julie, and anyone else interested in watching the AO next yr
tickets for the 2010 AO go on sale like next week
anyone want to go together?
me and nina are thinking of going down to melbourne for the 2nd week

LOL I sent a msg to Nina on twitter a few days ago about this too. You interested in going to the final? Cos I would totally love to go.

My friends are like "okay, early rounds? Yes. Kooyong? Yes. But no way we're forking out that much money to come with you to the final."

So if you guys are going to the final, count me in wink.gif

EDIT// The obligatory "first post" picture. To Ai Sugiyama, the "Fabrice Santoro" of women's tennis. sad.gif

And four guys with their schticks standing in front of the twin towers in KL. I think there's a metaphor for this ...

I'm up for all the matches you said. Two of my friends are coming with me, but they might only go to one session. Or they might skip out on the AO all together. They just want to hang in Melbourne haha.
Apparently I couldn't say that to you privately cause uhm, I felt bad for not posting in this thread.

Yeah, I guess I'll be staying with them?
One of them will not be watching the AO, while the other one will catch one session. She was up for the final, until I told her how much it was. XD I'll let you know which session she wants to crash.
Wait, we're definitely up for the finals, y/n?

Hi welcome to Soompi (and to the lonely tennis forum! lol)

I don't think any of us (or at least the active posters) are in Beijing (though I think all of us would love to be!)

Hope you have a lot of fun and report back if you see anything interesting. Being a spectator at a live tennis tournament is completely different from just watching it!

thanks wendy! ❤

Welcome jafa! No we're not in Beijing, would love to be there.

Tough for Venus, there's definitely something wrong with her knee. You don't go from having the best serve on tour to serving 14 doubles in a match.

And Safina lost to Zhang Shuai, ranked 226 in the world. I do believe that's the lowest ranked player that a No 1 has ever lost to. Shame.

I hope Venus gets it together by the year ending championships. I really really want to see her defend her title.

As for Safina, can't help but sympathize for her because she was a wreck after the match, visibly crying and having to cancel her post match press conference. To add insult to injury, Safina will lose her number 1 ranking If Serena beats Makarova tomorrow.

thanks wendy! ❤

One of the sports world's most glamorous marriages crashed and burned last week, as former tennis star Chris Evert and golf legend Greg Norman split just 15 months after getting married.

Unsurprisingly, Laura Andrassy, Norman's jilted wife of 25 years, was in no mood to be charitable to the parted celebrity couple. "Being with Chris is what Greg wanted," Andrassy said to the Palm Beach Post. "Well, he got it." Ouch.

Chris just went through another divorce.....

But in (better?) news, Serena has regained her number 1 ranking and Sharapova is back in the top 10. I don't think Maria can make it into the year ending championships this late in the stage can she?

thanks wendy! ❤

Shuai Peng is really on the upset train in her home tournament. First Jankovic, now Sharapova. Up next is either Petrova or Serena.

On the other hand, poor Li Na. Not only did she lose badly to Dementieva today, Chinese media kept pressuring her to admit that she has "psychological problems." No wonder she has such an antagonistic relationship with her own country's media. I would too if people kept calling me mental because of one loss!

thanks wendy! ❤

Shuai Peng beating Sharapova was a real bummer for me, didn't get to watch Maria's earlier matches so i was hoping she'd get to the semis or finals.

Great to see Nadal get past Blake just moments ago, hoping for a Safin and Nadal semi !! (night session since that's the ticket i have for the semi lol).

Wouldn't really know who to support though as i'm a fan of both XD.
