Britons are just tooooooooooooooo desperate for a homegrown champion! Look at how that ruined Henman. Poor guy couldn't wait to retire (and probably set fire to Henman Hill).

thanks wendy! ❤

^ yeah I just heard that, sounds TERRIBLE. He's going to plan against Stan Wawrinka tomorrow and then hold a presscon to decide whether he's able to defend wimbledon or not. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

This is a lot worse than I thought.

Seriously, without Rafa, I can only imagine how much more hype Andy Murray's going to get... :/

NO! Rafa can't be out of Wimby! What's a GrandSlam without the #1?!

This can't be happening.

Pleaaaase. I can't imagine Wimbledon without Rafa. T^T Though I do think he's going to play.

QUOTE
Bernard’s dream of making his maiden appearance in the Wimbledon men’s draw was dashed on Thursday when he went down in the final round of qualifying.

Tomic was beaten by Edouard Roger-Vasselin, who qualified for the third straight year with a 7-6(1) 6-4 6-0 win.

The 16-year-old Queenslander amused the crowd with his efforts to re-focus against the world No.172 as the match started to slip away from him, muttering: “This is the first round of Wimbledon against Federer.”

Tomic, who last year reached the Wimbledon boy’s semifinals, stood his ground in the first set but the experience of the Frenchman nine years his senior was telling.

Bernard will compete in the Wimbledon Junior event.
Aww, boo!

AND VOTE FOR ROGER! :D

Hm Murray is in Nadal's half. If Nadal pulls out, I think every British person would jump for joy....

thanks wendy! ❤

I'm a little "eh" about the draw..... :/

Oh, Rafa, please stay. Wimbledon isn't the same without you! We can't have a French AND a Wimbledon final without you and Roger meeting... (Although, I agree with dOotsiez? on having an Andy RODDICK-Roger final would be awesome as well!)

I hope Marat does well! I love that dude, and since it's his last year... Another run like last year, please? Too bad he isn't meeting Novak again. lol.

I noticed Gulbis was in that same side of the draw. How's he been doing lately? I remember last year, people were starting to talk about him and his potential and all that, but I haven't heard about him all that much since...??

i remember when i looked at the wimby draw last yr i was so excited coz there were heaps of potentially exciting matchups
i dunno why this year i'm not getting that same feeling
hmmmmmmm
even if rafa decides to play it wont be the same i reckon coz his performance is going to be overshadowed by his injury sleep.gif

i havent taken much notice of gulbis but i think i read somewhere that he's basically crashed out in 1st/2nd rounds in everything he's entered recently

Even if Dokic and Stosur win their first round matches they are drawn to meet in the second round, which means disappointment for Australia no matter what.
That's a killer. D: And with Hewitt set to meet Nadal in the second round. T_T

I'll rather see Nadal not play at Wimbledon and rest for the US Open and aim for a career grand slam

Edit - It's official, Nadal is out of Wimbledon !

^Seriously? I would like to see some evidence!

That just really kills Wimby for me if Rafa's not in it (even though I'm a Roger fan) T__________T

Sad news. sad.gif I fully expect Rafa to rest up now and play like crazy for a career slam.

Boy, this is not the way Federer wanted to win slams this year. I hope he stays focussed.

Get this:
1) Roger Federer wins = No 1
2) Murray outperforms or loses in the same round as Federer = Murray No 2, Federer slips to No 3.
3) Nadal stays ahead of Murray no matter what.
4) Top 3 stays ahead of Djokovic no matter what.
