Djokovic inevitably burns out by the end of the year, I remember last year, he went on a bit of a losing streak during the indoor season too, didn't win a single match in the Masters Cup.

Roger withdrew from Stockholm, I wouldn't be surprised if he withdraws from Madrid or Paris as well. Seems like someone is done with this roller coaster year now that the US Open is in the bag.

Good choice careerwise, but sucks for the fans.

ATP - ROGER WITHDRAWS FROM STOCKHOLM

Roger announced today that he will not be participating in the Stockholm Open which starts next Monday.

"2008 has been a tough year for me as I was always playing catch up after being diagnosed with mononucleosis at the beginning of the year. I feel fortunate to be healthy again, but I want to remain at the top of the game for many more years to come and go after the #1 ranking again. In order to do that, I need to get a proper rest and get strong again so that I am 100% fit for the remainder of the year or next year. At this point, I am not sure when I will be ready to play again, but I hope to be back at some point before the end of the year. I apologize to the tennis fans in Sweden as I was looking forward to playing in Stockholm again. The country has produced so many incredible tennis players and the tournament has such a great history. I hope to be able to come back at some point in the future."

I can't imagine him skipping Basel, but I'm hoping he'll at least play one of Madrid or Paris, coz that's a LOT of points he's throwing out the window. I don't exactly want him to slip to no 3. Imagine being seeded no 3 in the same half as Rafa at the AO next year, that'll make an anticlimatic final.

tennis is weird right now, who thought Berdych was going to win over del Potro? Stan was the top seed because Djokovic the defending champ pulled out, and lost a few points. So very considerate of him since the no 2 spot is in the air

And Ivanovic is on the biggest losing streak, she's lost 6/11 of her matches since the French Open, pathetic. We're in for a LOOONG off season.

Dear fans

After some rest and physical training, I have decided to play in Madrid next week. I am eager and excited to get back on court after winning my 5th consecutive US Open and the Davis Cup tie last month in Switzerland. I will take it one week at a time to ensure I am fully prepared for 2009.

My parents decided to book a two-week holiday during my hometown slam, boohoo! Might catch the first day, but I'm not particularly interested in watching the defending champ breeze through a match with some poor qualifyer, esp since the defending champ is Djoko.

But tickets on sale for Kooyong and I'm going to go and watch Roger, Gulbis, Baghdatis, Gonzalez & co Can't wait for the Aus season to start.

Anyone seen the Madrid draw? Roger's quarter is spelling U.P.S.E.T at the moment.
