i dont think there's a huge following for most of the people here, but for those who are interested...

so the games kicked off today...

any expectations?

personally, i think austalia's gonna kick butt, they'll get at least 75% of all the gold medals

someone even said australia'll win every gold on offer in the pool laugh.gif

no doubt australia has some of the world's best swimmers...but i think there are other swimmers elsewhere who can pose threats as well...so watch out!! haha

^yeah i watched the opening today..those fireworks was awesome..i like it alot...and yeah i think there won't be alot of following here since majority of people here are from the us...i remember i had a penpal from the us once and i told her abt the games and she didn't even know wat it was...haha..but really understandable..since it doesn't concern them

So much for that claim. But good for Stephanie Rice that she won, so it's not too bad for the Aussies. But what's up with the drugs find?

Scotland made it a stunning gold double in the pool as Caitlin McClatchey won the 200m freestyle and David Carry triumphed in the 400m freestyle.

McClatchey finished ahead of Libby Lenton, ending the Australian's quest for seven golds in her very first event. England's Melanie Marshall claimed bronze.

Carry overcame Canadian Andrew Hurd and Welsh favourite David Davies to win the 400m freestyle.

Carry overtook Davies on the penultimate length and surged clear to win in a time of three minutes, 48.17 seconds.

Australia's women had a clean sweep in the 200m individual medley.

Stephanie Rice took gold in a new Games record ahead of favourite Brooke Hanson and Lara Carroll, with England's Terri Dunning in fourth. Scotland's Hannah Miley was seventh and Wales' Julie Gould eighth.

England's Liam Tancock broke the Games record twice as he progressed with compatriot Matthew Clay to the final of the 50m backstroke.

In the men's 200m butterfly, New Zealand's Moss Burmester claimed top spot, ahead of Australians Travis Nederpelt and Joshua Krogh. England's Matthew Bowe was sixth.

Olympic champions South Africa rounded off the opening night by edging ahead of Australia to win the men's 4x100m freestyle relay.

It doesn't seem like many people are watching the Commonwealth Games.

don't think the men's team will do that great this year, but the women's swimming team seemed to be doing well in the heats this morning ~

Most of us aren't fortunate enough to live in Australia or any country that broadcasts the games.
