For those of you with an Amex card, it is most probable that the PS3 will be an item on their annual holiday My Wish sales. This is how a friend of mine got his Xbox 360 last year. My Wish starts on Nov 28th~~ Go to the website for details.~~ The probability of getting the opportunity to buy one is extremely low but at least everyone gets an equal chance at it without waiting in line. Plus the cost will be lower than MSRP. smile.gif

I didn't think I'd do this, but I actually camped out at Best Buy and got myself a 60 GB PS3.. WOOOOOO!!!!

For everyone, this guy offered $1,500 for it, is that a good deal for me? Yes or no I need opinions..

If someone's willing to waste $1500 on a game system, I'd say let him do it. You can buy another one with lots of money to spare later.

^^Yeah, but should I up the price or sell to someone else? It is running for $2,000 in some places!
Thanks for your advice though.

Its better when you take the money and realize they're counterfeits.

Its happened before and well deserved haha.

Sell for more. Ignore all the complaints in this thread about "you should let real gamers buy it at reg price". We live in a country where the economic foundation is built on the notion of supply and demand. That whole argument is completely flawed in so many ways. I could care less if every ps3 made was bought by people who wanted to make a profit on it. Such people had to stand in line (or whatever else they had to do) and made the effort to get those ps3 consoles. If "real gamers" want it that badly, they should strive to make a bigger effort to get their hands on one. The way I see it, even if selling a ps3 for higher than msrp (personal or retail) was illegal and punishable by death, those complaining about not being able to get one because of "profiters" still wouldn't have got one. Why? Because all those who were willing to pay exorbitant amounts for it would have made the most extreme effort possible to get their hands on one and it is likely that they would have been on line ahead of you anyway. Generally speaking, you would have still been guy #11 on line at a store that only had 10 for sale. Of course there are exceptions, but this would be the general outcome. If someone is willing to pay $2-3,000 for it, then more power to you to sell it at that price. If someone wants to point fingers, point it at the supplier (Sony) for creating such a large delta in the supply/demand ratio. I guarantee you that there are a WHOLE LOT more "real gamers" out there than there are ps3's to fullfill the demand and I'll bet just about the same percentage of these "real gamers" would sell it to other "bigger real gamers" for large amounts of money. In the end, the situation is inevitable and unavoidable. Whether someone has the intent to profit from the beginning or decides to sell it later due to an enormously favorable offer, the outcome is the same.

It doesn't take much to look at a bill and tell if it's real or not. If it is really that difficult for someone to tell go invest in a $2 detection marker.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/ps3-launch/more-p...ence-215292.php

The manager of this store decided to put 10 chairs outside in front of a full crowd and then decided whoever got a seat gets a ps3. What did he expect but a riot.

Seems like the going price on ebay for a ps3 is roughly $2300~ dollars. I had predicted 3-5x and it seems to be right on target. It's amazing how many auctions there are for the ps3 all ending in the next couple of hours.

Bah, PS3 is too expensive for it's own good.
I mean that blu-ray thing sounds great, ya know, no piracy, but charging an extra buttload of cash for it...No way.

My ultimate question is.. Is there really a launch game on PS3 that really warrants such attention? No. Just about every decent game is a port from another platform. For the same amount of money you can get a $$$ PC and get the same game. I think some people just need to camp out and get a console on day 1 because their lifestyle dictates so. For me to camp out 2+ days to get something, it would REALLY have to be meaningful in my life (I mean to the point where it's a life changing experience). I just cant imagine someone wanting a PS3 THAT badly. If it is simply for the fact of being able to make a ~2000 profit from it, then I guess their financial situation must REALLY suck. I just dont see what game on a PS3 is so compelling that you MUST play it on day 1. All the exclusive titles on PS3 are all new comers..~~!!! This actually also applies to the Xbox 360 release. I never understood why people felt the need to get one on day 1.

IF you could make a $2000 profit for waiting 2 days.. could be worth it.

Thats like $1000 a day you're making. It's just a matter of whether you have the patience to be camping out like that.

There are playstation and game fanatics out there who would be willing to pay that kinda price to be the first ones to get their hands on a ps3. Crazy and fanatical yeh... but i guess some people have been waiting for years for the ps3, and have the money to buy it at ~$2000.

IPB Image
(pictures kinda blurry, my bad)

alright i just woke up from my little nap...ill just give a little of my impression on the ps3...first i bought the ps3 to play, becuz im a gamer, not resell cuz im not a scammer...and i was excited to but it, ive been waiting since it was first announced.

first thing is that yes the $600 tag is kinda high, but it isnt as high as the $800-$1000+ pirce tag of a blu-ray player, which the ps3 is. sony is losing about $250 per console sold...

its really shiny, like the PSP was...i actually put gloves on when i took it out of the box and placed it on my shelf, yes im such a dork...im using basic SDTV and connecting thru composite video cords...i can tell the improvement on the graphics in the game, but i understand im not truely getting everything (i plan on getting an HDTV next yr)...

well anyways, the controllers are lighter and smaller, the bottom R2/L2 are slightly different, as they push in a 45 degrees angle instead of up and down...but youll quickly get use to it as its pretty much the same as the PS/PS2...and its wireless which is great and you can have up to 7 controllers connected, why such an odd number? i dunnno. i have the PS3 on my shelf sitting horizontally and ive noticed that the bottom right section does get really warm but i dont think its warm enough to start cooking breakfest on it...and it is extremely quiet, only way to hear it is to actually put your ear right next to it, unless like 360 which is just loud.

i wont get into the games i bought becuz you can go read the review for it someplace else...but i tested out some older games and some region coded dvds on it...as for the older games i test Rhapsody (PS1) and Guitar Hero (PS2), they both work fine, except on GH you can't use the guitar controllers becuz everytime you play an old game you have to press the PS button in the middle of the controller, but the guitar doesnt have it...and region coded dvd still wont work on it...ima try to put different video types on a disc and see which ones work...

any questions bout the ps3, just get at me, ill be happy to answer.

okay tested out some video media types...mpeg 1-4 seems to play just fine, but .wmv and .asf dont work (given becuz theyre microsoft files) but divx (mostly .avi files) does not work either which is a bummer...atleast for now, hopfully theyll update it to do so.

theres no wallpaper as of yet, and i couldnt get my mp3 player to show (Creative Zen), the ps3 says there is an unknown drive in the USB port, but i cant find it on the xmb...
