You see I wasn't very hungry yesterday. -0- It's not like I didn't eat on purpose, I just wasn't in the mood. That's why I didn't eat that much. But usually I eat a lot. And I just started my period, so my stomach hurts a lot too. -0- And my parents aren't helping either. I'm trying to lose weight by eating less and excercising more, but my parents thing I'm going anorexic or something. They keep comparing me to linsay lohan and crap. -0- Sigh. But yeah, maybe I should give up the carbs thing. I mean, the only thing our family eats is rice o_o; its going to be hard for me to do that.
I heard eating small 6 meals a day helps boost your metabolism. And I jog every morning to help keep my metabolism running all day. But the thing is... I know it's wrong to not eat at all to lose weight. But whenever I eat something, my brain tells me that it's going to make me fat and I stop eating. Maybe that's the problem. -0- I dont know, but these days, even though I'm hungry, I don't eat. I hope I'm not going crazy or anythng. My mom and my sister are like really skinny. No matter how much they eat, they stay skinny. But I'm really chubby compared to them. Maybe that's why I feel so fat at home. I dont know, but I'm aware of the calorie/metabolism thing. I read all about it on the internet. I had to reasearch a lot of stuff before I decided to go on a diet. But I feel like I'm crash dieting, cause I lost 1 lb yesterday for just eating junk food. Sigh, I dont know......
Hi catchthesky,
Here's how one can understand why eating 6 small meals a day helps with weight loss. Although we are out of times where starvation was a threat to humans, our bodies do not know it. Anything that cannot be burned will be stored to fat which can be broken down later and used as energy. Let's just say you eat three 600 calorie meals a day(totaling 1800 calories). The amount that you can burn between these meals is nowhere near 600, so any calories that you cannot burn will be stored as fat. If you eat six small meals at 300 calories each(similarly totaling 1800 calories), your body can easily off most of the calories that eat from the last meal resulting in less fat stored in your body. Also, the continuous intake of calories will give your metabolism the energy it needs to keep at it's "optimal" level.
As for jogging in the morning to keep your metabolism going throughout the day, I've never heard of this idea. Vigorous running may help boost your metabolism for up to 48 hours no matter what time of the day you run. But keep in mind that this post-workout calorie burn may only add up to 50-100 calories a day.
Yes, rice is an enemy to the calorie-counting fiend. But I don't think you should follow the Atkins Diet by cutting carbs. Here are two reasons why: It is very unhealthy to cut out a piece of the nutrition table. And if you're Asian, you love rice and you will never be able to give it up in the long run. I'd say next time you opt for half a bowl of rice, instead of the full shabang. Remember, carbs is a runner's best friend.
Although the physical part of dieting and exercise is not simple, the idea behind it is. Burn more than you eat, and you will be on your way to a slimmer you.
