^ Me thinks Federer's a little distracted by all the wedding plans and 'shoud-i-buy-pink-or-blue-for-my-baby' issues. LOL

Wonderbang, I love it too that they had such a private ceremony. I hate those People magazine affairs. Still... would've liked Fed to at least post a picture of Mirka's dress for us fangirls to buzz over. Mentioning weddings, seems to be the season for them. Andy Roddick is walking down the aisle this week.

And back to tennis! Nice to see two former world no 1s, grand slam champions - Hewitt and Ferrero - win titles last week, it's been a while for either of them. biggrin.gif

EDIT // Oh what do you know, topped a page! No wedding pictures, but pics of the new Mr and Mrs Federer to celebrate biggrin.gif awwww

Ah but heaps of guys got married during the career, Rafter and Sampras too. I think they'll be fine, Mirka and Brooklyn follow their men around to all the tournaments anyway. Hell Mirka's been doing that for almost 10 years.

Plus I always think the media has been a little harsh on Hewitt with the whole marriage and babies thing - he was a lost cause before then.

Mentioning Mirka, just LOOK at that ring.

And good news for those wanting Sharapova back, myself included - it seems like she's planning a return to tennis during the clay season. Most likely Rome.

WOAH....HOLLER. I want a diamond ring. sad.gif

And funny how you said Hewitt was a lost cause even before marriage...what's your take on that? I can't seem to figure out how the guy stayed number one for so long and suddenly fell off his perch.

And yay for Maria. I'm sure she's not too happy with the surface but back playing tennis is a good thing.

thanks wendy! ❤

What happened to Lleyton Hewitt? 2 things: Federer, and then injuries. Between 2004 and 2005, Lleyton Hewitt lost to Federer 10 consecutive times or something equally ridiculous. Every time he made semifinals or finals of a grand slam or Masters, he would run into Federer (or Nadal on clay ironically). Roddick was probably sitting there going "yup, story of my life". The only difference being Roddick hasn't had as many injuries as Hewitt. And if you work your body as hard as Lleyton Hewitt, chances are injuries do become very common.

Nice to see him healthy again though, and back winning titles too. I don't think he'll ever make it big at the grand slam level, but he's a handy guy to have around on your Davis Cup tea. heehee

I agree...I wasn't a huge Hewitt fan back in the day but I seriously do miss the guy and his fist pumps on tour now. I hope he continues to do well!

thanks wendy! ❤

As much credit as Stan deserves, clearly Federer was not playing well. His forehand sprayed errors left and right and I never felt he was in the match. He looked so lackadaisical....honeymoon hangover?

On the other hand, hottie Verdasco burned through Ferrer losing only 3 games. Interesting clay season coming up...

thanks wendy! ❤

^ I dunno how much I actually expected from Federer - got a wild card 2 days before the tournament started, got married the next day, and then arrived on the first day of the tournament. Bride sitting courtside with a rock the size of a baby-elephant. I'm not that surprised that he never got into the match (or the tournament). I don't think he was banking on getting a tough draw to start out with though, but oh well. Not too fussed unless he continues like this for Rome and Madrid. Hopefully with a bit more training, he'll be fine smile.gif

Loveprint, Cecilia and my fellow Fedophiles, feeling a little sad nevertheless? This will cheer you up! (or make you wanna dig a hole and jump into it)

And mentioning tennis stars getting hitched, Andy Roddick and Brooklyn are married today, with Elton John as their wedding singer apparently. Congrats and all the best!

Lol, Federer's been struggling A LOT lately. His domination era is over, and it's currently Nadal's time. Lol @ the time when Federer was so frustrated in the match against Novak Djokovic because of his so-many unforced errors. He crushed his racquet on the floor, never seen that side of him before. He's usually a quiet, calm and relaxed player.
hi :]

I hate to say never in tennis. Anything can happen so I'm just going to wait for Roger to let his tennis do the talking. I have a feeling he'll get out of this funk. smile.gif

thanks wendy! ❤

Fed has made the last 14/15 grand slam finals. To say his time is over is slightly bizarre, but I do wonder how much he still cares about non-slam events these days. He seems to avoid playing them altogether, and only turn up when its absolutely compulsory, and can't be bothered digging deep when he gets into a third set.

And ... Safina's official No 1 this week, yikes. Who will be the next WTA player to become No 1 without a slam? Elena Dementieva's close.

^ ha that's actually not me in the picture. Just some Fed fan holding up the Swiss sports illustrated.

Fed Cup this weekend. Australia v Switzerland played in Mildura, not too far outside Melbourne. If we had drawn the Swiss for Davis Cup too, trust me I'd be in Mildura right now, but as it turns out, Swiss women's tennis sans Martina Hingis isn't worth watching.
