Very smart game plan from the Fed, he kept Murray a few meters behind the baseline at all time, and didn't allow him to sneak up to the net the way he did against Rafa in the semis.
The unlucky 13th took a while to come, but at the end of the day, Roger raced through that one. Once he was in the finals he had the 'MINE!'-look on his face, and Murray looked like he didn't know what hit him, except for about a window of 3 games in the second set.
Aaaahhh what a cutie patootie *yes I too am in turbo fangirl mode right now*
And tough luck for Murray. I remember someone wrote last year after the Fed v Djoke USO final that getting Federer for your first ever grand slam final is a bit like getting Jessica Alba for your first date. Well Murray just got too nervous for that one, as we all would.
Not the most attractive photo in the world, but CATHARSIS.

just feel like squealing for no reason whenever the thought crosses my mind
wahahaha
well theoretically roger still can get the year end no.1
but it would be nearly mission impossible
first of all he's got like 1300+ pts to defend
and then he would have to gain more points by winning the tournaments he didnt win last yr
apparently he's playing stockholm this yr which he didnt last year so there's a potential extra 225 pts
and if that's not all, rafa would have to perform worse than last year
he only has 600 sth points to defend and i think he will do better in some of the tournaments which he didnt do as well in last yr
so it's not just on roger's hands but also in rafa's hands
i only jumped onto the fed bandwagon not that long ago
to be honest i did not have a particular fave player after sampras retired
i didnt really follow tennis closely for a few years until maybe sometime last year
i never really liked nor disliked roger...maybe i leaned towards a slight dislike
he sounded a bit too confident at times but i guess how else do u expect him to sound when he's been dominating the mens game for 4 years
(i guess i never really tried to find out what type of person he was anyway)
and as many were wishing for, i also wished at times for someone to defeat him
i wanted him to get through @ AO this year... but it was only when wimbledon came around my views of him changed quite significantly
i think the fact that we were reminded that he is human after all and had emotions made me take my bias off him
I was able to see his passion and love for the sport which i failed to see previously
and i realised how i missed his great play on court... i mean there is noone else who can match his ability (in my opinion anyway)
Anywayz, enough ranting for now and i better get back to work

actually I found it strange but endearing that Federer's popularity SOARED after he was proven "human". It's hard to root for the bastard that wins all the time I guess. Now that he's had the "slump", it's only fitting that he has a 'rebound', and it's nice to see that the crowd at least recognises the champion that he is, as opposed to past players (Mats Wilander, Borg, Patrick McEnroe) as well as sports writers who are quick to dismiss him as over and done.
Serena and Roger were my two ideal winners for this tournament, so I'm just glad that they both made it.
And now that Andy Murray's no 4, and Davydenko is out of the top 5 where I feel he truly belongs, men's tennis is looking better than ever. I wish I could say the same thing about women's tennis, but at least we've finally got a deserving no 1, the Williams's look like they might be interested in playing more tournaments again, Safina's on her way up, and surely Sharapova will return strong and healthy next year. All is well in this crazy year of tennis!
and we've got 2 TMSs and Shanghai TMC to go! A few exos after. aren't we spoilt

Also about the Jankovich and Williams match, i felt so bad for Jelena. Obviously, no match for Serena, but i liked how she played good tennis. One of the most entertaining matches i;ve seen. It was pretty funny how Jelena kept looking at the big screen and watching herself (maybe she should've concentrated more instead of watching?), but she was cool. I sometimes found myself leaning towards Jelena's side after watching her defense. I loved how she slid from side to side, it was like she was sliding on ice or something. LOL.

Ppl ask me "what time is it?"
my answer ... "2PM" .

i think the other thing is also that ppl like to see a fight... they like to see players who have "earned" the victories... because roger makes it look so easy, ppl just somehow dismiss the work and effort he's put in... i think that's one of the reason why rafa is liked by many... because he gives of a feeling as a hardworking person
up til AO this year i actually quite liked djokovic... he was the young and talented... but the rise in rankings got to his head and he got annoying
and i remember watching murray at AO last yr in his match against rafa... i wanted him to win and i remember the match was really close
he appealed to me then... actually i think the young and up n coming players are all very attractive... but then it seems that when they get anywhere, they lose their charm and become irritating (to some extent, and not all but many do)
haha i always wondered how come davydenko was still in the top 5 although he keeps losing
another one of those guys is james blake... thought he would drop out of the top 10 sometime soon but he just keeps on hanging in there
as with women's tennis... i never was really into it... nowhere near as fast and exciting as the mens game
i used to really like monica seles and i actually watched her being stabbed on tv
but i was small (in primary school or sth?) and i dont really recall it that much now
but after that i grew to dislike steffi graf and never took a liking to any other women's player
i mean if i had to choose one now i would go for venus... i dunno why i jsut dont like serena

I thought Jankovic would get completely steamrolled, but she actually managed to make it a match. And she's always such a character. Luv it!

Davydenko actually did really well last year, he consistently made it into the semi finals of grand slams, and took Miami by surprise this year when he beat Roddick and Rafa on his way to the finals. Just one of those players who has the talent but not the mind or the belief that he could win a grand slam. As for James Blake, not a fan of his game, but a fan of his character, he's been through some tough injuries in his career, and managed to bounce back from them and work his way into the top 10.
I thought Murray was the most overrated player before Wimbledon this year (and to some extent I still do. I mean, an autobiography at the age of 21, SERIOUSLY?). But he's managed to convince me through that five setter against Gasquet, and then obviously beating Djokovic twice at Toronto/Cincy, and making the finals at the USO that he's capable of living up to the hype.
Monica Seles was someone I find endearing and I'm sad that her career turned out to be the biggest 'what-if' of tennis, but honestly, I was on the Graf side of the rivalry. I see Federer as the female version of Graf actually, the forehand, the backhand slice, the SHANKED backhands, the athleticism, the all court abilities, the grace etc.
And all this rant just so I can choo-choo some more on my FedExpress fangirl train. Go Smiley Fed, you really earned this one and proved those naysayers and obituary writers wrong.

new article up at tennis.com
http://www.tennis.com/news/news.aspx?id=145134
some parts i liked about it
He’s still only 27, and unlike U.S. Open women’s champion Serena Williams, who doesn’t hide her interests in fashion and acting, Federer can be heard to say, “I live and breathe tennis,” as he did Tuesday.
love the passion he has for the sport
As he and Murray posed for postmatch pictures Monday night, one with the champion’s prize and the other with his runner-up dish, first-time Grand Slam finalist Murray asked whether Federer gets to keep the trophy.
So Federer explained that the U.S. Open replica trophy is the best of the lot because it’s the same size as the original. What they give you at Wimbledon is only 75 percent as big as the real one, he pointed out, and the one at the Australian Open is quite small.
But, Federer recounted, smiling at his own punchline, “I told him, ‘I don’t know about the French Open.”’
haha how cute is that
i'm still in fangirl mode...haha
gotta calm down a bit and switch off from it lol

Yeah not exactly up to par with the Wimby final lol. Bit anticlimactic with it being on a Monday too, instead of usual Sunday.
Anyway, congrats to Fed and also Murray.

I'm not sure if there'll ever be a match on par with that Wimby match. It was kinda once-in-a-lifetime, but I do hope Roger and Rafa get their 'grapple in the apple' one day.
Anyway, on the topic of pic spamming, guess who?
