliptical for 20-30 minutes u should be working really hard that 20-30 minutes...to the point where youre sweating a lot. if not then its gonna take a while for u to see improvement

I need to lose weight because I know I've gained. My mom even says my face is fatter, gahhh! I think my family's going to Taiwan or HK in summer break and I'd be considered obese over there!

I think everyone should create a account at sparkpeople to track exercise and food. It's really helpful but you have to be 18 or over.

Lol, you know, I was thinking of waking up that early to go jogging too for next week, cos if I jog at 7.30am, I dunno, people will definitely be up by then and it's embarrassing jogging on your own street ph34r.gif

Wieee~~ I just searched on the internet, and jogging for 5 minutes is half a mile...so if I jog for 30 minutes, that's 3 miles... biggrin.gif

lol i hate how at 6am its still really dark and so its like you cant be bothered, but if you don't go early, then people start waking up.

=_= i can't jog for 5mins, i jog for 1min then i get tired haha. oh gosh.

for the leg toning thing, do you have to run/jog for 3miles straight for it to work or can you do lil bits so that it equals to the 30mins?

Hey, I was wondering, what's an average of calories if I'm like 5ft and 90lbs, per day? I don't want to consume too much or too little

Question here!
Are calories from fat different from the regular calories, or are they part of the regular calories?
Does my question make sense? x]

EDIT:
Here's an example...

per serving:
calories: 300
calories from fat: 50

Does this have 300 calories or 350?

Juli~<3 - You consume way too much food when it's dinner time; why wont you
try eatting more breakfast than dinner? See, that's the problem with people like they
don't eat breakfast but in fact breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Not only because it starts ur metabolism but look at it this way, eat a big breakfast and then
during the day your digestive system will just burn it off, where as eating a lot at dinner where
your metabolism tends to slow down.

blue_shoe- hmm...If someone is 5 ft. and 90 lbs and what age?
Oh well I did this calorie calc. at fitnessmagazine.com and it told
me someone with that height and weight, age 18 should consume 1700
cal. to maintain their weight.

Btw, I have a question, I ate DIM SUM today for lunch
Is it fattening?

I have about 14 weeks before school ends and summer begins. I'd like to lose around 5-10 pounds and tone my body. Possible?

I run a [timed] mile every Friday for PE class, and I have the option of running a mile every Wednesday as well to raise my grade. I just want to get in shape, so I plan on running the wed. mile also until school ends.

I don't have much time after school for working out (school ends at 3:10 on mon. tues. thurs., 2:15 on wed. fri., and i have tutoring mon. wed. fri. from 4:00-6:30)

But since I have relatively easy classes on wed. & fri., I was thinking of jump-roping on tues. & thurs. for...I'm not sure how much time yet. I'm planning on working my way up to 30 minutes as time goes on. I don't have exercise machines, and running around my neighborhood is...not the best idea. Jump-roping seems to be my best choice for a good cardio work-out.

So with that plus an attempt to eat healthy, do you think this would work in helping me get my body in shape? ^^;;

Is it okay to burn more calories than you gain? Well, is that how you lose weight?

At 23, lol. I'm old. Thanks. I have no idea if Dim Sum is fattening. I doubted. They barely have anything.

I was confused..hahaa..

no problem. smile.gif i didn't know for awhile either until i noticed a salad dressing from mcdonald's had like 190 calories, 170 from fat. i thought that meant an additional 170 fat cals. on top of 190 regular ones but my mom cleared it up for me. XD

DAY TWENTY-ONE
breakfast: 1 cup frosted mini wheats w/ 3/4 cup fat-free milk, 2 slices wheat lowfat toast, handful of honey nut cheerios
lunch: nothing.. (i woke up at noon, ok? XD)
dinner: 4 small slices lowfat wheat pizza, 4 strawberries
snack: none
liquids: milk, water, diet cherry coke ♥

exercise:
30 minute 1 3/4 mile cardio run, bit of lightweight strength training
total calories burned ... approx. 30-40 regular calories, 310 fat calories

what a gooooood day!! smile.gif i noticed my face is looking not as fat. HAHAH. also, my hips and bum are getting smaller. i'm not as "wide". lmao. but yeah. biggrin.gif I IS SHRINKING.

ps. when i was running, i practiced exhaling on my left foot. it allowed me to run longer. i started to feel a faint stitch on my side coming on, so i slowed down a little and kept exhaling on my left foot. the stitch went away. smile.gif
