Depends.

Standford usually looks for something you're really good at. Let's say math for example. If you enter competitions and such, they like you. They look for one specific thing you're really great at, but at the same time, you still have to be terrific at everything else.

Hope that helped, and good luck!
Ooh, life is good. ♥ :)

i've just heard from my friends at stanford, but it's a major party school!

and they told me that there are so much rich snobby kids there, and they park their bmws and benzs in all the good parking spaces.

but by God, it's a beautiful campus.

i was there for a summer, and i didn't want to leave.

be sure to check out the rodin sculptures!

^No, you don't. They have a new policy and my brother got in. Our income isn't what's considered to be rich family...but now, he only has to pay 1700 out of his own pocket.

right, it actually made national news. stanford put into a place a new policy that makes it so that applying students from low income families that are accepted are taken care of financially by the school itself, without the need for loans or other outside scholarships. very respectable, i'd say.

The usuals that many applicants have are: a high GPA & very good SAT/ACT/SAT 2/AP scores. Definitely spend alot of time on your essays; write about something you are truly passionate about and let them know through your writing. Have alot of extracurriculars that deal with your passions; excel at these extracurriculars, don't just have a laundry list of pointless ones.

One of my friends got into Stanford this year and she is an astounding writer (w/ECs such as editor of the school newspaper, contributer to the local newspaper etc). She's also....very unique haha I guess we can say with a rather mysterious touch to her. Definitely not the typical girl that's all I can say, and it probably showed in her essays! =)

And this year Stanford made a new policy that tremendously helps those students from low income families..I think those families with a yearly income of $60,000 or below? Not positive about the numbers.

GLUCK though! biggrin.gif
