Congrats to Davo of course.

But anyone heard the ATP sex scandal? Two players caught soliciting prostitutes in Stockholm. Could be facing criminal charges.

No official news yet, but word is that one of the players is Ernests Gulbis.

Just read about it but had no idea Gulbis was suspected...... :/

Also, just read that Henin is making her official comeback at Brisbane. Any of you Aussies gonna be there?

Hmm badminton is easier at the amateur level I suppose. Professionally I think it might even be harder. It's just a fast sport...

Thinking about it. Depends on how everything goes with work/summer semester. Although the tournament in Brissie's shaping up to be quite awesome.

And yeah Gulbis. Seriously. Anyone surprised he lost first match and refused to do media?

oh gosh, did anyone get a chance to watch Safina-Jankovic match ( the WTA sony ericson championships--DOHA) last night? it's devastating to see Safina (emotionally) collapsed like that. poor girl>_< seriously, she really needs a break. she can't keep going with an emtional wreck like that. it's no good at all.

yeah the waterworks were definitely on....not a good way to end the season at all. safina tried hard to end the year number one but the plan backfired. i hope she just mentally takes off for the next two months and come back next year refreshed.

on the flip side, the player to beat at the championships so far is definitely serena. i think she would love nothing more than to add this championships trophy to her year ending number one ranking. she's at her best when she's pumped up.

off the court, has anyone been reading the excerpts from agassi's new book? wow...some interesting stories to tell to say the least. i have nothing but respect for the guy (he's probably my favorite sentimental player) but it takes a lot of guts to reveal these (potentially legacy-tarnishing) details to the public. i think in the end it won't matter but still a risky move nonetheless.

thanks wendy! ❤

LOL. I must have missed that tongue.gif

well...i'm not sure i can fully explain it but SOMEHOW (despite losing two out of her three round robin matches) venus williams has clawed her way into the wta championships final for the second straight time. it'll be a rematch with serena, who's just tearing up the draw. my sentimental vote will be for venus (who hasn't won any big titles this year) but serena is just on fire and it'll take more than venus and a bucket of water to put her out.

thanks wendy! ❤

yeah the atp is getting a bad rap but honestly i think it's not 100% their fault. back then drug testing was carried out by an independent panel made up of non-tennis related individuals and executives. the atp didn't actually have the formal authority in dealing with agassi's case. of course it makes for a more sensationalist headline if the atp did.

thanks wendy! ❤

That's a tough senario but a couple factors could be at work.

It COULD be that the coach is showing favoritism which is bit unfair if all else is equal but rarely is all else equal. To determine that, you have to eliminate variables.

The first place I would look is at myself. Not an easy thing to do when you feel you've been slighted but everyone who climbs to greatness looks at themselves first.

You mentioned that your Dad said the coach said you had a bad attitude. That doesn't necessarily mean you were rude. It could mean that you were uncoachable, not a team player, selfish on the court or any number of things. Rudeness and a temper are only a couple forms of a bad attitude. Perhaps the coach was impressed with your skills but felt that you didn't take direction and this other person did.

In business, no matter how talented a person is, if they're unwilling to accept criticism and change and grow, they'll get passed or dismissed. It's a hard fact of life but it's very fair.

If you've done all you can to make yourself as teachable and coachable as possible, ask the coach if you can challange for a spot. Perhaps you can attain a second chance. You have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

And btw, if this answer got under your skin and you bristled at the idea that it really could be your attitude, that's a pretty obvious clue.

I hope that offers some insight. Good luck and keep it between the lines!

Thanks

Did you post in the wrong thread? ^^''

Anyways, Novak upsets Roger in Roger's home court. I guess the guy still has some spirit left...should be an interesting year ending championships.

Djoko's in good form, although I must admit his "form" was mostly over a depleted field rather than any spectacular play.

Not sure about Murray. He lost to Stepanek last week and still looked tentative on the wrist. Obviously I'm hoping that Federer does well here, but almost every player has some sort of physical issue right now, I'm hoping they don't all drop like flies the way the girls did in Doha. The men's season is ridiculously long this year.

Finished exams last week, WOOO. Now am on summer vacation til next March, with 2 Oz Open tickets in Jan, possibly Kooyong too! Good times ...

In other news, just finished reading Andre Agassi's autobio. Holy smokes, it was goooooooood.

I am so envious......such a long vacation....sigh.

Anyhow, you read the whole thing already?! I haven't even gotten my hands on his book yet. If it's that good, no wonder they're selling like hot cakes everywhere..

(oh and I totally agree that the men's season seems RIDICULOUSLY long this year.....it's the end of NOVEMBER and we're STILL talking about tennis going on....not that as a fan I mind....but sheesh....crazy stuff)

thanks wendy! ❤

^ It's actually really well written (mainly cos it's ghost written by a guy who's won the Pulitzer before) and very, very honest. Agassi basically let spill all his thoughts on fellow players, Brook Shields, his own depression. It's one of those "rite of passage" books. I definitely recommend it.

Talk about a long season, I can't remember the last time the Davis Cup was in December. Nadal's gotta play the DC, and then Abu Dhabi on the 31th December, so he has about 3 weeks off altogether. Given the sort of body he has, this is going to suck for him.

Anyway, ROGER BEAT ANDY MURRAY. Hurrah! biggrin.gif

lol i was happy too...go roger! smile.gif

i had a funny experience with agassi's book yesterday...i boarded my plane and the lady sitting right next to me dropped her bookmark. i picked it up, gave it to her, and saw that she was reading "open!"....that and agassi's face was staring me in the eye biggrin.gif

i couldn't help but to peek at the pages as she was reading...i hope she didn't think i was creepy! XD

thanks wendy! ❤
