^ considering Rod Laver's kids don't play tennis, Agassi and Graf's kids don't seem to be around on the juniour circuit yet, and Sampras's boys don't show much interest in the sport either, I think it's more likely that Myla and Charlene take over Vogue magazine than the WTA. biggrin.gif

Honestly I can't really think of any "tennis dynasties". We have plenty of siblings, not a whole lotta parents/kids.

Robby Ginepri just won Indy. Seriously? Where did that guy go for 2 years? lol

lol I don't really know but go Robby! Too bad he lost in 3 sets to Safin in the second round in LA this week. Damn, I'm still so incredibly mad that I had the chance to attend this tournament but couldn't go..arrgh.

thanks wendy! ❤

The Bank of the West Classic looks almost like a WTA Grand Slam with so many big names playing. Looking forward to Venus and Maria in the quarters. Also, Bartoli and Jankovic because they seem to get on each other's nerves lol.

Sigh, if I knew the field was this good, I would have looked into tickets for the event....plus Stanford's campus is gorgeous.

thanks wendy! ❤

^ I'm so impressed with the WTA commitment list for Stanford and LA next week. 10 out of the top 15 will be there in LA. That's amazing, compared to the ATP at least.

Woah, Dementieva just lost 0 and 1 to Venus. That's ... pure pwnage. And thumbs up to Sam Stosur, hope she takes down Bartoli in the semi.

There's a random Aussie in the final of LA. Carsten Ball? Wha? WHA -??!

Venus sprayed too much to beat Bartoli but did completely owned Dementieva and Sharapova last week. That's the problem though: when does Good Venus come out and when does Bad Venus?

Anyways, the Cincinnati event looks really good for the WTA and that's saying a lot considering the fields in LA and Stanford. Kimmy is finally making her comeback so I'm excited to see how she does. Maybe she can give some ounce of normalcy (whatever that is lol) back to the WTA.

thanks wendy! ❤

ZOMG Sharapova beat Azarenka. Didn't see that one coming - Maria was NOT match fit, and Azarenka's been on fire all year.

WOOHOO!

Can't wait for Clijsters back either, even though I'd like to see the other Belgian back more. sad.gif

URGH Soompi's got a new look. WT?

Woooooah....this Soompi look is......interesting?

Anyways, Safina went down to Zheng. I sympathize for the girl because she's getting so much heat for being the number 1 without a GS title. Maria managed to pull her match off but Ivanovic went down to Stosur. Sam is playing really well and I think she can make a big dent at the USO.

Still looking forward to Kimmy's return though biggrin.gif

thanks wendy! ❤

^ woah! No way! Have lots and lots and lots of fun biggrin.gif

And yes, "AWWWW" at the Federers.

They're identical twins! Federer did an interview with the NY Times and said he found out during the Doha tournament that Mirka was preggers, and knew in the last week of the Australian Open that it was going to be twins, LOL no wonder he cried. Hormones. tongue.gif

Oh yeah, and he said he accidentally forgot to mention to THE ENTIRE WORLD that he was having more than one child. Errr... hehehehe.

^ehehe it could've gone either way. Tough luck for Andy Roddick, he's playing awesome tennis right now. I wouldn't want to play him at the US Open.

Pity Stosur fell in another final. She's been playing so well lately. biggrin.gif

Sam has really been stepping it up this year. I think she can do really well at the USO given a friendly draw and some inspired tennis. The last major is getting exciting biggrin.gif

P.S. Kimmy won her first match back on her comeback! And she took out Bartoli who just won the Stanford Bank of the West tournament over Jankovic and Venus. Not too shabby for a mom! wink.gif

Quote of the day:

QUOTE
Clijsters looked good even before she started playing, according to Serena Williams.

“I look like I had a kid more than she does,” Williams said earlier in the day. “She looks amazing.”

LOL. I love Serena's press conferences.

thanks wendy! ❤

^ hehehe I read that and giggled. Serena's so secure about her body image, lovely to see!

And Marat Safin's presscons not too bad either: biggrin.gif

QUOTE
Q. Because after years when she [SAFINA] wasn't playing so well, are you enjoying it now?
MARAT SAFIN: [omitted]
So it's a little bit -- it gets tough on her. But she's there. She's fighting. She's trying. I'm really proud of her that she can stand, and I tell everybody to XXXX off basically in every press conference. I would do this way, but unfortunately she's very polite to you guys.
But I'm really proud that she's holding up herself even though that's somebody can be really rough on her. She's there. I hope she can be No. 1 for a long time so she can prove to everybody that they can go and XXXX themselves.
Q. Now that you stopped, what about coaching her?
MARAT SAFIN: Oh, you want me to hang myself? (laughter.)

Oh Marat! Pity he lost!

Poor Marat...he doesn't believe he can win another title before he retires but at least he still has his sense of humor!

Speaking of him, the most bizarre story this week must be when Safina said she almost had to pull out of LA and Cincinnati because she stabbed herself deep in her left hand trying to open a coconut! Moral of the story: COCONUTS ARE DANGEROUS!

Lastly, Kimmy is into the third round where she faces her toughest opponent yet in Kuznetsova. I'm really excited to see how she does against a top player.

thanks wendy! ❤

I haven't been following Montreal at all, and the only reason I know this is cause I decided to check out RF.com, but wow, the top 8 all though? Yes.

lol it doesn't seem anyone follows tennis outside of the grand slams. i guess dOotsiez and i will occupy ourselves until the USO rolls around and more people come back.

anyways, montreal is shaping up to be quite a tournament. i think it's the first time in a long time that the top eight players in the world have made it to the quarterfinals of a tournament together (one article said it was first time in history?!?!) should be some great tennis coming up.

in cincinnati, mummy kim is continuing to dominate with a win over kuznetsova. i think she can definitely take out safina and probably win the tournament, especially now that both williams are out (not surprised since they combined for 82 unforced errors.....) i think kimmy came back JUST at the right time.

thanks wendy! ❤

Mm, the article on RF.com said it was the first time in history, too.

I usually do follow tennis pretty religiously, though I slack off here and there. D: It's when I have other commitments, I stray a little. And when I'm capped. xD
