Alright so most of you know I blew up my engine from mechanical overrevv and decided to fix this thing myself. I think only the head is bad.
I started Wednesday morning thinking I should have this head off my lunchtime however this was not the case. I did a compression test before starting and got zero from cylinder 1 and 30 from cylinder 2. Every other one was fine so I'm like ok. I start taking the valve cover off and I got that off after like 2 hours. Then I get the camshafts off. Then I get to this auto tensioner thingy and it says I need a bolt to hold it in place. Takes me like 4 hours to find a bolt that matches the specifications and I'm like ok I'm finished for today and I go prepare for the lindwood gathering.
(Things I learned from day one, I hate the heatshield that wraps around the header and the other one that wraps around the battery. The last bolt is a pain to get to. Auto tensioners suck too)
Its thursday and I have work at 4. I get started at like 10. So I get back out there and I'm taking everything off which is a PITA especially getting to the bolts on the underside of the intake manifold. Also taking off the pressure regulator I got squirted in the face. Dropped some of my tools into the coolant container I had under the car because I had to release all the coolant. Took the rocker arms off and everything. I finally get to the taking off of the head and realize I don't have the thing for the head bolts. I drive over to Acura DCH and borrow one and drive back to my house. Pop the head off and look at the pistons. It seems that piston 1 and 4 where hitting the valves 4 more so than 1 so why does cylinder #4 have good compression while 2 is SOL?
Also I talked to the guys at the Acura DCH and they have a new RSX-S in there for the same problem. The mechanic said the guy money shifted and they replaced the head and 3 weeks later the pistons crapped out because they were damaged and no symptoms showed until 3 weeks later.
Anyway I brought my head to a friend to get it checked out. He said if the valves are damaged thats good because at least you know what happened, but if the valves are not damaged and everything looks good on the head........
Now that I'm looking at all the parts I took off including the belt tensioner and all those plugs I unplugged I don't even want to think about how I'm going to put this puzzle back together.
Pictures tomorrow!!
