I'm sorry, but this is insane. I didn't actually have the chance to watch this match.

It's such a shame he's considering retirement. What a talent.

edit;
Topped a page! Hmm. More Federer, I say?

OMG Safin was insane! My mom loves Safin. lol. She's always going on and on about how good-looking he is. HAHAHA XD Oh, and I absolutely loved his reaction to beating Djoko at this year's Wimbledon 2nd round. ^^; He just seemed so surprised. He didn't even like the grass surface and he got to semis! I was so happy for him, but he just... yeah. =T I can't believe he's thinking about retirement.

I'm just not used to all these younger players, although I do have a couple favorites among them. XD I'm so used to seeing just Federer, Nadal, Roddick, Safin, Robredo, Davydenko, Verdasco, Gonzalez, Hewitt, Moya, Haas, etc. Heck, even if Rafa and Djoko aren't exactly "old" they've defo been the more successful of the younger bunch, so it seems they've been up there for a while to me. Sigh... Once again, I hope some kind of miracle happens on Friday and Fed will qualify for semis. Is that too much to ask for? TT____TT I just think there's been this... spark of sorts that's been missing from Fed this whole season. I hope he gets a good rest after Masters and comes back with a bang next year!

i remember watching that AO final and it was really one of the best tennis matches i've ever seen in my life (and i've seen quite a bit!).......i've always had this love-hate relationship with safin....he's like a kid in high school who has all the knowledge to be the valedictorian but instead drops out because he didn't try hard enough. everyone wants to see him achieve his potential but are left disappointed instead.

thanks wendy! ❤

*coughs violently at the photo*

You know this thread is turning into Federer Fangirlandia. heehee I don't mind...... sweatingbullets.gif

Roger, go save your tush on Friday!

How can you not love Marat Safin? Not only does he possess amazing talent, he's also such an adorable character. My fave all time Safin quotes

QUOTE
"I'm not fighting with myself. Oh, my God. That's how I am. You know, the story of the hippo? The hippo comes to the monkey and said, listen, I'm not a hippo. So, he paint himself like a zebra. He said but he's still a hippo. He said but look at you, you're painted like a zebra but you are a hippo. So then he goes, you know, like I want be a little parrot. So, he put the colours on him and he comes to the monkey and said but, sorry, you are a hippo. So, in the end, you know, he comes and said I'm happy to be a hippo. This is who I am. So, I have to be who I am and he's happy being a hippo. "
After 1st round defeat to Kiefer, Toronto Master Series 2004

"It's like love. When you look too hard, you don't find it. When you let it happen naturally, it comes."
-Marat telling CNNSI.com how he rediscovered his form at the AO 2002.

"My friend, there is nothing so sexy as a woman who is angry. Perhaps when she is even throwing things."

Webchat at Indian Wells 2001
gabrielle: MARAT: Do you find it hard to be a star? Do people recognize you in the street?
Marat_Safin: the stars are only in the sky
[during a web chat]
Girl "Say something to me Marat!!"
Marat " Something."

urgh, looks like Djokovic wants the No 2 and wants it right now. totally killing it out there against tsonga.

I just got home and just checked the score. 6-1? Ouch.

And dOotsiez (I need names, damn it!), I remember going through a whole page of Safin quotes. The things he says.. xD

edit;
Tsonga just took the second set! :DDDD

And Tsonga just broke. Ok, time to start watching this match. o_o

What the Djoko? What the hell happened? His attitude is so blah. D: I say no more.

LOL I love Marat. He's such a character. I hated him because of his emotional outbursts(b/c I was so used to Fed's quiet... lol), but I watch his interviews, and I see matches like that 2005 AO semi & 2004 Houston Maters against Fed... Seriously, I can't believe he didn't win anymore slams. =T (It's ok though since Roger got them XD).

Even though Tsonga's pretty much been confirmed out, I'm glad he beat Djoko today! Heh. Three in a row, baby! ^______^ (Now why couldn't he do that at AO?!?!) Anybody catch the Del Potro-Davydenko match? Del Potro's still young, has many years, so I'm glad Davydenko got in. ^^;

Anyways, I'm so antsy/nervous for tomorrow. I'm happy because I'll be able to catch it before my chem lecture, but so incredibly nervous for Fed. But I realized, I don't think I'll be too upset if Fed loses tomorrow. I'll be relieved that the season is finally over, and Fed can get some well-deserved rest and recharge time for 2009!

^ yeah strangely enough I've reached a state of zen about the match. Federer's body is obviously crashing on him, it needs to be on vacation, and Federer wants to push it for a number few matches, we'll see what happens, but I'm not terribly optimistic.

Tsonga v Djerk match was bizarre. Tsonga looked out of it in the first set, Djokovic on fire. Then Tsonga woke up in the second and won the set, from then on, it just seemed like Djokovic didn't care, didn't want to win, and the whole "Novak vs the World" complex came out again. Grrrr.... oh well, I'm happy Tsonga won a match, even if hes out of contention, each win is worth $100,000, god I know I could do with that much money. dry.gif

loveprint you mean my name? everyone here can call me julie if you get sick of typing the teenybopper name i was known by back when i was 14 or something. tongue.gif

Hi Julie & Nina! ^___^ I'm Bo! Julie, what does you name mean? I've been meaning to ask... Heh. ^^;

Holy Hera! 100 G's a match?! That's insane! I could defo use that for college tuition. Jeez dry.gif And you know, I'm sure Djoko just really didn't care because he's into semis, so nothing to worry about for him. I bet Fed would've still given it his all! (lol, ok, no more Fed business until tomorrow. Eek!)

Why is it a teenybopper name Julie? I'm just clueless I know. tongue.gif

You could totally see how much Fed is holding on for this last tournament of the year.....he obviously wants nothing more than to dump his rackets and fly to the nearest 5-star resort but the man's a professional.....gotta tough it out even if you're not 100%.

thanks wendy! ❤

IS IT POSSIBLE TO FALL EVEN MORE IN LOVE WITH FEDERER?!

Roger takes the first set 6-4. Thank you very much. A surprise, I must say. Here's hoping he doesn't get sloppy.

AH!!!!!!!!! FED GOT FIRST SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got worried because he broke then got broken right back.... TT____TT BUT At least he broke again! His BH isn't looking too bad either. He had a couple nice net points ^____^ I just hope for the best this next set because Simon won against Stepanek in two, and if Roger wins this in three, he's probably out because Simon has the better record against him, meaning he'll go up... >_< BUT NO! NO THINKING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS! POSITIVE~~~!!!!

EDIT:

AHHH Lost first game of 2nd set... XD

oh damn. i completely forgot about tonight's match.

how is his form tonight? are we looking at a winner?

edit/ i don't want to see him losing to murray again this year. why is it that his second set is always lacking. UF errors are going to become frequent again T___T
