You can do it ^^~
34lbs does sound a lot, I'm still on my diet for after a month now, so far I've lost 7lbs and there wasn't much exercise included, apart from walking... if you count that as exercise =)
My aim is to lose about 25-30lbs

So far, I've just been cutting down on meals, and cutting OUT on junk food.
I think maybe you should try that first?

I didn't think I could do it after many failed diets~ But so far, this one got me addicted to healthy foods... and I work at a chinese takeaway x_x So basically, junk food is in my face everyday but now when I see it, it doesn't tempt me... I've kinda been put off junk for some reason x_x

But yeah!~ Give it a good couple of months, I'm sure you'll reach your goal weight.
And plus, it's exciting to see results after doing well in the week =D!

Good luck ^^~

thanks, this really motivated me, after i ate something bad today @_@..

ill update this later.. one month and a week before school.. hoping to lose 10 pounds.. bleh.. i've been on so many diets... gave up many times!!! i hope i keep this one going!! i feel like i gained all that i lost (5 pounds)

Food-Dinner, rice and chicken/meat.

Today, I'm going to try and exercise a bit more and considering I'm going out, I'll run a bit around before I get home depending on the time.

I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them after working out. So today I finally decided to do some cardio. Five minutes of jumping jack, with ocassional breaks, i decided to give up. Usually when doing my cardio like jogging or skipping, I can last for a good 30 minutes. However i haven't been exercising for quite a while so i thought 5 minutes was enough.

The scary part was when i went downstairs to the kitchen to get a bottle of cold water. I started to feel faint. I felt like vomiting and a had cold sweat (basically, it's when you're sweating alot but you feel really cold.) And, my vision started to blur. It's like when you get up to fast, all of a sudden you see black but colour comes back a few seconds later.

So. i guess what i'm asking is if this has happened to any of you guys? If so, do you know what caused this to happen? Should I try to do some cardio again tomorrow?

By the way, i didn't eat anything before this workout. I woke up and did some stretching and did my cardio right after. Maybe this could be caused of my lack of sleep i had last night. Normally i would sleep around 3AM and wake up around 2PM. However last night, i couldn't fall asleep until 8AM and woke up at 5PM.

ME?

+Went from a waist 6-7 to 2-3.
+130lbs to 112-115lbs
in about 1 month and some days

Ok I didn't read through ALL these posts lol. But I'm just gunna post up some stuff that helped me this summer. If you're like me, I tried many times to lose weight. Stopped eating, ate, got fatter. I can lost weight in an instant but gain it all back in an instant. My weight is constantly changing.

I recently moved and the place I live now is horrible. My body is not used to the high temperature and humidity. So eating heavy foods, just made me feel so horrible and sluggish. I started getting rashes, ect. Basically I had to get my mind set on eating healthy. It wasn't about losing weight but thinking about healthy foods and eating food that is easy for a stomach to digest. Easy to digest foods is a good way for your stomach to empty out all that junk thats been piling up in your stomach. and also you can eat more ^^ (healthy food that is).

I started out doing a master lemon cleanse. This is basically a fasting diet. But its not about not eating. It's about undoing all the damage you've done to your stomach when you were eating heavy, junk foods, and more. When I did this cleanse, I also had to think about cleansing my body, NOT losing weight. The day before I started I had only ate salad and fruits. Next, I went about 12 days without eating anything but drinking the lemon recipe. (Raw lemon juice, Canyanne pepper, maple syrup gradeB) After not eating for almost 2 weeks, I slowly eased back into food. By beginning with drinking 100% orange juice all day. Then soup, salad. After I finished all this, my body felt light and I was able to digest food without feeling groggy or painfully full. I had lost 10lbs from that. But it's mostly water weight anyway.

After I did the cleanse, I wanted to focus on now losing weight. I dislike having muscles (muscular tone) so I don't think about working out or getting muscle in me to lose fat. Thats just me. Also lets face it, I'm not the type of person to excerise regularly. I move around enough, go to school, walking anywhere I can. I like to walk and stretch after I eat.

Since I cleansed my body for 2 weeks of junk food and waste that piled up inside, I started out with low calorie foods. Basically what worked for me was just cutting out all junk food. I started making salads everyday. Homemade sandwiches. I didn't buy any premade food from the store. I ate a lot of fruits that are highly acidic to help digest foods. I don't go out to eat. I don't eat fast food. I don't eat t.v. dinners. (except for some Lean Cuisine) I don't eat any candy or foods that contain high sugar at all. Yes, there's days where I crave candy so bad.. like gummy frogs or apple rings. But I try to keep my mind off of that.. If I cant, I just make some coffee with milk or eat maple oatmeal that has a little sweet flavor. Once you get in your mind that you can EAT HEALTHY, you can start losing weight without thinking all day about losing weight. It won't work if you just think about losing weight. Because after you lose weight, who's to say you wont go back to your weight before because you can't change your eating habits.. or you start eating a lot. It's just basically controlling yourself, controlling your mind. There's a lot of times where I just want to eat rice, noodles, steak, burgers, everything I can think of. But I don't. Because I had to train myself to not go for those things and go for healthy things. Then I start thinking about my body being healthier and me being able to move around.. And everything feels better after that.

Also, what you used to read.. about eating breakfast makes you lose weight. I found that for me personally, It's true. Do NOT eat a heavy meal at night before you go to sleep. Before you go to sleep, make sure you leave 1-2 hours of eating nothing. It's like.. eating a bag of potato chips then sitting down and watching tv. It's all going into your body and building there. Sometimes I go to sleep with my stomach growling but I have to deal with it. Cause I know I'm going to be falling alseep in a few minutes so why would I want to eat and then sleep with that food still trying to digest. So going back into eating breakfast... Most of the time, Since I fixed my diet, I wake up, get some school stuff together and then I'll have to go to the bathroom to do a #2. That's a good sign because it shows that my body digested everything I ate yesturday and it's ready to come out. I eat breakfast every morning. I used to skip it even when I read countless times that when you sleep your body goes into starvation mode and then when you wake up and you don't eat.. by the time you finally eat, all your eating goes straight into fat to store. And now I know that that's true. So even if I'm not hungry I try to eat every morning. I like to eat Oatmeal because its low in calories, easy to make before school and fulls me up because of the wheat and grains.

Mostly the things I eat now are,

-Banana's (3-4 a day) Slow digestion but good
-Maple oatmeal (the small instant package kinds) 100 cal.
-Gritz (the small instant package kinds) 100 cal.
-Homemade Salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, cheese, premade cut grilled chicken (the ones they sell with the sandwich meats), jalapenos, cayenne pepper)
-Homemade Sandwich (1-2 slices of meat, 1-2 slices of swiss cheese, dejon musturd, 100% wheat bread)
& Small Dill Pickles

I started keeping a food journal. It helps my mind think about eating healthy foods.
Even if the foods are repetitive, I write everything down.

Look up some of the things that aid in digestion. I love to put cayenne pepper in whenever I can.
Red pepper/spicy ingredients aid in digestion.

I started trying to eat organic foods and drink.
Problem is, organic produces costs more than regular foods. that sucks doesn't it?

Right now I'm just trying to figure out which other foods I can eat, that I can easily make and buy. I really hate it how health food magazines or websites have recipes, but the recipes include soooo many ingredients you need or ingredients that are not in a "regular" person's home. Also I'm on a very tight budget as I don't work right now and i'm relying on my parents $$ who live in another state. So buying new foods, ingredients, appliances is not gunna cut it. Also, I am not a regular cooker.. So having to make everything by scratch, boil, chop, steam, ect.. just annoys the heck out of me. So that's what I'm doing right now.. trying to find good food, low calories, easy to make, cheap, fast fast fast. Or at least good snacks. I can deal with eating snacks all day then eating full meals. Since I love eating wink.gif Snacking is more fun.

Now I feel healthy, I'm skinnier, My moods are better. When I think of junk foods like chips or soda I get grossed out. One morning at school I was deathly tired from staying up and hungry from running late and not eating. I grabbed a Sprite cause I knew water wouldn't keep my stomach from growling and wouldn't keep me awake. The soda tasted nasty. Just months before I drank sprite almost everyday. I loved soda.. but now it has a weird flavor and not good at all. I got excitied that I didn't like the soda anymore. Helps.

And that's it.
To whoever read this.. lol, if you have any questions or anything just let me know.
Pm me or whatever you want.

FISHSELLS: how inspiring! I always wanted to try the so called "master cleanse". I've been reading a lot about it on soompi and through other websites. Supposedly it's a very fast way to lose massive amount of weight in record time. I'd love to rid my body of toxins and lose weight while I'm at it. I know it's successful because of all the testimonials other people have given and the amazing results they have obtained. The only thing I have problem with is the fasting. I know I wouldn't be able to last because I seriously cannot stay away from food. I think I'd collapse if all I ate/drink was lemon juice and tea..laugh.gif I commend everyone who has the willpower to try it and persevere through the process because I know I'd be too weak. >_<

Bellie: I understand your parents concerns, so run during the day and trust me, you DON'T have to run 6 miles daily to lose weight. One mile is fine when just starting out but surprise your body occasionally by doing more and that will add variety to your routine and keep your body guessing. This way, you will also lose weight faster.

Wow, you sound so...professional. biggrin.gif Thanks for giving me all this advice! I'll try to put it to good use. Btw, how long did it take you to be able to run 6 miles a day without dropping dead? laugh.gif

Oh, also, I've wanted to try the Master Cleanse, too, but I am also afraid of fainting or not being able to follow this liquids-only diet. BUT IT SEEMS SO COOL AND EFFECTIVE. xD

I wonder how Turbo Jam works. :]

Can you resist the temptation?

QUOTE(CookieBreak @ Jul 27 2007, 11:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have been exercising and eating right for the past 3 weeks. I do one hour of elliptical every night (trust me, i do sweat like a pig during and afterwards) and i dont even remember the last time i had junk food. I count the calories that i eat too. But the thing is i am not losing anything =_= I am kinda overweight so i should be losing more weight n faster than any1 else right? well at least for the first few pounds...

this is so sad =_= Ive read alot of articles online about why people r not losing weight even when they exercice/eat right... but they didnt help. Does any1 know WHY i am not losing anything? I am not asking for a miracle but geez... 3 weeks and not a single pound off, sadness =_=

CookieBreak: first, I'd like to commend you on sticking to a plan of action for nearly a month! YAY! Go YOU! Not many people have the determination to do what you did. Working out for an hour everyday AND eating healthy should be sufficient when trying to lose weight; but it sounds like you've reached a dilemma. I think you need more variety in your workout. Your body is expecting you to go on the elliptical everyday for an hour because you've been doing it for the past 3 weeks. You have to keep your body perpetually guessing what you'll do to challenge it next. So add some weight training, aerobics, or resistance training. Whether it be running, swimming, biking, anything! do it and switch it up with your elliptical workout. Do alternating days with varying intensities and see if you're getting any results.

bohemian.affair: thanks so much for the website, I found out something new today. Interesting how I'm considered small boned on an American site and medium boned on that Chinese site mellow.gif

Bellie: When I say I run 6 miles a day, it is usually broken up into two 3 mile runs. Sometimes I'll punish myself or depending how hard I want to work, I'll run continuously for 6 or more miles. I don't know if anyone shares the same sentiments as me, but there's a sensation after you run awhile where you don't really feel anything anymore. At first, you're really tired and breathing heavily but then it all goes away and I feel like I could run forever! Anyone know what I'm saying? err maybe I'm rambling >_<

Starting out, I was pretty out of shape so I began running only 1 mile a day and that left me pretty exhausted haha.. sweatingbullets.gif I live in a neighborhood with various subdivisions so I would challenge myself by going farther and farther into my neighborhood. Maybe one day I'll decide to run past this subdivision and stop and then run back home. I did this for about 2 weeks until I ran the entire length of my neighborhood and back (6-7 miles).

I also find that my body works better at night due to the cooler temperatures. I can run more when my body is comfortable.

laugh.gif haha I try hard to sound like I know what I'm talking about. I've found myself reading a lot of health related books and I've also subscribed to Shape magazine for over a year. Additionally, I'm a pre-med student. What I usually write on this forum is what I've acquired from my reading materials. I hope I'm helping not only you but also other people with the same concerns smile.gif

I know what you mean! In school, when we have to run the required miles, I feel like I'm going to die after running it, and then once you regain your normal breathing rate, I feel so good, and as light as air, like I can't feel my legs or something. It does feel REALLY good. biggrin.gif

My sister ran around our block before, and I was bicycling around with her, and she ran it in under 9 minutes! I don't know how long our block is, but it's pretty long. I want to try and do that, but have someone accompany me. Like a running buddy! laugh.gif

Well, naturally, I find it better to run when it's cold because then the sun isn't beating down on you as hard and it isn't as hot so you don't feel dehydrated ans sweaty.

Maybe I should be like you and read health magazines. What gets me is motivation. I never stay on things. I'm a procrastinator by nature, I can't help myself. Again, thanks for the advice! smile.gif
