good luck!!
...unless you're willing to live in literally a dump there is no way you will find that cheap a deal... atleast not in manhattan.
i live in 1 br and we both each have to pay atleast $1300 that is not including electricity.. .which is another $100.
maybe you could consider brooklyn, queens, or jersey...?
you should definitely find sublet.
housing in ny is stressful. i went through it all!
good luck.

prospect park sounds cool, it's by the brooklyn museum?? sounds like a good area but i might be wrong because chibifry laughed after saying prospect park.. eh??
the reason i say 1000 for a studio is because someone told me that they used to live in a studio in the upper east side for 1000 dollars... and told me to look there ><

prospect park is probably cheap (I'm assuming) because the neighborhood kind of sucks. Or Flatbush = DEFINATELY cheaper area. Well thats because there is lots of crime there. but hey, its cheap.

its a crappy neighborhood so dont think that being near the park is that good.
stick with bensonhurst, park slope and maybe bay ridge.
i havent mentioned bay ridge before, but its a nice neighborhood. o yea, and it runs on the
R train line, so the stops are local. it might be easier if you found a place near express lines like D and N, which is mostly bensonhurst. Bayridge is kinda more quiet than bensonhurst and park slope, but it should be around the price of bensonhurst places, more or less.
[EDIT]
dont go to flatbush either!!!!
thats a crappy neighborhood too!! crime sprees man...
seriously, better safe than sorry. stick to the safe neighborhoods, even if the apartments
may not be as big as the crappy neighborhood apartments.

did she tell you "where" in upper east side??
cause UES is a very vague term.... i bet she's like all the way out in York Ave...
(which i'd rather live in brooklyn then be caught dead there. it's literally in the middle of nowhere.)
it's like those dumb brokers... they'll tell you 'oh i have a great apartment for you near central park blah blah blah'... and it ends up being like all the way in harlem. i hate when they do that!
anyway... if you were really, really lucky situation you could maybe be able to find a $1000+ studio in UES
but like i said it would be in around york ave... which i dont think you want that...
cause that area is shady as heck! and you have to walk like 5 aveues to get to subway...
