i think the games mean more to these guys than ppl thought they did
i hope he gets bronze
and just read this
Bob Bryan describing Federer after the Bros' loss today: "He's a genius with the ball."
Brother Mike added: "He plays loose, relaxed and comes up with the shots. That's why he's the best."

Ah, got the quote:
LEANDER PAES: <...> I really didn't feel like I had much of a chance on the returns because they were just serving so well. We had one half chance where we had 15-30, and next thing, Wawrinka plays an unbelievable volley.
They both came up guns-a-blazing. FEDERER was hitting half volleys past us at the net, one forehand shot cross-court, one backhand up the line. He is the best player in the world. Looking at that performance in doubles, there's no reason to believe that he's one of probably the best players of all time with the way he played in this match. We just got stuck with him playing unbelievably well.
Yaeh, he did cry, and it just tugs on my heart a little bit. I'm always suckered in. D:
After the match today they wanted to see the match point again...
Federer:
Yeah I am very happy for surr! First medal that is for sure now and he (Wawrinka) played unbelievable well today. It was a big fun to play to today and extraordinaire to beat the best double players of the world. They play the whole time together and me and Wawrinka only about 10 times. To reach that goal is really unbelievable.
Q: Please describe the moment when you knew that you have this medal for sure (match point)
Federer: Ehm yeah it was really nice once again! We celebrated together on the court: He was lying on the court. He was so hot, like a fire! I had to warm myself on him.. no it was really fantastic! It was beautiful!Q: And what was the sign from the Federinka Box?
Federer: Like I said: He was electrifying.. He was electrified.. (laughing) He is in such a good shape at the moment! Fantastic!
Wawrinka: It’s true that I’m going to be stronger from match to match. And besides that I have a partner on my side who is Roger Federer. This is very helpful and gives me a lot of self-confidence
Federer: I think we’ll play tomorrow again. We will be fit.. that’s for sure (smiling)
That was translated, so not his exact words, but you get the idea. xD <3

In the 8-9 decisive set, Blake hit one long but the ball touched Gonzo's raquet. The umpire didn't see it and Gonzo didn't say anything so the point went to him. Blake had an.. angry chat with the Umpire about it but yeah. x:
edit;
Oh, gosh. I'm watching the Li Na Safina game right now and Safina is making double faults left and right on those important points when she's trying to hold.
edit2;
4 double faults in one game...

I'm sad to see Blake lose out to Fernando and then Novak for the bronze medal, but I'm happy he got his first win over Roger. I hope he keeps the momentum for the USO.
Since SIBLINGS are the theme of Olympic doubles this time, I hope the Bryan brothers taking the bronze will inspire the Williams sisters to take the GOLD after beating the Bondarenko sisters in the semis. Go go team!

awwwww, was it just me or did Stan look like the one with 12 grand slams and Roger the little boy in a candy store? The guy is more dorky than we give him credit for. LOLLLL.....

And just wanted to mention that Del Potro is in the Washington finals. The guy has won the last 3 tournaments he played in, and beaten Roddick soundly in LA last week. He's now on the second longest winning streak this year after Rafa. AMAZING STUFF. Can't wait to see him in action against the top seeds. the dude's going places.
Oh and go Williams sisters for Gold! I was hoping for Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs to do well for Aus in the doubles, but twas not meant to be.

actually i've been noticing that name as well
do u know more about him?
edit
just saw this translation of the post match interview
We have to bring the question up: It's a gold medal in double. You look very happy. Does this double title outweigh the loss of the single?
Federer: Well.. It's for sure something helpful to forget what happened. As you know it was a big goal of this season besides Wimbledon. Both of them I didn't get. Therefore it was hard at the beginning you know. But it was very important that Stan revitalized me. I've tried to revitalize him the same way for the double. And if... I wouldn't say that it was kind of a compensation. It's simple dream I had. Winning gold medal at the Olympic games... never mind if it was in double or single. Afterwards the joy now is kind of bigger because you can share your joy. Also if you have looked at us after winning the match point... celebrating together... it wouldn't have been possible in single.
it's true if it was the singles we couldnt have seen the fedrinka celebration
and i'm glad stan revitalised him
that's such an appropriate word
i read that roger plans to play @ the davis cup next yr
i think he really enjoyed his experience in the doubles
EDIT2
sbs is showing the mens final!
but it's laging like 10-15 secs behind NBC
so weird
EDIT3
Congrats to rafa for the gold~ pretty much an expected result but still some good tennis by both sides
(dunno why but didnt really like the commentary on SBS tho)
