congrats to fed though!

cmon RAFA! time to step it up! VAMOS!

he actually seemed like a fan of Roger to me. For some reason. But pfft, fan my ass. Show some effing respect. And stay away from Roger.

haha i was kinda pissed off at that guy who disrupted the match!!

i thought he was holding up a spanish flag..ahh so i guess his not a fed fan?
i wish i could think of some sweet impactful madeup phrase to insert here.lol<3

Onto other news (what?), did you guys hear that Rafa may not play Wimbledon?
I'm not exactly sure how serious it is, but his knee has been acting up again and they have no idea what's wrong with it.

lol rf.com is lagging like nobody's business.

HUGS. HUGS FOR ALL OF YOU LOVELY FOLKS WHO KEPT ME SANE AND INSANE THESE TWO WEEKS.

*RUNS AWAY IN TEARS*

Do you believe in fairy tales now?

Aww, I do believe in fairy tales, I really do now. biggrin.gif Roger Federer deserved this win, so so much. I am SO happy for him. Roger fought so hard throughout this tournament, and he won the final in style - straight sets! Woah, what a champ!! laugh.gif And Soderling's speech was very gracious too.

The only part which slightly marred this final was the stupid idiot who jumped onto the court. That was scary. Flashbacks of the Monica Seles incident. Thank gawd Federer managed to shrug it off and continue playing his best.

Well done. Well Done! biggrin.gif

p/s - You guys are such good Federer fans, it's been a pleasure reading this thread! smile.gif

I know. I had the sneaking feeling it was a Rafa fan becuz he wore all red, and you could hear some people chanting "Rafa! Rafa!" although he wasn't even playing in the final. I saw some waving spanish flags in the stands. Trying to distrupt our boy Federer's rhythm perhaps? I wouldn't put it past some crazy disgruntled Rafa fan doing that, after seeing Federer taking the lead in the first set. wink.gif

Did anyone think Federer was going to start crying in that last game. Seriously I was talking to a friend and we were both like "mini cooper Federer's gonna cry before the match actually finished". Like - I totally WASN'T crying by then. Totally not. cool.gif

^ Jimmy Jumper? WTH?

It'll be upsetting if Rafa, the reigning champion, isn't able to make it for Wimby. I hope all goes well for him and those knees recover fast <3

^ I dunno, for some reason I think the Spanish media's jumped very quickly onto what uncle toni said and made a big deal of out it. Nadal always complains of knee problems, he says this one is from miami. And Im just like, well dude - you played Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid and Roland Garros after Miami.

Couldn't you have pulled out on some of those?

I think Rafa just needed some R&R to deal with loss at Roland Garros. He should be fine biggrin.gif

And seriously that Jimmy Jumper guy is an asset hole. Psychotic attention seeker.
He scared me so much last night, coz he reminded me of the Seles incident. It was just as well that he wasn't planning to do harm. The security staff should be sacked.

Omgosh, don't even mention the Seles incident. The thought of something like that happening with Roger... *doesn't want to think about it*

This is a good comparison.

I, for one, totally had a Seles stabbing deja vu when I saw it happening. It's scary these days and I really hope security is beefed up. It's easy to laugh and all when you see streakers and such but these intruders definitely can be dangerous.

But I don't want to rain on the party!! So forget all of that and what matters is that history was made yesterday with Federer becoming the sixth man to have a career slam and in the process tying Sampras' record. That calls for some HUGE CONGRATS!

I purposely stayed away from this thread during the match because I was already nervous as is! It was nice of Roger to win it in straights though....saved me from a near panic attack. Now onwards to bigger and better things! Go Rog! smile.gif

thanks wendy! ❤

UStream. you just go on google, and type in ustream, go to sports, and they have a bunch of diff. streaming places. it's not very clear, but better than nothing.

I don't know what to say. =_=

him - would be better if he could get it in a year
me - you don't think what he's achieved so far is good enough?
him - lol yeah its good just that he showed so much potential
me - you don't really think he's lived up to that potential?
him - yes and no
probably should of got it heaps earlier
but yeah he has had a standout career
me - pfft
him - reckon he should retire soon lol

^ LOLLLL, seems like we've both been having frustrating tennis dialogues today.

Me: Hey Federer won the French Open!
Friend: okay.
Me: ... umm, lemme try again: ROGER FEDERER WON THE FRIGGIN FRENCH OPEN!!! OMG OMG ARGH ARGH ARGH!!!
Friend: Good for him ... I guess?
Me: *slumps back*
Friend: so he's got all the slams now - Wimbledon, French Open, Aus Open and ...?
Me: the US Open!!!
Friend: umm ... I thought there was one in Spain ...
Me: *looking for a padded wall*
Friend: seriously, what's Spanish one called ... Roland Garros?
Me: *barfs up bile*

for the record, most of the my friends are smarter than that.

Nadal said he's going to do his best to be at Wimbledon. Looks like he's in R&R mode.

looks like i've been lucky the past few days since i've been chatting to ppl about who's the GOAT (ie sampras or federer)... but since i like sampras too i didnt get into any 'arguments' with anyone lol

and roger's pulled out of halle
i was actually thinking how he could play halle when it's immediately after RG
such a tight schedule
too bad there isnt another tournament int he week before wimby for him to play
and too bad he loses 450 points just like that
i was hoping for him to defend his title coz that would bring him closer to rafa
but i guess like he said himself, the only really important thing to him now are majors

and rafa's going to play wimby
woohoo~~~ wimby would be weird without the top seed even tho i dunno if i can handle another nervewracking 5 set final between the 2
